I'll turn 50 in 2 months. I'm dancing and crying to this masterpiece filled with love, youth, emotion, pain and everything else that makes us human. I'm instantly transported back to middle school on my way to class with my Sony Walkman blasting in my ears dreading having to turn them off and put them in my locker until I can play it again during my lunch. Thank you for honoring those glory days for me and connecting with kids who are the age today I was then. Brilliant work! And thanks for performing live on my local radio station where I discovered you...KEXP.
Dean I was born in 86 and got raised on all the synthwave stuff from then, it’s amazing to hear something that flawlessly harks back to that style and era and creates a brilliant tune at the same time. In love with this, sharing your joy and tears
I’m 52 and this is a work of genius. It’s taking so many influences from 70s and 80s and combining them into something new and better. I am crying too. Reminds me of watching MTV for hours and recording albums off the college radio station in 1985.
Kraftwerk, Blancmange, Depeche Mode & OMD all over. With a proper modern twist. Got the 'A Way Forward' album today on CD. Wonderful stuff. This isn't just 80's nostalgia, it's a new version of what them genius's did back then. This band really is refreshing to hear
😀Former KROQ listener here, too. From the days of Rodney, Freddie Snakeskin, Dusty Street, Poorman, Richard Blade, Jed the Fish and Swedish Egil. Man; those were the days! Stopped listening when KROQ turned grunge.
Same! It's difficult to recreate synth sounds of those 80s pioneers with such freshness, but this does it! Love it! I have their first album and loved it!
BBC radio 6 brought me here And am I glad This band have everything in their locker Listen to those synths No....I mean REALLY listen That is something special A damn near perfect dance tune Well done
Not heard it on BBC 6 yet. Mine was on smoove & turrells weekly youtube DJ set last night! At first I thought it was a new public service broadcasting as their new album is inspired by the music of Berlin plus the beat is SO PSB!
I too turned 16 in 1981. Had heard this on the radio a few mos ago and truly wondered , “wait , how the hell did I MISS this in the eighties?!” He’s even got the British accent working perfectly. Quite moving and uplifting at the same time.
At 53 years old, this band made me dance again! Amazing reflection from the 80's when muscles and bones never hurt, and everyday was a dance day! Mr. Devany, you're not only a talented vocalist, you also have a great sexy style!
These guys were frozen in the '80s by some mad evil scientist... and someone finally brought them out to thaw...... and whoever saved this band is my hero.....Thank you!!! 🤩🤘😁
Like the 1st notes of Ceremony on New Order Substance~ the Jesus truth Bible on New wave & synth. Damn this is bone rattling good. Yum. Needed a pick me up mid~week... Suicide? Magnetic Fields. Electro wizardry
i grew up in the 60s and loved the 80s music. When i first heard this i thought of Human League and OMD. Very pumped listening to this. Will probably get the whole album on Itunes.
As someone who didn’t grow up in the 80s, to me this is a fresh sound that has this new age sound that bands like future islands and to a lesser extent tame impala are bringing to us. Can’t wait for the show in April, been listening nonstop.
new New wave with a little of New Order, OMD and Marc Seberg (french group). Vraiment très bien. I love it! Je vous souhaite tout le succès que vous méritez ❤

Authentic sounding new retro, even the filming has an early 80's look to it. Love it! He's got a Crispin Glover vibe to him, and that's a huge compliment.
I heard this at 0810hrs this morning and thought I had missed a genius from my youth in the 80s. And what pleasure to discover they are a new group. Folks, if you ever read this, please, please come to Wales. I live so far away, Cardiff or Swansea are big places, I can get there!!!!!! Keep it going
Omg . This is every British industrial city video I ever saw in the 80s . This band is doing it BETTER, though. The album is astonishing. I’m going to come out of retirement for this band! This is for the cool kids of 1984.
51 die hard long term synth-pop fan, and 80’s new wave DJ.. I ❤️ your Sound!! Have you heard Soviet? About 20 yrs ago they released some awesome music very similar. I hope to catch your next tour, I missed the recent show!
No doubt about it... the best band I heard in 2021... I love it... and the recording of the video... that kind of independent or festival film ... the photography and the shots... I love it.
I never have heard of this band before today (2-19-23). This sounds like something Men Without Hats would make, and that's not a bad thing. This is really good stuff. This band has got it.
I'm in love with this band! I got to know about Ian n NOL thanks to Fab Moretti and Machinegum! These guys are so genuine and easy to love. Loved every single track they've made so far and I'm sure they're gonna become huuuge!
Just found this band and I’m in love! My parents bought me up on 80s music, these guys are just amazing, I hope they tour in Australia so I can experience this live!! Lead singer looks like the frontman of Mondo Rock (anyone who likes this band should check them out for a similar vibe!) which got me clicking on this haha
Total takes me back to 1988 middle school Depeche Mode.
As a man who grew up in and obsessed with all things 80’s and living in a constant state of nostalgia, I love this!
OMD’s first album reborn…….
OMD was the first thing I thought of as well.
More like early Depeche Mode for this track. Other tracks def. are early OMD

I fucking love OMD
Some hints of Kraftwerk circa '75, as well.
Who knew the best American New Wave would hit in 2021?

I am in Edmonds. KEXP has introduced me to so many amazing bands and artists. Truly the greatest radio station in the world.

I should say “ taping” albums off the radio 😂
Don’t Fucking Cry!!! We don’t cry, no more! Feel better! My Gangs Music! FILMED IN FLORIDA
Underrated song. One scene from a film or series will bring people to this music video in years to come.
First time I heard them my mind started racing, trying to work out how I’d missed a Depeche Mode song after all these years ?!
Brilliant Statement!
Big OMD /Mode influence circa 83 like the guys dancing its cool
I am 55 years old. A brilliant pop masterpiece that captures the joy and love of my youth in SoCal listening to KROQ and 91X.
Love this comment
❤️❤️❤️💯

Yes! It’s bringing back memories of taping albums off my local college radio station WTUL New Orleans in 1985!
Same! It's difficult to recreate synth sounds of those 80s pioneers with such freshness, but this does it! Love it! I have their first album and loved it!
I’m studying these dance moves to do at work on the kitchen line
BBC radio 6 brought me here
And am I glad
This band have everything in their locker
Listen to those synths
No....I mean REALLY listen
That is something special
A damn near perfect dance tune
Well done

Radio six hooked me up too. What a track.
Same here I’m 57 when heard it on radio 6 I instantly thought I cant remember this from the 80s congrats to them on reinventing the 80s vibe
I heard it on 6Music in the car on Friday and had to look it up when I got home... Can't get enough of this song! Strong 1981 vibes :)
Six Music brought me to these guys too, all hail the Mighty Six! This band is like Kraftwerk crossed with The Smiths, an odd combo, but I love it!
Your songs make me want to cry and dance at the same time. 🖤😭🕺💃🎶😭
So true, they're all so beautiful, melancholic, cathartic and heartbreaking.
I feel like I need a hug after listening to this one lol!
@@k2xplorer77 🤗
I do hope the young people understand the genius of this!
As in every generation: some do, some don't, Who can say whether trash also doesn't have moments of genius? Madonna comes to mind
This could have been written 40 years ago. Then again, it’s still brilliant. It would have been a hit in 1981. Hopefully it will be a hit today.
I wish I was as cool as Ian Devaney
I say this to myself every day
Stop talking over his performance. thanks
Who?
I’am!? Simply because of my age 😮😊
This is like a beautiful time capsule from 1988. I bloody love it.
LP2 grows more monumental with each track.
Really does! Every single is class
Takes me back to being 16 in 1981. OMD, Electricity. Happy days.
I too turned 16 in 1981. Had heard this on the radio a few mos ago and truly wondered , “wait , how the hell did I MISS this in the eighties?!” He’s even got the British accent working perfectly. Quite moving and uplifting at the same time.

damn! didn't know ian had the moves like that
Love how all the Gen X-ers are in here all up in their feels. Me too, I'm 45 and this is completely my jam.
AS a 58 yr old listening to early 80's synth pop this is so nostalgic and wonderful, to hear a band bring this era back to life.
this guy plays very well the music of our adolescence and he was not even born. maybe he envies us a little.
These guys were frozen in the '80s by some mad evil scientist... and someone finally brought them out to thaw...... and whoever saved this band is my hero.....Thank you!!! 🤩🤘😁
Glad someone is trying to bring the WAVE back. Also, knowing all the locations in this video (no Homo) :-)
Una capsula del tiempo de los 80´s. Que buenos recuerdos.
Definitely would be one of Silence of the Lambs Buffalo Bill's favourites.
This is the band I never knew I wanted to be in
Heard it once, instantly loved it. Took me right back to the music I loved during the 80's.
Like the 1st notes of Ceremony on New Order Substance~ the Jesus truth Bible on New wave & synth. Damn this is bone rattling good. Yum. Needed a pick me up mid~week... Suicide? Magnetic Fields. Electro wizardry
not gonna lie that dancing robot is godly..cool track..melds well with the robot
Absolutely love this 80's synth pop sound. Additionally, Ian has mastered the dance moves of Sam Herring from Future Islands
The synth is m favorite.
Your songwriting is evolving at an extraordinary pace. This song is fantastic.
Agreed, excellent songwriting- like a young Robert Smith
Holy shit this is so good. Full on Yaz sound. Very hard to do ♥️
i grew up in the 60s and loved the 80s music. When i first heard this i thought of Human League and OMD. Very pumped listening to this. Will probably get the whole album on Itunes.
You’re making this 80s child very happy, keep it up. And this is my favourite song of the album, such a bop.
Great song... this band gets better with every release...
Saw Nation of Language at The Independent in San Francisco. Great show!!!
I saw them play last night and they were fantastic! See them live! So much joy, fun, dancing....beautiful wash of sound.
awesome song! vibes ... vibes .... vibes.
Great song and video ... and extremely danceable! 💙🙏
Suddenly NYC is giving me pleasant, small town vibes

new New wave with a little of New Order, OMD and Marc Seberg (french group). Vraiment très bien. I love it! Je vous souhaite tout le succès que vous méritez ❤
This Fractured mind
Reeling from the moment
I stumbled on the life we left behind
Crippling innuendo
Unaffiliated but waiting on the side
Drew a line
Slightly undermined
But I want to find
Meaning, motion
And help me out
I can't seem to dream about
Anything I can defend
I wonder now and then
D'you think that I could simulate
My life, but done a better way
In this fractured mind
Fractured, fractured mind
I get to feeling turned around
And turned around again
Blinding lights a-flashing
Down the Garden State Parkway of your mind
One last call for alcohol
A night that's for the books and then you die
Faster now
Spiraling and crashing now
Waking on the cold hard ground
Worth it, it's worth it
Perpetual
Pseudo-intellectual
Kicking 'round your town again
I wonder now and then
D'you think that I could simulate
My life, but done a better way
In this fractured mind
Fractured, fractured mind
I get to feeling turned around
And turned around again
I'm not the one, I'm not the one
I'm not the one, I'm not the one
Can you believe I'm not the one
I'm not the one, I'm not the one
Staring out the window
At every living thing I'm passing by
We've reached the end
Standing on the edge of it
Thinking back I can't complain
But I wonder now and then
D'you think that I could simulate
My life, but done a better way
In this fractured mind
Fractured, fractured mind
I get to feeling turned around
And turned around again
All of their music is so good 🙏
These guys eat pizza and White Castle and write beautifully dreamy music. Yet I eat these things and just sleep. Can’t wait for the full length!
Authentic sounding new retro, even the filming has an early 80's look to it. Love it! He's got a Crispin Glover vibe to him, and that's a huge compliment.

This is good stuff. Refreshing to hear something that clearly takes it’s influence from early synth. Congratulations on a great track👍
Got the chance to see them live. They sound great but even better in real life. Amazing music, made me very emotional 🎉

I like it ; 80s retro
9/10 for his hilarious dance in the alley way. Looks a little like future islands dance on letterman
Tears For Fears Mad World silly dance makes for a good 1983's inspiration 😁
One of the song I have come back to most times ever, just love it!
Every now and then I catch a glimpse of true musical artistry that restores my faith in the medium. Thank you NoL.
NOL & White Castle. A combo I didn't know I needed.
Great Sound...

Love the sound! Takes me right back to the 80's : ) So cool that those types of music are being re-born/created in and by younger generations!
Listening to y'all now on KEXP !!! YES THE NEW WAVE IS BACK

Ahh Ross Wilson (aka Ross The Boss)
They also remind me of Machinations, another prime Australian 80s synth band, and Ian reminds me of their lead singer, Fred Lonergan
One of their best!
