  • $6K in ONE MONTH flipping furniture? YES- Watch this video to see how I did it!
    I totaled the last 10 months of furniture flips and found that in my best month, I made a $5945 profit in one month part time flipping furniture. This video provides a detailed roadmap outlining how I was able to flip 10 sets/pieces of furniture in 30 days. In this video, I discuss how to select furniture, how to price it, where and how to market it, how to up-sell, how I refinish 2-3 pieces per weekend, how to restyle furniture and the golden rules of furniture flipping. I also provide before and after photos of the ten sets/pieces that I flipped to make a profit of $5945 in one month.
    Flipping furniture makes a great part time side hustle because you can do it in your spare time. As you will see in this video and the one posted below, you do NOT have to sand, strip or paint furniture to flip it and make money. In this video below, I sold a dining room set for $2500 that I paid only $300. In the video below, I detail how I did it.
    • Video
    This video outlines how to flip furniture including: how to determine what furniture to flip, the golden rules of furniture flipping, what to look for in used furniture, how much to sell it for, the process I use to prepare the furniture for sale, where I sell my flipped furniture, etc. I show the actual pieces of furniture that received a furniture makeover. Furniture flipping is a great side hustle because I easily get over $100 per hour flipping furniture. Of course, you have to know what you are doing and that is the intent of my channel. In my videos, I show you how to refinish furniture so you can sell if for a huge profit!
    Please feel free to put any questions in the comments. I DO respond to all comments.
    Of the ten sets of furniture/pieces that made up my total profit of $5945, nine of them were refinished and made over. I have found that sets of bedroom furniture sell well for me. In the video, discuss how you can determine what sells best in your market using facebook marketplace to determine what has sold recently in your area.

      You are so welcome! I am so glad I have been helpful. Be certain to flip what sells in your area- Do not try to do unique things because they may not sell. If I did nothing but white dressers with contemporary drawer pulls, I could easily make $2500-3000 per month. I suggest you evaluate what sells and flip those items that sell for the most. Try to get the used furniture for the lowest price and keep the rest of your expenses low. I never use expensive paint like Dixie Belles or Annie Sloan. Clients don't care what brand of paint you use. In fact, they like it when I use Behr because they can easily get more.

    This video is quite detailed and it is obvious that you are a business woman. I agree that you do not need to buy $40/quart paint when you can get Behr of another brand for $20 per quart. It is all the same from my experience. I am a new subscriber so I look forward to watching all of your videos as soon as they are released.

    Oh my gosh I couldn’t subscribe fast enough!! Thank you so much!!…I’ve been watching these types of videos for Months and I think I learned more from you in this one video, than all others combined!!
    Question, how do you find out what types of furniture (and color) sells best in your area?….
    I’ve tried Marketplace. But all I see is what people are currently selling. (Not what they’ve already sold). So I’m just curious if you go somewhere specific for this information. Thanks again so much for going into such great detail explaining your process.
    I can’t wait to watch your other videos!
    Edit: I forgot to ask you what you typically use for a top coat (specifically with your white pieces) and does it work well with all the different types of paint on the market (ie: chalk, mineral, fusion, latex)?
    Thank you so much in advance and I apologize for all the questions.

      Hi Sandy- I thought so too until I really started LOOKING! You find the furniture on the curb, friends give them to me, talk to realtors to see if they know of someone moving that wants to get rid of furniture, my local Habitat for humanity throws it in the dumbster if it is not in good shape, NEXTDOOR is a great source because there is not a lot of competition and Facebook Marketplace has a free section or just search FREE. You will be surprised. I have considered putting a post on Facebook marketplace telling people that I will pick up their unwanted furniture for FREE. Oh- there are also facebook groups where people can post FREE stuff . If you do not have one in your community, consider starting one! Watch my other video for lots more tips: th-cam.com/video/PLsZ_8Nbnf0/w-d-xo.html Cheers! Please consider becoming a subscriber to be notified of videos as I post them.

      Hi Julie- You will find the tools I use for each flip listed in each video for that flip. Of course, the tools vary based on what I am doing to restyle it. If I am not cutting off the bottom of a dresser or having to do a major repair/restyle then my basic tools are: ryobi orbital sander, paint brushes, car washing sponge, screw drivers, sand paper, old rags, paper towel and zip lock bags. I think those are probably the items I use on every single furniture makeover. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching my videos and please consider subscribing so you are notified any time I release a new video. Cheers!

Bendiciones.

    Hi. I am wondering what your thoughts are as to types of furniture to stay away from (or those you have a preference for). As time is important, I am thinking it makes sense to stay away from anything with hinges as they need to be removed, reinstalled and not painted. Also, your furniture is all very heavy and difficult for one person to move. Would it make sense to stay with smaller pieces for ease of transport? Thanks very much!

    Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure. I am here in rural Wisconsin, and it is a blah market here at the moment. After FB Marketplace started taking off and soaring, my previous revenues eBay and Craigslist died. In the beginning of Marketplace I was able to sell my pieces. Lately like 2-3 years, it is stagnant for a seller. I ended up donating 6 done pieces, due to moving to a house with no storage, it is the end of my adventure. I used to have local consignment store, 50/50, she would tell me what sells and I would do accordingly, and although the percentage was high, I still sold some furniture with her, but she closed the business. I love Bohemian - Boho style, bright funky, but learned to go pottery barn style..... no fun, but I even repainted some my lovely funky stuff into that clean look NO SALES. I am happy for everyone who does what they love - and are able to monetize it -and how. Good luck.

      Hi Lifebee. I have found that there are only certain things you can sell on FBM and make a profit. I can sell WHITE bedroom sets with a dresser and 2 nightstands (NOT ONE) every day of the week. A king size headboard + dresser+ 2 nightstands painted WHITE I can get $1500-2000 if they are solid wood and in a style that looks like C&B, or pottery barn etc. I cannot sell dining room sets, or any color of bedroom furniture other than white. If I paint them any other color then they will take a long time to sell. The market is very limited as to what people want. I am very picky now about the furniture I buy- it has to be wood- not mdf etc. I have found that I can buy good quality furniture for about the same price as mdf if I just look around. I am in Florida so traditional style and country does not sell. You have to know your market and sell what they want not what you want to paint.

    Thanks this was very helpful. I'm just starting out. can you tell me regarding the headboards, what size do you usually get, don't people have all different size bed frames, so how would they fit on the bed frame? thanks for more information...

    • @VelvetyMoon
      @VelvetyMoon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each headboard is for a different size bed. Sometimes the headboard and/or footboard comes with rails. But many of them are universals to fit metal side rails that hook on (google “hook on bed side rails”) and some fit metal side rails with bolt holes (google “bolt on bed side rails”. It helps in the sale, when flipping headboards and/or foot boards, to have rails to go with. These rails are $50 and up new so that could be an extra cost and hassle for someone.

    • @FurnitureFlippingForProfit
      @FurnitureFlippingForProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Emily. First I try to get them for free and I only buy them if they are complete with the rails footboard. I only get queen and king headboards and they have to be very simple designs. LIke this with slats. www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/brekke-slat-headboard-w004434914.html?piid=672390018 That way the headboards will go with different styles of furniture. I never spend more than $50 for a complete headboard. Of course you do not want to buy it if it's already been painted because it would take a LOT of work to strip it. It needs to have the original finish so you can easily paint a color to go with their other furniture. It is also a LOT easier to spray a headboard than it is to brush it on! I hope this helps! Please give the video a thumbs up!!!!

    This was very helpful. I’m a new furniture flipper. I’ve spent weeks on one piece, well, two pieces - a hutch with a bottom & top. Now I’m noticing a drip here, that leg doesn’t look smooth on the inside there. I’m now considering sanding it down and starting over. I also got worried about the white paint I used (Dixiebelle Fluff) and what sealant to put on. If I put Gator Hide in, is there going to be yellowing? I am driving myself insane. But I really want to do this. Is this normal for a newbie?
    What white paint and sealant do you use?

      Chalk paints work best for me but a little more expensive.

    • @FurnitureFlippingForProfit
      @FurnitureFlippingForProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Susan. I can definitely relate. I go CRAZY when I finish a piece. I keep seeing little things too! One one dresser in particular, I ended up repainting the top twice AFTER I had it finished because it got marred or I saw some flaw in it.
      I have used Varathane water based poly on white paint for over a year. I always put a primer on the piece before painting. The only time I saw any yellowing is when there was a little too much poly in an area or from a drip of poly. This is very very rare. Since I started using oil based primer, I think I have reduced any chance of yellowing.
      HOWEVER, I have been researching topcoats, I found that the manufacturers Minwax (polycrylic) and Varathane (water based poly) say that yellowing can occur on white paint over time. I have started using Crystalac amzn.to/3CwnUtX -- that is the amazon link. It is not supposed to yellow at all when used over white chalk paint. It is more expensive but I am going to use it for a few months and test it out.
      There is also a white paint by General Finishes that does not need a top coat and it is not supposed to yellow it is their white brushable enamel bit.ly/3weS7f3 I have not used it yet but it comes highly recommended and does not yellow. General Finishes have a long reputation of providing high quality paint and sealers so I trust them.
      I have not used Dixie Belle so I cannot give you any advice. I live in a large metropolitan area and the nearest retailer for Dixie Belle is a 45 min drive so it is simply inconvenient for me to use their products.
      I do not think there is much we can do about being a perfectionist! However, when I have clients come to buy my furniture, they frequently comment about how they can tell that care was taken in the refinishing of the item, etc so I believe it will help us in the long run because a good reputation is very important in this business.
      Best of luck flipping furniture.

      @@FurnitureFlippingForProfit Thanks so much for all the information. Given that my target market likes white, white and more white, I’ve got to figure this out. I’ll go a check out some of the reviews on Crystalac. You’re right, there’s not much to be done about being a perfectionists at this point. It’s frustrating when you’re just learning something. Mistakes will happen. I just need to figure out how to fix mistakes only and move on, not keep starting over. Thank you again for the information.

    Hello I was wondering if you do your restoring in a storage unit? I was thinking about doing that, but not sure if I could find a place that would let me. Also, do you flip fulltime? What is your average monthly profits like? I've been doing it on the side, but want to start taking it more seriously. Thanks for the great video content!

    • @krissymichele

      I know a few people who work out of their storage units; as they don’t have the room in their houses and both said they got permission beforehand. So I don’t think they mind, as long as you explain hat you’ll be putting drop clothes down/you won’t be spraying anything in there without a tent.
      As far as your other questions, she goes over everything in her video-
      She said she does this part time and she usually knocks out around 10 pieces a Month (2 per weekend) and her monthly profit margin is around $5,000-$6,000 (I think is what she said).

    I’ve recently started watching videos about furniture flipping and restoration, and I found this video to be a wonderful guideline, especially for a beginner.
    Would there possibly be a market directed to people who really like their own furniture but would just like it updated?

      Thanks Mrs Jax. You can do it! Just take your time and don't skip any steps. I always want to produce a high quality piece of furniture that I am proud of. Since you will be doing them one at a time I suggest you try to buy all wood furniture. It will sell better and frequently you get it for the same price as the particle board furniture. Also- watch my newer video about Heirloom Traditions paint. It is only one step and looks great! It may be easier for you to apply with a sponge instead of a brush. The finish is really nice and smooth! Here is the link th-cam.com/video/IgnzRtw5AW4/w-d-xo.html

      @FurnitureFlippingForProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would check out the SOLD price on facebook marketplace. You also need to be certain that you only flip furniture that WILL sell in your area. For example In my area white dressers sell very well. A dresser and 2 matching nightstands will always sell within 2 days of listing. Kitchen dining room sets do not sell for much. Watch this video - it explains how to find out what sells well in your area. th-cam.com/video/PLsZ_8Nbnf0/w-d-xo.html

      Hi Laura- Thank you. The truth is that most of my furniture is "staged" in photoshop. I take a photo from straight on and then use stock photos to add the background, floor and accessories. I no longer stage in real life. It is all done in Photoshop.

      Hi Victoria- I am always reminding myself that the average buyer on FBM shops a garage sales so they are looking for a good deal. They are not the buyer that walks into a high end furniture store. The photos and description helps to show them that the item you are selling is NOT garage sale quality furniture. Thanks for watching!
