    After lots of messages, comments, emails and other not-so-subtle nudges, I finally checked out On Ok Rock. And... Uhhh.... WOW!!!! What a voice! The band is great too, but hey, this is a voice channel :)
    I got shivers from the first few notes! Incredible tone and approach... I'm excited for you to dig into my first experience with Taka and One Ok Rock... I do some vocal analysis as well.
    When you understand a bit about how his voice works, you love it even more!!

    I have been listening to this band for so long and still freaking love them. I would highly suggest you react to Taka singing solo a cover of Adele's "Hello." It's so beautiful & honestly my favorite version of that song.

  • @tylerkim68
    @tylerkim68 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    The fact you made the almost immediate connection with Taka’s voice and Chester Bennington is incredible because he actually performed with Linkin park for the Chester Bennington tribute he sang Somewhere I Belong and I think he did a tribute with his own band to one more light. Taka has talked previously that Chester was a big influence in him becoming a vocalist and One Ok Rock was one of the openers for Linkin Park during their one more light tour before the tour was cancelled after Chester’s death.

  • @crosswithyou
    @crosswithyou ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Loved this video! Very in-depth analysis. I really hope you get the chance to see OOR live when they tour with Muse. (OOR is not opening on all tour dates so be careful; I'm sad they're not opening when my cousins will be attending in Oakland.) It's not enough to just call Taka an amazing vocalist. The things he can do with his voice and the emotions he evokes are just so good. At this performance at Tokyo Dome, Taka was actually a little bit sick, which added an extra little raspiness that I think makes the song even more emotional.
    You mentioned him reminding you of Chester, and actually the band was supposed to tour with Linkin Park before Chester's untimely passing. At Chester's tribute concert, Taka sang "Somewhere I Belong," but he was really nervous and wasn't quite able to sing to his potential.
    Really hope you check out more of ONE OK ROCK's music and post more videos! Would love to hear what you have to say.

    I don’t know much ab music theory etc, but I always find those analysis so intersting 😍 I’m glad you liked OOR so much, they are a great band. Taka said once, that he’s greatful to his parents for his genes, bc he got the high-ness of his voice from his mother and the power of his voice from his father (both singers, in diffrent genre) - yes, his voice was amazing to begin with, but he also improved a lot during those 17 years on stage ❤️
    Things with amazing voice you should totally check out:
    “TAKING OFF” Studio Jam Session (specifically this acustic version)
    also: Good goodbye (Saitama Superarena)
    and perhaps Clock Strikes, Take what you want, and if you wanna see him scream, One by One xD

      Taka singing an emotional song when he was a bit younger. He sings with great emotional timing using his voice. Taka’s singing reminds me of his Mother Mori Masako singing with her emotional voice and emotional timing in the way she sings her songs.

    So cool seeing Japanese music here
    Also I guess someone else probably asked this before but are you planning to make a video on Toru Kitajima aka TK? The way he creates that raw, slightly "whiny", sharp whispery quality to his voice, his way of screaming and all that
    Preferably as part of his band, Ling tosite sigure, it's somewhat underrated because of how much coverage his solo work gets

    I love your reactions.
    By all means, more ONE OK ROCK reactions! We want to hear and see it!
    More pop music. More acoustic songs. More marvelous noisy rock.
    Your response and timing in the cool part of your song is donpical to my thoughts.

    Next recommendation of OOR :
    I was King (Orchestra ver), Heartache (Live acoustic), Clock Strikes.
    it's nice to see your reaction.
    Taka (OOR/voc.) have a younger brother name Hiro who is in the same industry and same position as a vocalist in a band called MY FIRST STORY. They are similar but not the same. MFS songs are also quite good to listen to and even though Taka is still far above, Hiro's skills have also improved a lot.
    But actually I first knew and liked Hiro then I knew Taka.
    If you are interested in exploring new artists/singers and analyzing their character and singing abilities, there are many Japanese musicians who are like hidden gems there. Well though... TH-cam's copyright for Japanese content is sometimes harsher 🤦🏻‍♀️

    You should definitely react to the "Take What You Want" live version from the 2018 Ambitions Japan dome tour. This performance is phenomenal :D
