Overview of adding a Mopar roof rack to my 2021 Dodge Durango to help add extra storage options during family vacation trips.
Chrysler Genuine TRAB6016 Thule Roof rack.
Mopar (TRAB6016)
Color matched a craigslist cargo box as well to keep it looking sharp.
Hope you find this helpful!
Thanks for the detailed video. Like you I need the extra cargo space at times.
Thanks for the kind words and sub! Got some long term review video coming soon for the Durango
I’m looking for this roof rack set up but I can’t find it anywhere
Think I can add a 64 in rook rack to that?
Love that interior! Thanks for sharing
Appreciate the kind words.
Nice video. I just purchased a 2020 Durango RT would this fit ? Also. How confident are you with two adult size kayaks on that rack and on the freeway?
should fit just fine. If you get the proper mating hardware for kayaks to secure them nicely, I think it would work fine. They are very sturdy
Will it fit on Charger 2019?😅😅😅😅😅
bro, thanks. insane -afrewell!🙃
How many inches is the roof box I got a 88 I think it’s way to long
Did you put primer and clear coat or did you just spray the base coat? Looks good and I’m thinking of the same.
I think the spray paint I used was just the all in one paint and primer general purpose can. If I was doing anything other then white I’d probably do a base coat of white then the finish color. I didn’t clear coat it. I’m no expert on paint but the few times I used a clear coat spray it made the finish look a bit hazy instead of glossy without sanding a bit after, and i wasn’t about to sand a full roof rack!
@@therivierarecord2596 it looks good. Did you use just one spray can?
Does your sunroof open while using it?
Yes. Still works.
How are they holding up? Did you pick your own placement for the rack?
The factory placement recommends 10”
Back from the windshield which I hate on our 2020
I used them probably 4 times with a loaded box. Each on about a week at a time. No issues. I’ve seen a sold the Durango so won’t be using them again any time soon.
Thanks so much for getting back to me!
Going to be looking into pushing mine back in a similar position!
@@therivierarecord2596 You kept the racks after selling the vehicle? Would you sell them?
@@lmpromedia yeah I still have them. You want them? Shoot me your email address
Very nice!
Nice I love it
Great video, what website did you get the racks from?
Thanks. Mopargenuineparts.com
I can't find this setup on the website..
@@RAnt-JESUSISKING You're right, looks like its not there anymore. Not sure if its been discontinued or P/N change or what? Found another link here. www.summitracing.com/parts/mop-trab6016
What is the width of the Durango from side to side
The roof please thanks
Very nice ! How many miles on the tow n go ? Still liking it ?
About 7,500 so far after a year or so. I like it a lot still! Really no problems either.
Did All of it come in the one 6016 kit from mopar
Yep. All of it
What can you put in there?
2 carry ons, foldable stroller and some misc bags my wife likes to pack. Just enough really to give a little extra room for the long vacations with 2 kids.
Single people would use this for skis and snowboards …. Lots of bigger ones out there as well
Is there no way to install the Dodge OEM Luggage Rack/Rails after taking delivery? Waiting for my R/T Plus to come in but it doesn't have the Cargo Plus option.
I actually asked my local dealer about it. They seemed really unsure at first. I insisted I want to know the cost. I think it was something crazy like $2200 or so for all the parts bought separately + labor to install and they were not sure how long it would take as there is no standard billable time for the work. Involves drilling holes in roof and tearing down interior headliner. They didn’t want to warranty it either. I said thanks but no thanks.
I think maybe other dealers would be willing to do it maybe. Curious what you find out if you ask.
@@therivierarecord2596 have you seen this video th-cam.com/video/cGTb1vPUa1U/w-d-xo.html ? My hope was that maybe the Durango roof was the same with the posts already there.
@@andrewfink7 nice find. Yeah the rail concept is the same but the Durango does not have the inserts to easily remove and replace with the rails
Seasucker sells vacuum mounted "monkey bars" that I think I am going to try if I pull the trigger on an R/T. Seems great if you just need occasional roof bars.
Do a burnout
