    I bought the Katana Mk-1 head back in 2017. Been using it with my old Peavey 4x12 cab I bought back in the mid-90's.
    I got the GA-FC with it. It sounds great. It can do any style of music from jazz cleans, to brutal chugging. The built-in effects are good too, but I also use some external pedals with it. Tone Studio software is great. Easy to use, and very flexible. So many options. Katana is the best value on the market right now. It is the #1 best seller for a reason. If you don't want to mess with tubes, or pay a fortune for an amp and effects pedals, get a Katana!

    Love the new katana head, but there is one HUGE reason I will stay with the standard mkII model… the new EX head does NOT have the built in practice speaker that the standard mkII model has.
    That is a huge feature for me. I love not needing a separate practice amp, like a Spark or Yamaha. The Katana head can be a practice amp, studio amp, or powerful 100 w live amp, all in one unit.
    I hope Boss come out with one of the new EX heads with the practice speaker included again.

    • @jemandthemystery
      @jemandthemystery 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree. That way, you have a light practice amp at home. Then, an easy transport to a rehearsal room or studio and hook up with a cab and rock out with your bandmates. Unplug. Light trip back home. Repeat.
      Another point: why is the combo of Artist Head the same cost as two 1x12 Artist combos? Much more flexibility with the latter. Also the Artist head and Artist 1x12 combo are almost the same price. If this Waza speaker is so premium why does the head ((without it) cost the same?

    I like what I'm seeing/ hearing so far. I may have a couple of stickin' points. 1. It seems that one needs the Tone Studio Software for much more flexibility and 2. What computer Operating Systems are compatible? Tia, Jim.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, James. The Tone Studio software does add some additional options but is definitely not required to get great use out of the amp. The majority of customers I talk to never actually connect the amp to their computers because it has so many good options built into it. If you do want to use the software, it works several versions back on both Mac and PC operating systems so it should work for just about anyone.

    Can you connect a single 16 ohm 4x12 cab to 1 of the 16 ohm A/B jacks (Artist Head)? Or is it required to use both together. confused by the A/B and 8 ohm transformer. It would be nice if there was a tutorial about speaker connections.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, William! Great question. You always want to match the impedance as closely as possible because too high can damage the output transformer and too low can overheat your amplifier. I checked with a tech at Boss to see what they recommend for this particular amp. It is in fact designed to take two 16 ohm cabs or one 8 ohm cab. You can run a single 16 ohm cab into one of those outputs temporarily, but long term it would not be good for the amp.
      I hope this helps!

    There is a “do the math” error here.
    This head only draws 77 watts from the wall. Obviously, it cannot output 100 watts rms to the speakers.
    This is some creative marketing (lying).
    According to my oscilloscope, this class A/B power amp outputs only 64 watts into an 8ohm load and less than 50 watts into a 16ohm load.
    So, in fact, two greebacks in a 212 at 16ohms could easily handle the full output of this head.
    “Do the math” as you say.

      Hi, joekelly9369! Thanks for your message, hope you have a Happy 4th!
