    I have played in bands for almost 30 years. The first 5 years on guitar i was into metal because i didn't listen to anything else. 1 day a friend brought a video of Stevie Ray Vaughan live at the El Mocambo. Ever since then i dove into the blues realm and all the music surrounding it. I can't ever get enough of SRV's music.

      The live at El Mocambo gig is one of the greatest live shows to be captured on film ever,you feel the heat of the room,the sweat of everyone,smell the smoke & it must have been mega loud,what I would give to have been there,like you I love metal etc,but I remember hearing pride & joy & then watched this on VHS at the time & it blew me away mate,so wish I,d have seen him,one of the greatest 💔💔

    The SRV connections are very cool, but it also bears mentioning that Stephen seems like just the coolest, most decent guy to hang with.

    Thank you for sharing this story. My 27, 25 and 15 yr old kids were raised on Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Now I’m sharing it with new kids as young as 8. Your story reignited my love of their music.

    I saw the original interview and this follow up is great. I never doubted the voracity of the original story. Talk about “Walking in the footsteps of giants”. What an amazing story. Loved it.

    I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan a few months before he died in Hamilton, Canada, he opened for Joe Cocker. Great show, they even did a duet at end.
    Wasn't the best venue, a big hockey arena, would've preferred a small club setting. But hey, can't complain!

    Why isn’t there a movie about Stevie. He was an absolute genius.

    • @JJ-mb5kt

      No movie, no series… nobody could do him justice. We have ACL, Live at El Mocambo, etc etc. countless interviews.. the Real Thing. that’s all we’ve ever had, that’s all we need.

    • @JJ-mb5kt
      @JJ-mb5kt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Texasbluestunes I agree they shouldn’t but if they do it has to be a series not a movie. The queen movie sucked only good one is Ray IMO

      @@JJ-mb5kt that’s a tough one. They’d have to look like him and learn to sing similarly. Adam Driver? 🤷‍♂️

    Hehe... as long as you were talking to Mr Tobolowsky about the comments to his 'revelation', you could have mentioned my request to let us hear the outtakes... But the real reason I comment now is just to say that I'm pleased to see that Mr Tobolowsky looked after his copy of the album. Considering the album is now 50 years old (released in 1971- happy anniversary), his copy is in surprisingly good condition. My copy is in excellent condition too, but it doesn't have the poster. Most (of the few) copies of this that I've seen are really badly looked after (most of the students that bought it presumably knew what 'Hi' was referring to). So good on you Mr Tobolowsky for respecting this small part of music history that you found yourself in the middle of.

    This blew me away I've never known of this recording with Stevie Ray Vaigh On guitar. You could start to here his own style a couple of buts in both solos. What an absolute day starting treat! Stephen Tobolowsky was a legend before now he can add frontman who played with Stevie Ray Vaughn awesome!

    Growing up in Texas in the 80’s we got spoiled. We could see SRV and Eric Johnson regularly for very little money from Austin City Limits to Greene Hall and Cheatham Street Pub. It influenced me and many other guitar players/musicians and music lovers.

      Confirmed and so fricken cool to listen to and know you are listening to greatness and imagine those adult and fellow band members hearing that for the first time and how blown away they must of been. Like catching lightning in a bottle that you know at any time is going to blow up in your hands because nothing that genius or great could ever or should ever be contained but just simply left to its own devices and evolve and just be glad you where here to hear and witness it!!! God Bless Stevie Ray Vaughan!
