I love the little girl who sees herself on tv at 1:37. Such a genuine reaction.

Good to have a video as well as a audio sense of Blues (as well as American and British) history as it relates to Chess. Thanks for uploading.

She played Etta James really well, and she sang the songs very well. The whole movie was excellent.

Look at those Teletronix LA-2As at 3:59. There are at least 8 stacked on top of each other. That Chess studio must have been something else, let me tell you.

I love this documentary, one of many works documenting the various innovations of American artistes. But am I hearing things? One of the claims made by a British contributor, Mick Hucknall of Simply Red, actually said that the Rolling Stones were "one of the inventors of rock music". That is a ridiculously daft statement. Rock music had no British influence in it until it had been fully developed in the USA. We (the Brits) latched onto it wholeheartedly and made great contributions to it, but it was developed in America, and could not have evolved anywhere else. Why do filmmakers solicit the opinions of people who know nothing about the subject, but think they are experts?

Way I see it the blues came from America but the British contingent of musicians refined it sending back to where it came from

Your remarks are true although the rolling stones did have a big influence on the production of modern rock, post 1965. Most of that work was actually developed by the producers and engineers. Some of the song formulas of mick and Keith's song writing is in most true rocks dna. But it all came from the American blues and r&b.

One of Etta James’ BIGGEST fans was Janis Joplin! Janis used to go to Etta’s shows while she was still a college student in Texas. Etta’s influence was obvious in Janis’ singing voice and choice of songs. Just listen...

Also, what's funny is, while the racist ones were calling the chess family and others n lovers, what they don't know is that if u are not Rich and apart of the elite then u are the same very n racist call bp according to the rich and elite.. I would go into detail on it but people like wouldn't understand no matter how I broke it down..
