I had a blast playing ! New nids are cool .
Your accent is kinda badass, very easy to listen to.
Remember your chainswords are AP -1 base
Also you can spend a command point to give a squad a vow they don’t already have. So you could have given the big squad lethal hits.
My go to tactic is a full 20 man squad charging in with substaned hits + lethal hits + AP -2 chainswords (with the strat).
With gramaldus you can give them AP-3 chainswords.
Max out your chainswords in the squad and you’ll have 99 attacks

I like Matt's camera shots. Simple things like showing a unit move and line up potential shots at table level, add to the experience 😁

Haven't watched through the whole batrep yet but sadly for the Regen rule you need the harvester unit to be near an objective you control.
And despite the name, Regenerating Monstrosity cannot be given to Monsters like the Hive Tyrant.
This was such an awesome batrep and I loved the Banter. seeing Matt excited about the new nids means a lot. Also, that Hive Tyrant survived so much he is truly the 'Scourge of the Templar's'

Strange that the Assimilator cannot be active part of the Assimilation Swarm (=no harvester keyword...)....😅
However if you pick 3x1 base of Rippers you will be able to hide them and try to keep the bonuses going. Haruspex is very impressive...and the Tyranid Army is awesome!!!!

Needed to use the stratagem to put the crusader squad on lethal hits against the big monsters

Just to mention it: You are not allowed to stand ON an objective marker... so the psychophage at the start should have stood a little more to the right (no biggie..) BUT: the warriors, that charged couldnt get 3 in combat, since the third stood on the objective to be in CC...
We ignore that rule. And even GW does in tournament play.

I know 40k is all about the new Tyranids rn but that Templar army is badass lol. I do like those tyrant guard in green though.
This detachment sounds like one of the two weakest (down with crusher stampede). It forces you into a very concrete strategy of camping objectives + bringing 3 haruspexes (the only real good harvester unit) and/or phychophages, which are only real good vs psyker-heavy factions.
Relying on swarms as healers when they die in a single barrage from basically anything does not sound like a good plan.
Anyway, great video and it's nice to see it in action! I am starting tyranids and have only tried invasion fleet so far; but looking forward to trying out all these options. Synaptic nexus in particular seems like a lot of fun, and one that can finally make battle-shock matters.
Does OoM, which was put on a unit Tyrant+guards still works when it is only unit Tyrant left in game?
Interesting choice for detachment. I'm more hopeful for it than most but a bunch of people seem pretty down on it.

The big issue here, is that this is a BT army with more shooters than slappers. But I always enjoy watching my bois in Black purge.

i love playing 2 single units of pyrovours, i think that's their best use. although at 30 points, max units won't hurt the army

Another reason to not try to snipe character with broodlord. Halve damage rule applies to mortals in devastating wounds. REALLY unlikely to kill target :)

Why didn't the Broodlord activate his Hypnotic Gaze? A lot fewer attacks would have gone through. Or was that unit he charged normally hit on 2s?
I also keep on forgetting the -1 to hit with the broodlord, it really sucks to remember that that's a thing after your opponent just demolishes a heap of genestealer
Norn Emissary is smaller than expected but still looks cool
Kinda like that, makes it seem more like a Hive Tyrant bulked up a bit for combat.

@@Khobai Yeah, underwhelming. Will proxy my poor Dimachaeron as an Emissary, the far better choice and for some unfathomable reason 20pts cheaper.
@@vaettra1589 its 20 points cheaper because its attacks are lame s9 and only 2 damage. its useless against anything you actually need to kill.
@@vaettra1589 again not sure how you think its better when its like 280 points and cant even kill a leman russ. that is terrible. the assimilator is far stronger because it can actually kill things. A 4+ invuln save is great but being able to kill things is way better. is the assimilator worth 300 points? no but at least it has a chance of killing other units that are around 300 points like a rogal dorn tank. the emissary will struggle to even hurt them. A 280 point unit with S9 D2 attacks is absolutely horrible.

I'm building an assimilation army too recently and i think you can't give the "Regenerating Monstrosity" to the Hive Tyrant. It says Tyranids Models (excluding Monsters). Or am is missing something ?
What would you recommend as a good competetive assimilation swarm list?
During the first turn how was he able to draw line of sight on the rippers since they were behind the tyrant guard? Am I missing something here?

Isn't the Woundroll independend from the activation if a leaders bodyguards get killed?
That makes him a new unit so theoretically the woundroll is against that leaders Toughness? Sorry if I am wrong I always struggle with this one topic a bit.
How was Matt able to advance and charge with the genestealers turn 1? I thought units that advance can’t shoot or charge
If you put Oath on a bodyguard unit, and it dies, does the Leader still carry the Oath of Moment on it? Skari attacking the lone Hive Tyrant at 53:00 should it still have the Oath on it?
It stays on, effects put on the unit carries over the the lone character as explained in the developer commentary.

That was a fantastic battle, the space marines fought powerfully and valiantly but ultimately the swarm overtook them
Question: I didn´t found that the Justiciar can be a leader of the cursader. I there a roule i didn´t saw?
Late reply but any unit that can lead Intercessors can also lead Crusaders per a rule on the Crusader datasheet.

Not so familiar with the Tabletop Rules, but Is the Player with the 1st Turn in a massive advantage? Seems so.
Depends on the game, armies, and the terrain. If there is a lot of terrain then going first does not give as much of an advantage.
So... Black Templar basically walk through all the battlefield and kill by sword six guards and 10 genestealers on turn1?
Why no oath re-rolls when shooting the tyrant guard on turn 2?

New detachment rules - assimilation swarm. Not sure of the specifics myself, but it’s part of the new Tyranid codex.

Man I got to start selling paintied armys. Iv compared my paint jobs to a company called Blue Table Painting. Some are pretty good but I notice when they get new painters its just not as good. Im not tying to be rood Shawn seems like a great but but the quality of the modles gives me great hope as I can for sure paint better then that. Sure im a slower painter but the quality is more more. The price they charage to ! For the lower quality models. I cant free hand like pros but il get better. So instead of being a comminsion painter and paint whatever the client wants to make it easyer for me and keeq my quality high I will buy and paint a army as a hole with the color and units I choose then charge that. That way there is no presure on time because hey this guy might want a tournament army before a tournment and Id hate to under deliver before the turnament, After I get even better id imagine id paint what ever they want. I love your Tyranids they look great bud

Is it just me or is Tyranids... really bad compared to the marines? I mean... an entire tyrant guard melted like nothing, and an entire squad of stealers and two monsters can barely kill a unit of templars?
Yeah, as a fan of the bugs this was a fun BR to watch, but nids are just kinda depressing compared to space marines
Oath is definately a balanced ability and there's no need to worry about it.

Tyranids output has been really nerfed in 10th ed and the new codex doesn't change that. Poor strength and ap on most ranged and melee attacks. The new Norns look badass but are so underwhelming, same attack profile as a Hive Tyrant. And you pay through the nose for the silly harpoon attacks of the Assimilator. Silly, because they shouldn't be a thing in cc.
It doesn't help that their advices on nids is trash tier.
If you look at tyranid lists that performs well in events... they have very synergistic unit (eg: lots of gribleys/gargoyle in unending swarm) and loads of infiltrators and fire support monsters.
In a nutshell, it's not Tyranids being bad more so that they build fluffy lists that are bad.
WHY +5 FNP on primaris crusaders ? if it is only +6 with the vowl

You know the codex is a dud when the showcase battle reports make you wish he played the index rules.
Btw the Assimilator is so underwhelming, especially at 305pts.

I turn on the battle report, and in the first 10 seconds find out your ignoring the rules in the codex? The Regenerating Monstrosity cannot be used to double regenerate Tyrant Guard because the enhancement cannot be used on Monsters (and all of the leaders of Tyrant Guard are monsters). Also you need to be on an objective to regenerate.

I thought Ripper Swarms came in units of 3 or 6 but you had one Unit of 3 and two units of 2. Forgive me if I'm oblivious but I've never played a game of 40k myself and was looking at getting into a Tyranid army and was curious about that before I included ripper swarms in my list which I was considering. Thanks for reading!
The new codex changed them to units of 1-3.

@@miniwargaming so instead of people being able to bring a maximum of 18 ripper swarms now they can only take a maximum of 9 I presume. 3 squads of 3.
