These Rocks Need Gardening

A great rock garden paddle with a small twist! Scenes form the rest of the paddle with my hairy, scary swim the other day. Bill Vonnegut was in town and had invited a few Neptune's Rangers and a couple of mere mortals for a paddle out of Rodeo Beach. Even though the conditions were rather benign overall, a long-period secondary swell made for a few interesting moments.

Is that a Dagger Stratos you are paddling? I got one myself this last year. Loving it greatly! Such a nimble boat with so much potential!
Curious. What paddle holsters do you have on the front end? Also, what type of setup do you have to secure them? And, did you add straps over your hatches? How did you do so? Super curious. I would like to get my Stratos set up similarly for the rivers and streams I travel.

Yep, Dagger Stratos 14.5L. After over five years and almost 1500 miles still my goto boat a lot of the time. Those are North Water Paddle Britches. They attach to the perimeter lines with velcro straps.
Yes, I have straps over the hatches. The Stratos and Alchemy are notorious for blowing the rear hatch off when a big wave compresses the hull. Might not be necessary in front. You find 1-inch nylon straps with buckles online on many sites. The rest is a matter of applying heat and a drill bit in the right places.

are these kayaks all Dagger strattos 14.5?

Mine is. An L. There is a 14.5S in the herd (same color, yellow helmet) and several Dagger Alchemy. Similar design; predecessor of the Stratos. And then there are a P&H Delphin and a Virgo, a Pyranha Fusion, a Jackson Karma RG and a Necky Chatham.
