I'm japanese and I've read some of his interviews. He was born as a son of famous singer in japan(called Mori Shin-ichi an Enka singer) and was told to keep his voice in his childhood, so he had naturally known how to pull out his best voice without learning theory of mixed voice and such. Also he said that ''I can't figure out why i can sing like this and in high note." There in Japan are great rock or pop singers like Taka(Masato of COLDRAIN, Shinya Ishihara from Saucy Dog, Satoshi Fujihara from Official Hige Dandism, etc…). If interested, please listen! What could've been if Taka actually got to tour with Chester. Those two are a few of my all-time favorite vocalists and you can definitely hear the influence. Their respective bands all together would've been a complete monster of a performance.

When he is subtle and soft it's extreme and when he is aggressive it's extreme... he is really pretty amazing . most aggressive singers struggle to be subtle and vise versa.

Right now they are in the middle of their Japan tour, 10 shows in stadiums with 50,000 people and I couldn't get tickets. I was the 800th on the waiting list, so I gave up. taka's voice is naturally very whiny ,nasally and cracks and cries a lot. so he isn't doing all of these things on command always , that being said he is a phenomenal vocalist and used to scream really well too back in the day , i recommend listening to some of their old stuff too , like Liar to hear him pour his chest out in his screams

This is awesome. Is there a little bit of live tuning going on it this? It kinda has that sound to me, although it might be tuning on the reverb. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, I'm guessing it's there to get that modern vocal sound people are used to hearing.

If you like this vocal style Chris you really should check out Holding Absence - their singer Lucas Woodland is insanely good live and has this kind of emotion in his voice too. But he definitely uses lots more abandon in his style!
I got a suggestion for you. Check out a band called ‘Get Scared’. They have some similarities with My Chemical Romance but with a more metalcore sound. Good vocals and very catchy songs old and new!
We've gotten Jonny Craig covering him on Seven Years on your channel, but I'd love to see you do a breakdown of any of Anthony Green's projects (Circa Survive, Saosin, TSOAF, or his solo stuff). His control is great, his timbre is unique, and his full voice range for a male singer just goes so insanely high.
I'd want you to hear Inochi no Tabekata to analyze Eve's voice (he's a male singer) Even though his voice changed since that time (it became less brash but still looks like he's hitting high notes easily in his latest release "Bokurano")

I think you should definitely check out their heavier songs like Cry out or Make it out alive, where he goes full metal scream :D and then goes back to angel Taka in a split second. I know he is modest about his vocal abilities (at least that's what he shows in interviews) but there's gotta be training there, I cannot imagine that he just naturally can control his voice to such subtleties without hundreds of hours of practice and getting vocal training. Also that he is consistent concert after concert, big or small venue, doesn't matter (I saw them in a 1000 people concert hall in Budapest. He still sounded the same as in these videos). There must be an understanding of techniques and how the voice works. Can't imagine some is just born with all these techniques :)) and if you listen to very early OOR performances from the early 2000s, you can actually see how much his vocal abilities changed over the years. he was NOWHERE near this good when OOR started out.
His family is all musicians, and his father and mother are singers that everyone in Japan knows. Taka's younger brother also works in a band called MY FIRST STORY and his name is Hiro.Listen to his brother's music, too

I got a suggestion for you. Check out a band called ‘Get Scared’. They have some similarities with My Chemical Romance but with a more metalcore sound. Good vocals and very catchy songs old and new!
We've gotten Jonny Craig covering him on Seven Years on your channel, but I'd love to see you do a breakdown of any of Anthony Green's projects (Circa Survive, Saosin, TSOAF, or his solo stuff). His control is great, his timbre is unique, and his full voice range for a male singer just goes so insanely high.

I think you should definitely check out their heavier songs like Cry out or Make it out alive, where he goes full metal scream :D and then goes back to angel Taka in a split second. I know he is modest about his vocal abilities (at least that's what he shows in interviews) but there's gotta be training there, I cannot imagine that he just naturally can control his voice to such subtleties without hundreds of hours of practice and getting vocal training. Also that he is consistent concert after concert, big or small venue, doesn't matter (I saw them in a 1000 people concert hall in Budapest. He still sounded the same as in these videos). There must be an understanding of techniques and how the voice works. Can't imagine some is just born with all these techniques :)) and if you listen to very early OOR performances from the early 2000s, you can actually see how much his vocal abilities changed over the years. he was NOWHERE near this good when OOR started out.
