This guy is hilarious, I really appreciate his candor and out of all the boat channels I think this is the best, he seems very knowledgeable and he doesn't take himself so serious like a lot of other boat snobs.
Thanks James - loving your videos. This is a great boat. So good that I bought one new in 2004 and then 5 years later I bought ANOTHER ONE (from you!). That's how good this boat is - many customers bought 2! They are very well built and make a great 2nd hand purchase, for UK boating or the Med/USA. As someone said, they were built from 2002 to 2009. They built 211 of them in total. Most had a double cabin port side - the twin beds in your video were a rare option. The utility room was amazingly useful and much easier to get in/out than your video shows. It could be set up as a mini cabin by the way - a single bed easily fits.
Thanks Jfm. It is really is a good boat! I can think of an even bigger boat from Fairline that you bought TWO of too ! 😂😂 maybe we will do a video of of one of those soon 😉
Hi James. A humours in depth tour. Fairline of this era 58, 65 where sporty loads of space, 3 decent cabins, stunning woodwork. Seaworthy and stood the test of time. At 399k its a lot of boat for the money. Great walkthrough video tour thanks 😊
@@Boatscouk I remember all the Fairline yachts Nick Aquaholic has featured on his channel for you. 2015 blue hull Squadron 65 900k. 2007 Phantom 48 310k. 2004 Squadron 55 200k. All fantastic yachts. I could polish for an eternity. Thanks so much for the videos. Look forward to seeing the next one.
Still one of the best out there , for 400k and 100k spent on a refit of the interior soft goods and nav upgrade and all over detail you have an awesome boat . I ve skippered several and believe me the sea keeping is way ahead of any of the modern yachts . On one delivery’s passage to Jersey we hit some real nasty stuff, on anything else planing hull you would have kacked yourself but the 58 just motored through it with ease . The only boat comparable in terms of sea keeping was the Pearl 55/60 , lovely , lovely hull , was hugely under rated and the build quality was superb . The modern stuff , voluminous inside but most look like a block of flats at this size and no where near as capable .skippered recent a similar sized Absolute from viareggio to Antibes , Jesus ! Felt like it was falling apart , everything rattled and squeaked and the thing just felt like it was slamming into a brick wall all the time in anything over 3 footers , was massive inside for a 56’ and very glitzy inside , looked like the starship Enterprise at the helm but woeful in anything but flat calm .
What a great channel. I like the way you are in front of the camera, not invisible behind a camera. your warts and all approach is great. When looking for my next boat I will be in touch.
Just watched this one and you KNOW what we've discussed ..but it was Nick who showed me the way ..if I'd have watched this earlier I'd never have me sights on one 😂😂😂😂👍🏴
What a great design with the galley in that position and the laundry room/fold out ironing board, genius. I'm sure the boat manufacturers know their market and clients but I really don't get the current trend of sticking the galley at the aft of the cabin. Would be like having the front door of a house straight into the kitchen.
I really do like the fact that you cover more brands other than Sunseeker and princess which every other channel seems to do. I believe these next 2 are probably not too common in your part of the world but if you get an opportunity could you review a Bayliner and a Searay yacht if you can find them.
It dominated the UK market for sure, and the other British builders. I think Princess 57 which was its closest competitor sold only about 40 units. Same for the Sunseeker Manhattan 56. Fair to say at a similar price the Azimut 55 sold more then double in more less the same production run (01-09), 500 boats, and the Aicon 56 (02-09) which was a new builder from Sicily also sold a 100 plus in the same production run. Midships cabin....
Great video. My brother and I sell RVs (Caravans) in Canada. You know boats like I know RVs so I really respect the straight forward honesty of them. I have learned a lot from your videos thanks!

Fairline 58 is one of the best yachts out there on that category ... can be handled perfectly by a couple . a fantastic boat . is not a monster, neither a boat dressed as a yacht ..
Great video as always. Thank you for doing them. I'm not sure all 6'2" and 19 stone of me would get anywhere near that utility room. Apart from that, nice boat.
@@Boatscouk one day I will own a boat, but in the mean time love watching the videos of them. You, James from Sunseeker and Nick are great. All its clear love the boats that you show and have great knowledge.
Fairline knew that everyone loves the central galley, so what do they have for the current Squadron 53? Tons of galley options. They have galley forward opposite the helm. They have galley aft like every other boat. And they have galley down taking up a berth space. Basically every option in the world except the one popular option that made them famous.
Certainly a lot of boat for your money. Although I think for 400k, I would go for the Targa 48 which you have for sale. Newer, more modern design, lower running costs and it has a mid master :-)
Yes but Squadron 58 has shaft drive (unbeatable) and flybridge and also these were made by hand and not resin infused (like t48) . The hand laid boats are indestructible 😂

Like how you improved the sound with the mic, however when you 'jumped' outside, it seemed to be missing and was hard to hear, also when you 'popped up to the fly deck something was wrong and I could hardly hear you. Maybe be a watchful critic before releasing the video will help.
Are boats this size hard to dock and maneuver? It looks like it would be hard to see over the edges? I've only had experience with sub 40ft sailing boats, but they were never difficult. This just looks so high up and wide.
I'm late to the party here...but I fully agree with James, this is a 'cracker' of a design. Alas, he did miss a couple of things: The galley is some distance away - physically and visually - from the dinette. And I would very much wanted to see the engine room.
Fucking excellent review. Love the curves of these early 21st century Fairlines. They just have a swoopiness that you don’t see these days. I am a big fan of curves in the right places!

Poor quality of interior because almost all used ones have loosen fabrics on ceiling and walls. Beside of this these boats are not too bad. The iron board is a joke. Nobody is using it. The utility room as such is perfect. You cannot have enough space in the kitchen.
