Thanks heaps for this one , I was quoted big money from a local Mitsubishi service centre and also given now obviously incorrect info in regards to the clunk , after watching this I spent no money on parts and simply just tightened the rear nuts and surprise surprise no more clunk👍
I had that issue you have with the clunk in rear axle. Eventually worked out the solution, tighten that axle nut to 250nm plus, as hard as you can go. Problem fixed and done about 200k since. The Aussie Pajero 4wd club public forum was a big help with this.
Finally got around to installing the anti clunk kit today. Took car for a short drive and can happily report that annoying driveline clunk now seems to be gone😀. A few observations on the install: 1. The factory nuts on both sides were virtually only finger tight - real easy to undo. 2. The flange on the new nut seems to be the same diameter as the factory nut however the new nut has about 5mm more thread on it. 3. The new nut takes a 35mm socket however could not get this to fit on the factory nut. Had to use a 36mm socket to fit the factory nut (but as outlined above hardly even needed in my case). 4. used a 3/4 inch drive "L" type extension bar (Selta Tools) on the 35mm impact socket and extended the handle with a 1.5m length of galv pipe. Really leant into it with that combination and that nut aint gunna move again! All up took about 2 hours to do both but that was just taking it easy. Also took the opportunity to clean up the brake calipers and blow the copious amount of dust out of the brake hub. All up fairly simple job (although you will need the right tools) and recommended for all that have that annoying driveline clunk!
Had the clunk. Tightened the nuts. Clunk went but it’s back again. I need to look into it more but I believe if that happens you’re looking to replace the shaft and the hub at the wheel as the splines no longer mesh properly.
@@Pat.Mustard these nuts are the fix apparently. Covers a bigger surface and is tight with the washer where the factory nut becomes loose and creates the clunk. Will see in 12 months how it goes
Looking for Roof rack, easily mount and remove bulbar front and back, Lift kit complete with all the off-road bushings including rear axle bushings. And some front small led bar mounting solutions for the grill or next to the mirrors got some IR circular projectors for night preditor hunting wondering how to mount them DIY. And those rubbery stripes next to the electric window mine is letting water get in so when I pull up the side door windows i can see they are wet even if outside is sunny so probably need to replace those also and rear towing ball.
My 2016 NX Pajero (130k on the clock) has a similar knocking sound especially when accelerating/decelerating. It comes from the rear and seems to be getting worse. I thought it may have been a worn uni joint? Do you think this fix would solve the issue?
I've been chasing the dreaded clonk issue and one of the things I've changed is the rear tail shaft as I was told the uni joints looked worn.. didnt help.. tried tightening the hub nut to 220nm.. didnt move at all.. going to try replacing the nut to see if it helps
Most likely the nuts. That would be the first thing to try and then move on to other stuff. Could be multiple things including rear bushes etc but would start with the nuts 🙌🏼
Does anyone know, when the Pajero is in 2WD does the front pop shaft rotate? Have had this knocking noise…..replaced trailing arm bushes, rear diff, rear prop shaft……mechanic now says it’s likely the front diff or prop shaft……think he’s just mugging me off now!!!!
I had my mechanic adjust my hand brake ages ago. He adjusted rear right hand. I feel since then my rear right rim always gets the brake dust pretty bad. Has he done this wrong. Should I back it off and adjust from centre concel. Just wanna stop the dam dust. Could you do a how to, to adjust hand brake. Boo hoo hoo And happy new year Thanks for sharing
Refreshing to see a decent automotive mechanic who takes the time and cares about attention to detail ! Well done guys ! 😊✌️

would that cause any damage, what is the factory torque spec for those nuts?

@ Nice. I’ll give them a go. Great to see the Pajero content and products.
What of when driving on rough roads, the calipers?
