Same. I have 3TBs of files just waiting. And thats not even really that much.
However, it is worth hoarding simply because the best avenue to find pirated STL's, may not be around for much longer since their CEO just got bagged in France recently.
The motto of "if you see it and like it, then you better download it" grows in truthery everyday. It is a notable and wise investment to buy big SSD storage drives to hoard data.

So if you have them you should upload them to literally any torrent site. If they're unavailable and the Creator is no longer selling them make them publicly available so they never go away. It's the way the internet is supposed to work

bad news, that STL link in the description contains what appears to be the original authors real name, initials -REDACTED- , so if remaining anonymous was planned, worth relocating the files to a throwaway gmail instead of a personal one.

"3D printing sculpts will never be as good as GW" Actually, they can be equal to or straight up better than GW. The problem comes from GW bringing down the hammer on those creators that GW sees as a threat to their brand.
Brother plastic feels so much better to build and paint. I miss cleaning and building models honestly the only downside to 3D printing is how annoying it is to glue resin together

@@laviljoski6952 Brother, you’ve been looking at plasma generators without eye protection. I’m saying creators have made models that are equal to or greater than GW’s designs and many are shutdown for being fairly close.
I remember the White metal GW ships, They where not even straight and where impossible to get onto the flying stand

My favorite part was using blender to remove the pre-supports, using the auto support, disliking the results of the auto support, then doing all the supports manually instead of just like using the original files.
Great vid! Disappearing STLs is something I've never seen talked about before but collecting 3rd party STL files is an interesting aspect of the hobby in itself I think. They are their own weird little art niche that is surprisingly ephemeral despite most files being hosted across multiple sites at some point in time.

I always run my supported models through UV-Tools to identify evasive islands, and fill cavities where resin would live uncured. Can only recommend.

You're a legend! Thanks for sharing. In case it helps anyone else, I had some trouble getting these funny numbers to start downloading until I opened the Bit client at the same time as the µ client. For some reason then they all started downloading after having just sat there for like ten minutes. Could just be that they took a while to connect to peers.

This is why I design proxies now. I definitely can’t afford to buy tanks, so I used my skills in 3D modeling to make my own.

I've discovered them quite late I must admit... But I've been a patreon for more than a year (got my Ramilies fidelity reward at the end)... I dropped them just before they switched to their new enterprise so I wasn't aware that they had taken their full BFG line from MMF... Only discovered it with the summer sales, when I was about to buy the few files I didn't own (pointy eldars and some Ork pirates) and could not find anything on their store

I have that row boat on my shelf painted in yellow in all its glory!. It was such a quick and easy print, did that a long time ago on a phrozen 2k. Soul Forge studios are awesome Great guys and great models.
I love that you don't make your prints seem effortless with hollywood magic. Showing problems solved is something I wish more channels across the greater hobbyspace did.

I like that OiaSS has the integrity to straight up tell the audience that the video is an ad and not a review. some reviewers you have to read between the lines.
Im gonna make this as clear and blunt as i can in the hopes that heygears social team actually skims the comments on sponsored vids. For me personally, it literally DOES NOT MATTER how good the printers, resin, and support features are. Doesn't even factor into the equation. Being a closed ecosystem is a complete, total, and irrevocable turnoff. I am well aware that i have a sample size of precisely one, but i cant be the only one who feels this way.
All you'd have to do is sell an empty/refillable resin cartridge and give us the ability to generate custom resin profiles in the slicer with access to the full suite of traditional print settings. At least guve us the OPTION of trying out some fancy new 3rd party resin that might catch our eye.
Leave the current ecosystem in place and just do that and my dumbass would HAPPILY buy one and just use the heygears resins for most of my printing for ease of use and have done with it. But the simple fact that you've completely removed the option for 3rd party resins is enough for me to swear it off and NEVER buy a heygears machine just on principal

When they were ending this line earlier this year, it triggered a FOMO for me which resulted in me getting pretty much all of the Imperial stuff they made.

I've been listening to this video while painting a commission and when you used gravelord gray as your wash I laughed cause ive been doing this since the release of the speed paints. There's just something about gravelord gray that makes it an awsome wash.

I would never trust any auto supports without following up manually.
Ive had good luck with a few creators who knows how to support their models
I miss 3D Builder already. It was unlisted I think in June and it even removed it from my modeling computer. The "workaround" works, but it doesn't seem to repair as well as it used to. Or, maybe that is just situational bias and it "feels" worse.
Had that guy saved on etsy, meant to get a four or five different fleets at some point just never got around to it. Looked a few months ago and was sad to see them gone.

At the 25:00 min mark, I think even a quick wash to darken the blue/ green would do a good job at breaking up the uniformity of the enon-highlighted sections (it's a quick fix, but it would probably work. I... might be biased in favor of highlights on top of a dark wash for extra contrast).

Yeah this is why I grab interesting-looking figure STLs any time I see them. Even if pirate circles are the only option, I still do my best to track down the original author and find whatever tipjar service they use so they get paid for it. I think GWS in particular is finding these STLs because people still put identifiable search tags on their uploads, unfortunately. We as a wargaming community need to come up with some term to denote fakes/replicas/proxies without tipping GWS off.

Then again, if they didn’t charge an arm, a leg, and a few internal organs for a single miniature, it wouldn’t be a problem.
Aaaand this is why I learned to speed sculpt models lol. I recommend anyone willing to, to give it a shot! Believe me, just popping down for an hour and busting out a model is so much more gratifying than failing to find models.
Yes, more complex ones are tough, but even then the time sync is more than worth it in the end.

Good video. Thanks for the file and I also cry anytime a funky named stl of Warhammer dies. Bought an external 13 tb hdd for them.
In blender, to get the most from the automatic repair. I make sure to start with triangulating the mesh. It will be done anyway when exporting to STL. Sometimes the repair creates errors if the mesh has ngons with more sides than 4.

Great video 6 side, I gotta ask, have you though about doing a video showing us how you do your presupports so well? I often am not sure if I've under or over supported a piece when I do it myself.
I found out these guys had delisted all their stuff a few months after it happened. I had just settled on finally buying their stuff after I finished my last hobby project, I was very disappointed to say the least. After I got over that disappointment I went about looking for a place or people that had copies of their ship files, took me about a month of tracking them down but I was able to find a group that had around 95-ish% of the makers catalog.
I normally hate piracy but, hell, if you don't want to sell them to me then I won't feel bad about it.

It's tough because any modeller with the skills to 1:1 replicate gw models is better off making spin offs style models which (imo) seem more akin to bargin brand warhammer rather than it's own cool model.
Back when 3d printing was a lot smaller, there were less models online but you could find exactly copies of the gw stuff pretty easily. I'm happy to see 3d printing become mainstream but it also became a target for gw with it's copyright hammer
I'm kind of surprised, watching this right after Fauxhammer's video where he confidently asserts that HeyGears' autosupports are so good that they almost universally beat out manually supported models. Perhaps the autosupports are better for certain types of models that don't include heavy, blocky bricks with intricate filligree.
My upcoming video will go into this much further, but basically these auto supports are great for successful prints, but like I say in this video they get there through sheer brute force and disregard for detail. So minis get absolutely murdered by them which you will see in that video (and you can see briefly here in this video when I show the sword), but Faux uses the pulse release upgrade which changes the support settings in Blueprint. I haven't tried that for myself yet
