Thank you for posting this. I'm so glad someone took the time to speak so intelligently with Willie Dixon while that was still possible. This is such a treasure!
I wish I had video of Willie doing this for me when we were picking songs for my album in Chicago.. he would always do that double tap on his knees and sing the songs to me. I loved him to pieces. He had a plethora of great tunes that no one has even done yet. I still have the sheet music and lyrics in his handwriting..
Great, great interview with the Mastermind of Chicago Blues, Willie Dixon!!!! And what a great interviewer, along the lines of England's beautiful Paula Yates, able to bring out the best in her interviews!!! Includes Willie's deep philosophy on the Blues, "The Facts of Life" and an informal rendition of a recently composed song, "Good Advice." Just fascinating.
I would have liked a question along the lines of, “Willie, how did the residuals or royalty payments work for you over a long period of time, on songs like Spoonful covered by Cream or Back Door Man by the Doors? Just as two examples.”
A friend of mine spoke to Mrs Dixon. She said that the British rock musicians who took to the blues (Yardbirds, Stones, etc.) gave the appropriate credit and respect to the Black originators with one exception: Led Zeppelin. They were, she said, not respectful.
some people are cool, some people are great ,, some are geniuses,, however ,, this is the great WILLIE DIXON,, he is a GOD,,not just any God,, but a blues GOD,, fuck knows why barbie is interviewing him,, ?
Doesn't get more influential than this man. He was the bedrock upon which modern rock was established.
The world is a better place because of Willie Dixon.
No doubt about that.
Look at his timing even when he is singing without accompaniment . He is the best!
He did a brief series on PBS talking about and illustrating musically the blues.
I'd like to see that on the market.
I played with Dixon in 1984 thru 86#google Mike Morrison blues revue and see my pictures

LEGEND .
A very elegant speaker and an unheralded force in popular music. There should be courses taught on Mr. Dixon.
He was sweet talented and a humble genius.
So wonderful to listen to Willie discuss the blues. All of Chicago blues is Willie Dixon.
Willie’s rapping!!!
This national treasure bleeds music.

The world doesn’t make men like this anymore..
Thinking that is Karla DeVito interviewing Mr Dixon.
Led Zeppelin owes a lot of cash to this brilliant mans estate

@@nicmart Wasn't Jimmy Page *in* the Yardbirds?
@@wesleymantooth8016 Good point. She didn't say Yardbirds, and I didn't give it careful thought.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are both Frauds ....
Zeppelin- the greatest plagiarists of all time
During WW II he was arrested on stage during a performance as a conscientious objector for refusing to be drafted.

She did a better job than you could.
He didn’t write that song! J.B. Lenoir wrote that song lol
Why do you say something so nasty and ugly, Matt Walsh? Your opinion is unfounded and should be kept to yourself. 😡
