I think the test tank is one of the best things you added to your shop. It really cool to see the action of your lures up close. For a small lure, there is so much detail. Great job, and congrats on the one day.
Have you ever seen those spiral hanging wind ornaments that people hang on their porch? They twirl in the wind - could you make a bait that like twirls or drills through the water when you retrieve it? That would be a crazy totally different action. Maybe have a thin piece of wire through the whole thing so the hook wouldn't spin. So I had no idea that my home town invented a very similar lure back in the 50's called a "Joliet spinner" - look it up it's crazy!
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Love the bonus howling at the end. 😂 Awesome job on the final product, especially as a ONE DAY. I definitely need to get something like that in my tackle box.
Dude!!!!! best video ever so far it has everything chip, lavender line, meat scene, bait using soft plastic and wood bait putting it into a small glidebait, the paint sceam everything great video
Absolutely pure creativity. So satisfying to see the colors pop when the clearcoat is added. Been hooked on your videos! Yes pun intended. Thanks for the great entertaining content.
I kid you not I’ve been watching you for years and your bait making skills have gone through the roof. Your attention to detail is amazing. I’d totally buy a bait off of you and just hang it on my wall in a glass case
Good video. Nice bait. That action seemed great on it. Also, Chip cracks me up. Our dogs do that every day, all day. Sometimes it's when they see a cat in our yard, but mostly it's for no reason that I can see, and it's definitely mostly when I'm not ready for it. They'll be sitting right next to me and then just start going nuts and it usually scares the poop out of me. But hey, it's cheaper than an alarm system... maybe.
Found your channel a little while ago and since then I come here every night to relax and wind down. Awesome content mate; I'm going to make some of my own lures!
I love all the videos you make. You are the reason why I want to start making my own lures but idk where to start but keep up the great work and stay safe
I also didn't know where to start and i make pretty legit lures now. Buy some tools, balsa wood, find a lure that you want online and make the first one. Watch videos from this guy, watch the process and listen to his tips. Good luck!
100% agree with you on the big bait/small bait thing. A really good micro bait is so rare, I'd rather pay good money for that than on a large bait with the same action.
so glad i found your channel, i’ve been watching your videos for a while and you never disappoint, you inspired me to make my own fishing baits so i would like to say thankyou. thankyou for inspiring myself and many others
Man, chip really is the goodest of doggos! Got to make sure those alarms are heard and that they do not go on too long. :) This glidebait looked so damn good. I tried making a 2 part glider about 8cm long earlier this year but did not really achieve the glide. More of a nice swimming action on steady retrieve. Got to incorporate what I learnt from this video for my next try. Always learn something useful in your videos. Cheers from Sweden. :)
G'day, Nate. I just thought I'd get this out of the way... I think I've watched just about every video you've done, including the 'Behind the Scenes' with the Bait Maker's Wife, and, while I realise you're no beginner to airbrushing your lures, I shudder to see those first starkly contrasting colors you spray on, and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. you pull your pearlescent colors out and create the most beautiful, and artistically inspired lures! Kudos, my friend, wishing you Tight Lines from Australia!
I'm so glad you did this and a ONE DAY to boot! I love glide baits and have wanted to start fishing with smaller versions but have read reviews that they don't work/ glide as well. But if anyone can pull it off it's Nate.
What a great way to start a weekend by watching this vid. A lot of people wrote you about the song choice in the intro, I just want to thank you for all of Chips melodic contributions 😂 and also the shout-out to one of Canadas great folk artists that past away this week. 😢 Keep up the great work man! Watching north of the 49…. 👍🏻🇨🇦🎣
Hey man! Recently stumbled across your channel, it’s amazing. Your craft is insanely detailed and beautiful. Every video of yours leaves me appreciative of how artistic your work is. Keep doing what you do. Subscribed!
Big fan of all your work but something about this small profile bait that still has such a great action is awesome! Very well balanced and smooth. I offshore kayak fish and a lot of times the fish prefer the smaller profile baits so this was super cool to see
I may be partial to mini baits but this is my favorite so far. Beautiful! Have you considered putting in a water pump in your test tank to generate some current? May help to simulate a swim.
i really like the different music youve been putting in your video lately , it gives a different vib to every videos. and great job with that bait, you know its a good one when its o-fishialised before you show the action ahah
Well done on the one day looks great ,and works well it looks like the POND may have seen a little wind, lots of broken trees. Again well done. Cheers Aussie Chris.
Chip was just doing his due diligence in protecting you from loud noises!
That’s a good boy!
id rather hear ma boy sing than that alarm lol
day 1 of asking to paint a bait with drunk goggles on
Best video idea ever
Plzzzzzz
I second this
Jokes on you hes already wasted making all these 😂
AGREED
Best intro song ever, Dover by the Westerlies. Thanks for the morning vids, they go great with your favorite cup of coffee.
My dad has been a woodworker for like 30+ yrs, and were both big fishermen and youve inspired me to start making my own lures
you can send those to me, i can test those out in Estonia waters :D
Goodmorning Marling family, always a great morning when you get the ONE DAY notification!
hearing you say “chip it’s ok” and he looked at you for a second all reassured then went right back to howling really made laugh
One days are my favorite!! Been watching your videos for years.

You just blew my mind!
@@nathancox907 Right?! That thing would look siick
That would be amazing
Just wrap your line around a treble
or even put it on a swivel.
Quick tip you may not have tried for paint brushes is to super glue the bristles at the base of them to prevent them from falling out while you use it
good tip but the comma usage hurts my brain d;
@@kylesaric3652 removed it for you lol

Separating the halves with the final cut of the joint and the snap is always satisfying
Dr. Nathan Marling, first time caller, long time listener. Your take on an armored catfish would be most excellent.
Been loving the music choices in your videos recently. On to the next bait!
Man, this song you have for your intro just puts me in a good mood
Love the bonus howling at the end. 😂 Awesome job on the final product, especially as a ONE DAY. I definitely need to get something like that in my tackle box.
I like that background music. Nice. 👍
Marling Baits makes Iowa proud.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me, it’s great work every time! First.
Chip’s singing was spot on.
Dude!!!!! best video ever so far it has everything chip, lavender line, meat scene, bait using soft plastic and wood bait putting it into a small glidebait, the paint sceam everything great video
The Master has plied his skills once again. Perfecto~!~
Мастер и фанат своего дела - настоящий профессионал👍
I like the comment you made, this bait is for me. My dad always said when making baits We’re not worried about catching fish just the fisherman.
Absolutely pure creativity. So satisfying to see the colors pop when the clearcoat is added. Been hooked on your videos! Yes pun intended. Thanks for the great entertaining content.
Больше Спасибо за то, что Ты делаешь эти замечательные видео! Мне очень нравится и приятно смотреть! Спасибо❤
You sir have outdone yourself with that bait. Between the size, weight, and the dang paint job!!!! Goodness that gets me excited lol.
Bonus Barking 🤘🏽🤙🏽
I kid you not I’ve been watching you for years and your bait making skills have gone through the roof. Your attention to detail is amazing. I’d totally buy a bait off of you and just hang it on my wall in a glass case
That's an awesome little glide bait!! I'm in love with the downsized tackle! BFS has grabbed a hold of me tightly...
Yes!! Please more bigger smaller gliders, they are becoming popular
Loved the music in this one. Reminded me of The Band. Very good vibes. AWOOOOOONE DAY
My thumb is still healing .. thanks for starting another video with a table saw.. 👍 i must get over my fears !!...
this is one of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen

And Chip sings us out to close the video, LOL. A great day of fishing, and you came home with the lure, well done.
Love waking up to one day! Much love from the Texas coast ❤
Much needed video, plenty of chip, had dude chilling in the test tank, and just some beautiful bait work man. Appreciate the hell out of the content.
Found your channel a little while ago and since then I come here every night to relax and wind down. Awesome content mate; I'm going to make some of my own lures!
Amazing job that's a beautiful thing... Thanks for sharing
I love all the videos you make. You are the reason why I want to start making my own lures but idk where to start but keep up the great work and stay safe
Get some balsa wood, pick up a hoby knife and just try it. Name of the game is taking your time to get everytging close ti simetrical👌

You hit that out of the park- perfect!

Chips got some serious AAHHWOOOS! Awesome Bait! Love how easy you make its look. It's not, not even a littel .

Love the colours!!
Super clean One Day! Chip was really hootin and hollerin too!

Nate really like watching the one day videos especially when they are offical. Even if they aren't offical they look so cool. On to the next bait.
I can tell you what is official....
That you are the best bait maker! This looks insane💪
Oh great! Now Jason and Amanda need to come out with a line of Tail Fin molds because that was a fantastic use of that tail!!!
Love the “Sunday Morning” tunes in the intro
Marling baits video? Yes, yes I think I will watch it.
Learning the economics of lure sales, , , , , nice.
Beautiful bait. Amazing for a "One daayyy"
I love the opening music you used! one of my favs
Perfect video to get me hyped to get my boat out for the first time this year, love me some Chip 🐶
that paint looks amazing
That has a beautiful paint scheme
The action on that is fantastic
Might be best 1 day bait I've seen on the channel. Nice work!
Might start making lures to pass time on deployment! Binge watching your videos is great, keep them coming!
This is the perfect size lure in my opinion. I really like this one! (I like them all, but this one is my jam)
You gotten much better
2 piece baits are the best.
Great bait build as always.
Nice rod too. 😊😊
