    Thanks for the informative video. I will advise everyone out there beware of the notorious clevis bolt. This bolt that connects strut to lower arm in most applications gets rusted. If you are lucky you will not have a problem, soak over night with penetrating spray. I was able to remove one side with some blood/sweat/tears. The other side was complete seized inside the metal sleeve of the lower arm bushing. I tried penetrating spray, heat, 4lb mallet wacks and nothing. Eventually had to cut off with saw saw diablo thin metal blade easy work of the bolt. Pressed bushing out with Auto Zone press kit rental. Installed new moog bushing. Also pressed out bolt that was seized in strut fork. Piece that was cut off, this was very worst case scenario. It was not hard to do but just time consuming more than anything. Really thought me to be patient. Patience is a virtue Jeepers!

    • @Ghost-nq1vv
      @Ghost-nq1vv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not think you need coil overs.... that's more of a personal thing in terms of the type of lift you are going for. Coil overs will definitely make for a better ride and over all suspension, but you don't have to go with that type of shock.
      I have an Old Man EMU set of shocks and they worked just as good as his coil overs upon the finished install.

  • @GannonKupkoSr
    @GannonKupkoSr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the record... If you loosen the UCA, the strut will fit in much easier. Second, for the rear, put the spring back in just sitting on the bottom perch, then drop in the bump stop, seat the upper part of the spring, and then fish the stop back up to the top and seat it.... way easy. Also, if you go 2-1/2", remove the rear drivers control arm mount at the axle.... it will hit the gas tank cover and you will never get the spring back in easily.

  • @HexiledRazz
    @HexiledRazz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Just a warning to anyone planning to buy this lift... The front gives you way more than 2 inches. The front spacers are 2" tall, however with the way a independent front suspension works, when you space the strut 2", the actual gains turn out to be 3 - 3.5". This destroyed my brand new upper ball joints in 3k miles of highway driving, even with a proper alignment, etc. It's not a problem if you plan on going with aftermarket UCAs like JBA's because they offer proper UCA alignment. However, if you're sticking with stock i would go with lift like Daystar that actually offers the proper 2".

    • @TheValleyofAwesome
      @TheValleyofAwesome 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hexiled Was there any warning signs before your upper control arms failed? :0 I'm really curious because I was thinking about this lift too

    • @HexiledRazz
      @HexiledRazz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They hadn't actually mechanically failed yet; i failed my state inspection with too much play in the UCAs. So i am unsure of what kind of warning signs you would get prior to failure.

      Lifesabeach. You need to cut or heat the fender liner and push it back out of the way. There is also a pinch weld behind the plastic liner that needs to be bent out of the way.

    • @shawnvega8232
      @shawnvega8232 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fender liner for both front and rear? Thanks

    • @williamhubbard4336
      @williamhubbard4336 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Shawn Vega, only the front fender liner rubs. He read might rub, but only when shock is compressed. Pull the front tire. Remove the fender liner and you will see the pinch weld on the rear wall. Make a few cuts and then use a hammer to fold it over. Make sure you paint it or prime it to stop rusting. Put the fender liner back on and check for rubbing. Mine stopped rubbing after I did that and I am running 265s

    WTF, why would you ppl ask this guy for any advice. He can't even name the parts and fricking called a nut a bolt numerous times. Wonder what he actually does for a living, I can tell you it's not mechanic. What's next the clerk at 7-11 is going to walk us through open heart surgery in a 15 minute TH-cam video. Fucking amateur
