    I’ve hit both a couple of times, and i found the mmc just as easy to hit as the hmb. Im a high ball hitter so the mmc ball flight suited me better. I’m a 22 handicap but had no problem hitting them.

    I just added the HMB 2 & 3 iron to my bag instead of a hybrid and a 5 wood. They're absolutely amazing clubs and do a spectacular job replacing the outgoing clubs. FWIW, my 4-9 are JPX 921 Mizuno Tour. Great bag I've put together in the irons so far. Need some new wedges now.

    Kinda makes me wish I hadn’t of sprung for a mixed set of MMC 4&5 / SC 6-PW with PX6.5 earlier this year. While these are by far the best feeling best performing irons I’ve ever played, I’ve been drooling over the MP20s. Gotta go hit these soon just for fun! 😀

  • @johnk.atchley5079

    Just saw this as I am considering a pre-owned set of MP20 MMCs. Immediate reaction is what a great smooth swing this guy has, he is no mid-handicapper. Then he says probably 8 to 10. The average male handicap in the US is 14. A player in the 8 to 10 range is in the top 25 to 34%. The way he hits it, I think he could be below 8 if he played at all regularly. Anyway, after trying the MP 20 MMC irons today in a hitting bay with launch monitor, I would agree with the previous viewer with a 22 handicap who said he found the MMC as easy to hit as the HMB. I have a 17 handicap. I think a lot may depend on the shafts. The pre-owned set I am looking at has Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 120 gram shafts in R flex. The flex could be the secret, as over the past year I found that 120 gram stiff Royal Precision Rifle Lite shafts in my forged blades were getting to be too much (I am 82). I had replaced those with very light Nippon NS Pro Zelos 8 stiff shafts weighing only 87.5 grams, which helped increase swing speed but may have been a touch too light. The other thing that helps is my current forged blades have weak lofts, 34 degree 7 iron, while the MP20 MMC is 32 degrees.

    I have played 1998 Mizuno T-Zoid Pro irons for 20 years , now on my 2nd set of F,S+L (T-Zoid pro 2 due to non availability of early ones in immaculate order)wedges due to wearing out the originals, but the rest of them ,1 iron to PW (yes I have 13 irons) still very good, currently saving hard to move to the MP-20 . Main thing is shaft choice , I know what I need from a mizuno iron , Fitting is essential it would seem to get the engine right now my swing speed has dropped by 25% since my late 30's. If you need a 4 handicap senior subject for a further test , I am your man !!! and you can have my 1 iron as a "trophy" :)

      I'm still playing my T-zoids! While there are definitely better irons out there, the difference isn't great enough to justify me switching to the MP 20. I never did play the 1i and just put the 2i back in the bag after a switch to a lighter shaft and then lead weight filling in the two gaps on the back. It's dynamite off the tee!

    Ian - in terms of blending Mizuno irons would you ever consider blending models that are farther apart in terms of design intent than other options, say the HMB and JPX 919 Hot Metal irons, and how would you approach that? Would the 919s be the longer irons (seeking more forgiveness in those clubs), with the HMBs being, say, the 6 through pitching wedge? Or the other way around, given the extra distance that the Hot Metals seem to deliver?

      Jermane Hoowse I tried this 7 years back. Started using an old Mizuno blade 6 iron on the range. Tells you on every hit if you sweet spot it or not. Then it helped me when I tried a range of Mizunos and I knew exactly how how much forgiveness I needed. At that time I ended up with a set of mp59s. I still take that blade out to tease out issues with my swing. Still need to use my true irons to dial things in.

    My dream irons are MP20 HMB. I simply can't afford a set. I really need them

    So I am little confused .. I currently play the MP4'S. I am thinking if buying the MP20's, around a 6 to 8 handicap. So what would fit better? Looking at MB 7 through PW amd was thinking 5 n 6 iron but what would fit better HMB or MMC??

    Question on the shaft change from PX LZ 5.5 to the Modus 120 S. If Chris were swinging a PX LZ 6.0, would you have put him in Modus 120 X?

    I play the JPX 900 hot metal. Best irons ive ever used by far and i would still give my left nut for a set of the HMB's

    Keen to know, if you had £1k for a set of irons, would you go MP20 or Titleist T100?

    Too late *Mizuno!* You made the perfect club 19 years ago! (MP-33)

    Fantastic video!! As a mid handicapper myself I could relate. These clubs and the fitting experience is top notch. Hopefully have the opportunity through the #TXGcontest and create my own unique set!

    You mentioned strike point being low for this practicular player due to delivery being on the shallow side. Generally a low strike on the face would increase spin. Was that evident with this player?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not so much the case with a mid-iron, you'd see spin increase on a low strike more with something like a fairway wood and definitely a driver.

    Am surprised that he could still hit pretty decent distance albeit he didn’t flush the ball at the center of the sweet spot.

    Hey TXG
    I am 13 years old and a 6 handicap, I am deciding between either a full set of hmb or mmc with my fitter. I am a decent ball striker, but I rely more on my short game. Would i be giving up too much workibility by getting a full set of hmb irons [5-pw]? I would love a response, thanks!!

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could combo those up and do hmb in the 5,6,7 irons and mmc in the 8,9,PW so you get more forgiveness in the longer irons and more control in the shorter irons. Just make sure the fitter blends the lofts appropriately

    How does the HMB compare with the JPX-919 Hot Metal (Pro)? I know the HMB is 2 degrees weaker, but why would you choose one over the other performance-wise?

    • @jacobmccain8082
      @jacobmccain8082 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forged feel, better spin. If you’re looking for more distance with max forgiveness in a small-ish shape then HMP is your ticket. If you want better feel and a little more spin with very good forgiveness in a small-ish shape then HMB is it. Pretty similar overall though.

      Have JPX 900 Forged.love it. For better control/shape, considering combo with 789P of either the 900/919 Tour or MMC. Any thoughts?
