      Glad you enjoyed it! I agree that it's nice to see this craft being embraced by a wider and more diverse audience. It certainly isn't what it used to be like back when my mom started cross stitch. 😊

    • @RyRyMcGuy
      @RyRyMcGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, you're very kind. Thank you. I might have to do more of a finish parade every flosstube because I tend to be more of a monogamous stitcher and often don't have many WIPs on the go at any one time.

    Hi Ryan! Love that Jeannette Douglas bouquet. Making it an envelope- totally going to steal that idea! The Sajou shop in Paris is a dream destination of mine. The original founder of the brand (it has changed hands at least once) learned to knit from her grandfather, who learned to knit when he served in one of the world wars- the soldiers darned their own clothing. Curious to know how those needles work out. That sock yarn is gorgeous! Thanks for a fun video! Happy stitching!

    • @RyRyMcGuy
      @RyRyMcGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for your kind comments! I think the Sajou shop has closed and is now a shop-in-shop inside le Bon Marché. Not a bad place to be, though. And yes,, I think men and knitting intersect several times over the course of history. How lovely to have been taught that craft by one's grandfather, though! I was taught by Mrs. Klim, my Grade 5 teacher. :-/

      Oooo that's a great idea with the name! And I do enjoy making things with the stuff on hand. I think the idea came because that particular tea is a very floral one and I thought it could be a nice scent for a sachet. Then seeing the tea bags again made me go hmmmmm...I wonder. :)

    Hi Ryan! I admire anyone who takes the leap on doing FlossTubes and you did great! Color of Water appears to have redeemed itself and looks fabulous. Referencing needles: do you collect the needle/pins ephemera - there are some fun ones out there. Also, the Japanese celebrate Hari-Kuyo, Festival of Broken Needles - very fascinating traditions around needles and needlework practices in general. Anyway- I’ll stop with the Chatty Cathy (not my name 😆). I hope to see you and your progress again soon. Cheers.

    I’m late to the party, but great first video! I’m going to watch the others that you’ve done as well. I wanted to say that I used to use that soft synthetic seam binding to bind the edges of ALL my cross stitch fabrics many years ago. Back then no one serged fabric for you and it was always just raw edges when you bought it. Anyway I’m not sure why you feel you need to iron your piece when you’re moving your snap or hoop, but I do not. I don’t iron until my piece is finished. Also, that little sachet envelope is the cutest thing and amazingly creative!! Finally, please know that there are lots of Etsy sellers that sell Sajou items with reasonable shipping! It’s really the only way to buy their scissors, etc.

    • @RyRyMcGuy
      @RyRyMcGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No one is ever late to my parties, so thank you for dropping in! Thank you also for the Sajou suggestion about Etsy. That's great to know. In the meantime, I'll likely be bugging my friends who live in Paris to pop by their shop inside le Bon Marché and grab me what my heart desires. 🥰 And regarding the ironing, it might be just a habit of mine to keep on top of the wrinkle and hoop marks. I know it really isn't necessary but I enjoy ironing and I love seeing it so crisp and smooth. I will definitely be very careful with my project that has the bound edges, though. :)

      @RyRyMcGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. The light from the window beside me was too intense so I had to close the blinds. But there's another window on the same wall behind the camera it it was indirect morning light so it seemed to be fine. Plus of course Premiere Pro has some great Lumetri controls. :) And give silks a try! It can be a small monochrome project initially just to see if it's something you'd like to pursue.

    • @kraftnkris2999
      @kraftnkris2999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RyRyMcGuy I struggle with lighting in my videos and have considered getting a ring light. I do some basic editing in iMovie but am unfamiliar with changing brightness/lighting. Will have to investigate that. 😉 Trying silks on a small single colour pattern is a good idea! I’ve been wanting to try a monochromatic piece (never done that either. I know, what’s wrong with me!?) and I have a couple of small skeins of silk that came in a Stitchy Box that I could maybe use. Hmmm, thanks 👍🏻

      Thank you! I made up the envelope as it went along but I'll do my best to develop a more concrete approach for my next attempt at it. And regarding the Colors of Water, don't let the language issue keep you away. I access their website through my internet browser and it has a "translate" feature.
