This is one of my favorite Sonic games. I wish there were more like it. Why (the fuck) do they have games with sonic racing in cars and shyt? No, I want the actual characters racing with their actual abilities, plus exploration, unlockables, and the competitive play
I don't know if this is true for every version of the game, but in the PC port you can change the weather to always be snowing and it'll freeze all the water eliminating like 90% of the challenge it poses to a run like this. It does have worse handling but it is still for sure faster than getting stuck in the water.
If you didn't know you can change the weather to Winter which freezes the water which gives you extra speed but less control, it really helps on getting far away in a good way from the others to get the S Coins or Emeralds.
I've 100%ed (or as close as I could) the game with all characters before this so I already knew the answer, but was still a fun video regardless. If you're looking for a true sonic R challenge attempt that.

I'm actually way more familiar with this game than most people would be (it's a guilty pleasure for me), but even being able to jump, 100%ing Reactive Factory just straight up pisses me off.

In the settings of the game theres the option to choose the weather. Changing the weather to snow/winter makes this challenge much easier

Sonic Gems Collection for GameCube which also has Sonic R, has that port. So you can control the weather on there too.
