    Please tell me the board flip at 0:07 was with a damaged/defective board because seeing that thing flip and smash on the table is giving me major levels of anxiety.

      That was exactly my thought! - And you had to grind it home in the slow-mo of the flip at the end! It was painful to watch in regular speed, let alone slow motion!

    Just today we encountered such a scenario in the game and made a decision as you said in this video, thanks =)

      that's awesome, that's the goal of the video. to help more folks understand the intricacies of the rules in cases like that.

    I'm not sure this situation was made crystal clear. If I hit my button out of play and it re-enters as a damaged disk and strikes my button only (and not an opponent's disk), does the result stand? Or is that considered an invalid shot and therefore my touched button that was in play is removed in addition to the damaged button?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If a disc leaves and comes back treat it like a foreign object. The color of the disc is irrelevant so what it hits is irrelevant. Haven't watched this in a while so can't remember what I said lol. But more recently I have used the verbiage of the color is irrelevant and that seems to help folks.

      @mejasiu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the same question as it wasn't clearly stated. So to summarize, if damage disk comes in moves things around it's all good just remove the damaged disk from the board and continue playing

    Lol at the ways we call the biscuits a different name. Also, great explaining this rule. I remember hearing somebody, Justin?, talking about not being a fan of this rule.

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that there are pros and cons to the rule but I don't know of a better way to have a rule in place that keeps things clear. Once we are on ESPN with instant replay etc we can change this rule for sure :-)

    Crazy question; If someone shoots for a 20 and it goes in......and stays vertical...does it count as a "20?" This actually happened!
    It literally did not fall over

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! As rare and fun as it is, it does not count as a 20. The disc must be laying completely flat in the centre hole to be considered a 20. You play it as it lays, and if it’s like that at the end of a round it counts as 15 points

    So can damage score a 20 due to the disc that left the board reentering and pushing another disc into the 20 hole? Is that what a "valid" shot means? Does it matter whether the pushed disc is that of the shooter or that of his opponent? I assume a disc that leaves the board, reenters and ends up in the 20 hole itself (as opposed to pushing another disc) does not count as 20 points? Thanks!

  • @tobhomott
    @tobhomott 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Say you miss all the other guy's pieces, then the shooter bounces back in, and knocks one of yours into the 20 without touching anything else. So it is not a valid shot. It sounds like you said the 20 still counts... Is this true?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would count. The re-entering disc is 'dead' so it basically doesn't matter which color the disc is or which color of disc it contact once it re-enters, damage stays.

    • @ericrm305
      @ericrm305 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that is a GREAT question. Which reminds me that the original official 'damage rule' at the World Crokinole Championship in Tavistock was that damage should be repaired - much to the dread of official referees and their consequent relief, and wholehearted support, when it was changed. Now if your scenario would have happened in the days of the old rule the answer would be easy, no. (I'm in no way advocating a return to the old rule - except maybe in this conundrum.) (...after mulling over this more) I'm thinking that the solution is that the present 'damage rule' overrides the valid shot requirement. The damage stays, the '20' counts.

    • @ericrm305
      @ericrm305 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Allow me to anticipate a counter argument. What about the rule that says that the if you don't make contact with an opposing colour disc that shot is invalid and that disc AND ANY OTHER DISCS OF THE SAME COLOUR IT MAKES CONTACT WITH WILL BE REMOVED.
      (Oh dear, we haven't had a can of worms like this in a long, long time - I defer to Fred Slater.)
