    Me and my dad actually 3D printed a full Warhound Titan off I think a 300-600 dollar Filament printer (on a trip atm so I can’t look at it atm) and the print quality is awesome. Not the “my details have hidden details” level of print quality. But it’s still amazing quality. Edit: Asked my dad. We have a Any Cubic Viper and we use Cura

    While I know it wasn't your intent, the streakiness of the speed-paints give this warlord a sort of back-alley/refurbished grit feel. Something you'd expect out of mechanics/engineers that slapped something on as an afterthought for a prototype presentation.
    I like it!

    It amazes me how cheap 3d printing is compared to buying the models. Yeah 650 bucks ain't cheap but a warlord titan's body alone is 3x that. And you get to use models that explore 40k's visual style in completely different directions than GW's sculpts. The savings can pay back the cost of the printer within a single army, depending on what army you're building.

      Not to mention, you can print all of this on a much smaller printer if youve more patience, an Elegoo Mars 2 is like 120 dollars and can easily print a knight without issue.

      Late reply but i'm currently printing a Warhound Titan on a small Mono 2. Details are incredible and it's costing me $40 to print. With the same printer, i have built a full custodes army, over 10 killteams, terrain, dice and movement trays. I STILL have not spent more money than a single FW titan.

    As well as designers' responsibilities in terms of the technical aspects of files it'd be super great if they could also state the physical dimensions of each model when printed at it's native scale (and what that scale is). Before I buy something I want to know if it's going to need resizing and whether it's going to fit on my printer.

    I have the Saturn 8K. It's a great printer!
    One thing to note, with higher resolution and density screens, light transmittance is lower (this is also true for TVs/monitors) so cure times will need to be longer OR the light source needs to be stronger. The UV light source is a tad weaker in the Saturn 8K vs Saturn 2 8K, so if you see profiles that work on the Saturn 2 8K, then the cure times would need to be increased on the Saturn 8k (as a starting point, always good to test range find like you mentioned!)

    speedpaint v2 is gonna be what im looking for by the sounds of it, currently im limited with how i can varnish, and the cure time for the v1 was wayyy too long for me.
    but if theres people like yourself who prefer how the v1 works it would be cool if they could run both versions. perhaps marketing the 1 for its longer active time
    also. i love how your rabbits came along to help with the terrain design at the end

    You need to change how you use the new speed paints. While large armor panels are challenging they can be done with Citatdel Contrast paints which dry and cure much faster than speed paints. Apply more paint to start with (which means larger brushes on such large pieces), start in the crevices to give the excess somewhere to flow, mop up the excess when you've got full coverage. Warhipster on youtube has a great how to video for contrast that i think translates well to the other transparent paint lines.

    Wow great video with an astonishing amount of information on different topics that come into play when 3d printing!!
    Just recently started printing myself and after finding the "right" settings (agree its a shame elegoo does not natively support "ranges") have been printing the Arcadian Elves Colossus from Raging Heroes/heroes infinite.
    Would love to see more titans!!
    Also gravelord grey should still be in the speedpaint line (watch it paint it did a video on all the new paints and looked into it).
    Anyways keep up the great work!

    I'd love to see a video where you try to print minis with an FDM printer at SLA quality. As someone new to printing, I am drawn to SLA due to the detail of the prints and the safety of not having a heating element. But I am frequently told by friends "just get a cheap FDM and use a .1mm nozzle."
    Also that warlord proxy is awesome, I'd love to see it! I know it'd be a ton of work but a cool project could be making a Titanicus army with 40k titan scale models.

    • @hibernate44
      @hibernate44 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having both, I use my sla printers 10x more than my fdm
      But Fdm is great for larger projects like this.

    • @mudawott
      @mudawott ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As someones who tried. Its just not worth it. it around 12 hours for one mini at 32mm scale. A resin printer like the Mars, is around the same price as a cheap fdm printer and can print an army in the same time, with a higher qualiyy and significantly less clean up. If you want a printer for printing minis. Get resin, be careful with it and youll do better than any fdm print
