    Custom suspension.... A man after my own heart.

    this is what we were looking for the Piston engine!!!!

    This is the best custom suspension concept imo. Exactly what I needed to see

    18:27, a fantastic example of body roll. In autmotive suspension, there is a specific component added to mitigate that, the pan hard bar, without it you basically get this same affect although likely not as exaggerated.

    Ever tried a hovercraft? Not with jets, but by placing the wheels vertically with the flat side down. By placing rotors on arms you can make a sort of suspension or spider-like appearance too. Set friction to 0% for a gliding effect, real fun!

      Ive seen it but never made they myself

      @superieurerobot9846 You don't even have to put the flat side down. You can just build a rover with wheels oriented normally, then set the wheel friction to 0. Put front back right left thrusters on, and it'll have the same hovercraft behavior. As a bonus, normal wheel orientation retains the suspension blocks' function in case you get big air after ramping off a hill at high speed.

    You need some sort of Panhard bar to reduce the left right movement, Love your work keep it up!

      @@Tizuku117 In short i the error i get is 'steam: Error accessing services' it happens to any blueprint, world or anything i try to upload. its not the thumbnail size ive tested that, ive also fully reinstalled steam and SE. I have found one way in which it works and that is to fully delete the 'thumb' file altogether, but this means steam doesn't give any of my blueprints thumbnails so not ideal

    Apologies on the multiple comments but I had a think about any other possibly viable suspension methods for you to use and the best I could come up with was something at the best dicey for large grids in my experience (and it seems you are building for different values as far as the long term goes) but something akin to a double wish bone might serve you well

    Hey, good job, any recomendation for heavy rover?

    • @quantumchief
      @quantumchief  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, as for a heavy rover it would depend on how heavy you are meaning, my largest rover the phoenix is around 12million kg and has a very strong custom suspension which uses the torque of hinges but I do have other which just use suspension blocks to operate the custom suspension

  • @ClangandChiill
    @ClangandChiill 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    As someone who loves to tempt clang with custom suspensions my biggest word of advice, is don't underestimate the sim speed hit. A single highly articulated large grid rover can easy cost you significant sim speed so its not worth overdoing it. sadly.

    at 12:43 how did you attach the connector to the suspension, i have tried and tried and try as i might, it wont allow me to place it.

    • @Warlama
      @Warlama 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@quantumchief I have, at the time of this message i have figured out how to attach it. what has now got me confused is, what are the settings for your pistons, rotors and suspensions? could you display a clear cut list of the settings for those parts please?

    • @quantumchief
      @quantumchief  หลายเดือนก่อน

      you may need to angle the hinges ro make room, or its just a matter of order you place certain blocks

  • @maartenvandenberge7116
    @maartenvandenberge7116 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    i was thinking something simular, but instead both sides independant with 4 wheels per corner, rotor mounting them so the pods can rotate individually, that way you have more with and less space between wheels, thus less chance of bottoming it out

    Upwards facing thrusters can allow youu to push down against cliff faces and drive straight up walls. Spiderman rovers are a thing. I've driven on hangar ceilings on earth
