I am a 16 year old puertorriqueña. Thank you for teaching me how to cook because my mom says that this is the age to learn how to start cooking. This will be useful for me in the future. Gracias!!!
I’ve been making red beans in sauce for years but I make it very different than you do. I always sauté chopped onions and garlic in olive oil with a little salt, then I add the canned red beans the entire can, tomato sauce, adobo, sazon, cumin, oregano, homemade sofrito, cilantro and black pepper. Sometimes I’ll add potatoes, green peppers, and olives or corn. This is the way I was taught, but it goes to show that this dish can be made in different ways.
For those people making comments about too much sauce or whatever..... You are aware you can add whatever you want to the receipe? 🙈Right? ! ? Let’s give Credit where Credit is DUE! It’s a great recipe, authentic, add more or less, ITS UP TO YOU! I appreciate the person who posted this! Thank you! A little creativity, goes a long ways! ♥️😇😘
@amra Luz right??? Some of us like all that extra juice. I add more water and stuff because some of my kids hate beans but love the juice and potatoes lol

Greetings! I'm Puerto Rican, but I guess everybody has different ways of making beans. In addition to potatoes, I add pieces of cooking ham, and Calabasa. The Calabasa which is Pumpkin makes the beans heavy and with the ham is delicious.
I'm sorry I forgot to mention that if you use Cubitos knor, they are very salty, you don't need to use Adobo, since they are both salty your beans might come out salty, but like I mention before its to your liking.
