Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment, truely! But there's a solid 7 days of editing in that video, so the thought of making it longer is nightmare fuel! Maybe I'll get faster ;)
"... the importance of taking regular breaks when working with styrene glue..." the quiet humour is a great addition to the cool modelling. Using Phobos Armour as vehicle crew is a great idea.
It's waaay larger in the lore I think (it drops multiple TANKS off in addition to 80 marines) but I really really like this model you made way more than the marine transport GW actually makes. Actually has that chunky Caestus-like look. Awesome stuff. Had a skim this time but I'll get around to looking more fully on the process later on! See how easy it'd be to replicate.
Yeah, the references are a little all over the place. I've seen 40 and 60 marnies mentioned elsewhere... which is sorta doable here, but no chance with tanks. I figure in that case it would make an Orca look tiny. In the end I decided to scale it to the Thunderhawk, but wider, and with 3 hulls, to at least keep it vaguely playable!
I really love the mastery of space marine design language shown in your pannel work. That laser cutting alwas absoluteky the way to go for the precision this job asks. Also your mystery gunner console was a leftover from your spartan conversion, its normally held by the tank commander
I feel obligated to say the video is just the highest quality through and through. The build is gorgeous, the commentary is funny, you show (some of) the mistakes. Just some damn good hobby content.
03:31 if you put on your headphones and listen carefully.... you can hear the endless rage screaming and swearing in the background that he muted in the video editor... great build! Worth all the hard work. Thank you for documenting and sharing ❤
I enjoyed the journey as you scratch built the ship. The way you identified each building material, provided thickness, showed cutting and placement convinced me that it’s doable. I decided to subscribed. Thank you.
In a world where 3d printing is the new norm, i absolutely love the dedication and ingenuity of scratch builders. Awesome work. Now i gotta figure out how i can 3d print myself one LoL
I'm only a few minutes in, but i have to say: Wow. The build looks amazing, the process looks incredibly meticulous, and your presentation of it is so, SO professionally done. Not even just the video, but the script is 10/10; i'm actually struggling to keep up with all the jokes and references. I don't think i've subscribed to someone within 3 minutes before, but I'm excited to watch all of your other videos. Keep doing what you're doing!
Always an instant click when your videos pop up! The amount of effort that you put into building and video editing is tremendous!!! Please keep making more videos and I'll always click on them when they pop up!!! Also, I loved that "unnecessary" clip at the end!!!!
Thank you kindly. Yeah, this one was a labour of love. Not helped by the fact I had to film and edit around 60 commercial videos between the build and edit phase. I need a holiday! ;)
Thank you so much. The edits are a labour of (mostly) love. With the models, the effort is very obvious in the final product, but it's hard to tell with video editing - as I guess when it's at it's best nobody notices it!
stellar work! this just looks ridiculously good! As others stated here before, it's not only incredible for the quality of the build but also the dense presentation of it - i would also watch you work for hours on it, but this has been a very quick blast of a video =D thank you so much for the templates - they are a work of art in themselves!
Sir, you have just gotten yourself a new subscriber. What an excellent video! I applaud your attention to detail, effort, and sheer willpower to get this done. Not only that, but also the video is well done.🤘
Watching you build this was absolutely incredible. I much prefer the Thunderhawk and Stormhawk gunship designs myself, this one is a bit too much flying wedge block, but watching you work was a lot of fun!
If in doubt, cheat! Honestly, I bought a cheap 20w laser a couple of years ago, and it's been a fantastic tool. But being able to outsource styrene cutting to professionals is something I didn't realise was possible. love it!
What beautiful build. No way in hell I’m going to make one. But I’ll download your instructions in case I ever change my mind. Good job anayway, you should be very proud of your work. Kudos.
@@OffbeatBuilds at some point I really want to make some scratch builds of my own but mine will most likely be monsters rather than vehicles, I like Tyranids
Wait.. You've got a 40K channel, too!? I had no idea! Stumbled on the video last night and instantly recognized the voice. I've gone through a couple vids now and, aside from your usual dulcet tones and dry humour, the other that sticks out to me is just how many old school hobby tricks you employ that most current 40K content creators don't seem to. I learned a lot of those tricks from my father when I was a wee one, and it's so cool to see some of them again. Especially from one of my favourite creators from my other favourite hobby.
Wow. So I had to stop and think for a moment before commenting because everything about this build is amazing and deserves attention. But if I wanted to single out what impresses me the most, it has to be how CLEAN everything looks. From the angles of the hull to that control panel - everything is so neat. This is easily the coolest scratch-built flyer since Adeptus Papercraftus and g0rb made their papercraft Fire Raptors 5 years ago.
Thank you so much. I've been doing this for the better part of 20 years, and I guess I still see my builds as quite messy compared to some of my "idols". So it's very flattering to hear! Thank you, and have a great weekend!
The little ipad thingy comes from the HH land raider / spartan kit meant to be used for the guy coming out of the hatch I just built one so its fresh in my mine.
It's a fantastic build, and thanks so much for making the templates available! a Quick note, it looks like Panels "Pod Side 2A," both of the "Pod Side 2C," and both of the "Tail Upper E" are missing their outlines in the Overlord Panels pdf. They're present on the Laser Template doc, but thought to mention it.
There is a description in one of the dark imperium books where the Overload is described that Thunderhawks were dwarfed by it. So a model representation would be at least as big as a Manta
YOOOOOOOOO!! Oh my goodness bro, you did a phenomenal job!! I absolutely love it!! I',m crazy enough and have the free time, I might just make one myself!
If you released a less cut down version, i watch these builds for hours. Your quality in build and production is fantastic, keep it up!
Thanks, I appreciate the sentiment, truely! But there's a solid 7 days of editing in that video, so the thought of making it longer is nightmare fuel! Maybe I'll get faster ;)

Gracias! If I'm honest I picked the Phobos crew because I prefer the aesthetic, rule of cool and all!
I’m not sure what’s more impressive - the build or the fact that you condensed all this work into such a comprehensible video
Thanks, very much appreciated!
That Saturday morning cartoon theme in the drama shots really sold it!
Haha, glad you enjoyed it - those shots were a bit self-indulgent really, but I kinda felt I had to!

@@OffbeatBuilds Now you have a v2 project to work on ! just kidding, great work and video editing too!
Aye, it's described as 700-metres-long Sub-Orbital Ship for quick Support-drops. Nonetheless, beautiful Build!
I think that like the thunderhawk it has a transport variant that can transport two repulsers that is separate from the troop transport.
Great looking build. Like a Corvus Blackstar meets a Caestus Assault Ram! And you completely glossed over the awesome paintjob!
Thank you! Yeah, I hate talking about painting, so I'll find any excuse to avoid it!

Hands down the most epic kitbash to have ever bashed a kit.
You had me at Imperial Slips (and a Wilhelm scream).
This was glorious.
Haha. I couldn't help myself ;)
Wow this is a top notch scratch build! I would definitely be interested in a longer video of this and similarly ambitious projects.
