Speaking of Stephanie Mills, check out “Put Your Body In it”. Big dance club song in 1979, it played at many of the underground clubs in NYC. All of the songs I mentioned were big dance club songs.

But house music is the extension of disco with gospel influences. Nyc was major place for disco and also jersey & philly
