Everytime I see someone picking a thick paint instead of just some subtle that'd just spice the wood grain I am getting afraid of the final result. But somehow you manage to find a balance and put together the woody texture with painted drawers which end up pretty well. I like your stuff!
I am pleased you found a useful tip in my video! Your fingers can heat up when doing it for a while so wear some gloves if needed ;) Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
I thought it was going to be too ashy with the grey stain But it worked. Although the wood and black color scheme looks good I was hoping to have seen it fully restored. Maybe next time. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. Sadly I am struggling to sell fully restored pieces here in NZ but I will absolutely do a few on the channel as they are certainly the most satisfying from my end!
Glad you opted to keep your wife. 😂 seriously, the two tone plus brass looks good. The basic style is what some call ‘mid century’ (and I call ‘unfortunate’) but it has its following, you gave someone what they’re looking for! With a need to bring something home to mama (since you decided to keep her and not the dresser), I totally get the need to make a cost effective flip. The photo you used for selling it on market place was brilliant. Under the vintage card and with the phonograph…that is seriously selling the sizzle! (Oooh ! Alliteration! Fun!) brilliant job of putting the piece in the best possible light! Thanks for sharing your work. I enjoy seeing perfectly functional furniture getting a fresh lease on life!
Selling the sizzle - I love that! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment (with some personality too!). I am also glad I opted to keep my wife, wise decision ;)
This piece is crazy beautiful. I’m not a wood purest by any means, but I’ll be honest I was a little scared when you started painting. However, you totally knocked it out of the park. Just, stunning!
Hey there Mr Cedar Pine, thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it! I am a fan and sub of yours, especially loved he Modern Century Table Restoration you did recently, such a great piece and you did an amazing job! I wish I could find something like that in NZ :)
STUNNING! Great styling at the end too. Love the style of the video too, mostly the close-ups and that you dont show each and every handle being intalled 😂😂. The music suits sooo beatifully 👏👏👏
Thank you, I am getting mixed reviews about the music, more for than against so I think I'll stick with it! Thank you for taking the time to comment :)
Awesome, I watch heaps of these types of videos for inspiration and tips. I was thrilled to come across your video as a fellow Kiwi. Great work. It can get frustrating to see what oversees people can get their hands on that we in New Zealand just can't get.
Hey mate, thank you for your kind words! I have been on the look out for other kiwi flippers on youtube, do you know of any? It is certainly frustrating seeing all the awesome products overseas, I wish shipping to NZ wasn't twice the price of the products I want to buy!! Bunnings for now :)
Well I have to say I was disappointed that you were painting the the drawers because it was a really beautiful piece. I was so wrong! The outcome was stunning thank you so much for posting!
Thank you, appreciate it! My wife is from the UK and we spent 6 months in Kent last year - beautiful place. Heading back for Xmas this year, looking forward to it!
I try to move my pieces quickly at a fair price point but to be honest I’m still finding my feet with pricing and you are right, I know if I was looking to buy a piece like this I would be expecting to pay more. I need to do some more research on this, appreciate your feedback 🙏
Cheers, the tv is a big help with staging as it has plenty of funky artwork. The rest is thanks to my wife, she loves a good coffee table book or ornament!
Total newbie here. I’m curious, what do you do with your rags after use? Do you toss? Wash? I’m so paranoid now after hearing how flammable they can be? I’m convinced my garage is a Molotov cocktail waiting to go off 😂
I hadn't put too much thought into how flammable they are!!! I do now ;) I wash any used for dusting, cleaning and water based paint but toss the oil based/mineral spirits rags when they are used to their full potential. I try to reuse as much as I can but I would be lying if I said I don't throw the occasional one away!
Great job you could have removed the brass strip on drawer front and made your life that little bit easier but non the less first class makeover mate proud of you another mid century item saved from the dump please dont ever throw away midcentury furniture its the you can get or buy
Where do you keep your furniture inventory? I really want to get into this business but I have no room in my house to keep every piece of furniture? Do you rent out an office space or do you have a basement or what?
Hey, I have been fortunate enough to have plenty of storage in my home (spare rooms or garage). But in reality my advice is, 3 pieces. 1 completed for sale, 1 in progress and 1 in line. If you have too pieces you have too many problems. Either they aren’t selling, you aren’t getting through them fast enough or you are becoming a hoarder ;) Best of luck with your venture 😎👌🏼
Thank you and thank you 😊 Scammers on marketplace? When buying I only pay when I pick up and when selling, I don’t part with anything until I have the money in my hot little hand. Fortunately the scammers are quite obvious in their messages and I can pick up on them very quickly and not waste my time with them.
Bro! Gorgeous. Man, and I'm hard to please. Very cuuuool! So Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin cool, especially if the other hardware would've worked out. But I get your take and it's still sexy.
Tried this flipping in Sweden but its a totally different market here. Nobody here is prepared to pay more because it looks new due to the work put down and mtrl cost.
Hahaha! “Out the door she goes…the drawers, not my wife”. It came out beautifully!
Haha, glad you got a laugh and enjoyed the video. Thank you :)
that one actually made me laugh hahahaha
That seriously made me laugh. Perfect delivery 😂
@@flipitnationI had to hit kkke after that one 😂
Dude that hack for sanding the legs is next level.
Cheers mate, the paper did warm up the fingers so if you are doing it for an extended period of time, I recommend gloves!
tip: take the tape off when the paint is still wet to avoid ripping it. love your work. keep them coming 😀
Noted... This I will try! Thank you very much :)
"The drawers, not my wife"😂😂
Gorgeous drawers and baby!
😂😂😂
Both the drawers and my son thank you for your kind words 😉
It turned out quite lovely. I wasn't sure about the stain but it actually looks nice with the black drawers. ❤
That makes two of us, haha. Thank goodness the results were not disastrous!
Your baby is so beautiful..reminds me of when my Adult babies was small...and a beautiful transformation on dresser too🥰👍
Thank you Debra, babies grow so fast don't they! I am hoping this little guy will get to help me out on some pieces in the future!
@@flipitnation yes I'm a mother of 4 adult babies and 7 Grandbabies..So Yes they grow in a blink...❣️

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. I will endeavour to do a video soon that doesn’t include paint, always a good challenge!
WOW! California here.. LOVELY renovation. Well done.
Cool, California!! Thank you for checking out my video and taking the time to comment :)
Love it! The leg in the drill for easy sanding is genius and I’m gonna be doing that from now on 😉 thanks for the tips!
I am pleased you found a useful tip in my video! Your fingers can heat up when doing it for a while so wear some gloves if needed ;) Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
I used the grey stain on my kitchen benchtops and just love it. You have given me so many ideas for some furniture I want to update soon.
Awesome! The grey stain isn't something I would have used but so glad I gave it a go. Best of luck with your furniture updates, have fun!

Loving your techniques, beautiful piece, GENIUS 👩🏽🦱👍👍👍👍👍
Gorgeous!!!! I would buy that in a heartbeat! You made it timeless and elegant. Great video
Thank you so much, that is a lovely comment :)

Awwww the cameo of your son is priceless ❤
Could watch these for hours.
A plastic hardware jig is such a time saver if you haven't seen one before :) they are like 5-10 bucks too.
I am going to order one from Amazon now, thank you for the tip!
This video just popped up in my feed, and I'm so glad it did! The dresser is awesome!!! And the baby!!! 😭
SUBSCRIBED!

Adding black detail to the dove tail joints would have made them pop. It's a stunning restore/refinish ❤
Ooooh I agree!!! Hind sight!!! Thank you :)
Thank you for sharing, beautiful
You are so welcome, thank you for watching and commenting :)
Cool styling 😎
Thank you Heidi :)
New subscriber here. Wonder job in this piece. I love black and wood tones. That’s my favorite color combo. Keep up the great work.

What I found works best for me is music at the beginning and at the end. In the middle I really like just the sound of tools and explanations
I took your advice for my most recent upload 😎
Awesome job!!! Love your channel. Sending love from Maine ❤❤❤❤
Thank you 🙏 Wow, Maine - cool!! I’ve not been to your part of the world but hear amazing things 😎💙

Thank you, appreciate that :)
I must say it turned out beautiful! I'm not a big fan of paint but some pieces just wear it well.
Получилась очень элегантная вещь. Поздравляю

Definitely keep talking. Love your videos, thanks. 😊
Pitted black paint job of you would have sanded it between coats it would have been smoother. Still love the dresser ❤
Nicely done. I'm particularly impressed by your presentation. As if you're buying accessories just to present the furniture you sell...

Very nice work.
Yes, first video and it was a New Zealander! Makes my life easier when wanting to do this because I live i NZ :)
Hey! I split my time between NZ and the UK but hopefully you will find something useful in all of my videos :) Cheers for tuning in 😎
You made the piece so beautiful. I feel you under priced it. Gorgeous baby.
Thank you for your feedback, I tend to agree with you. I think I was going for a quick sale but maybe a little too quick!
Love you’re accent saying “ giving it a go” is that an NZ thing to say ?? Love this from Wisconsin
Hey over in Wisconsin, nice to have you on my channel! It’s a popular saying in NZ and Australia, “having a crack” means the same thing also 🤣
You are so crafty
Were you able to make that dresser so nice in just 1 day? How long did it take
What paint do you use out if curiosity, I know alot if people use chalk paint I was wondering what your preference was?
Amazing 👏
Amazing
Great job! I just uploaded my latest project 😀
I'll check it out! Thank you!

Why did you paint the drawers? 😢
Where have you been all my life??❤
Paint is glue, remove your tape before it dries and you will have a much easier time.
Nice
Thank you
How much you make
why not take the old handles off and place one of them in the middle?
Not a bad shout.
❤
Not loving how you can still see the old holes from previous hardware, and new hardware isn't fully covered in the new paint
Fair enough!
Great mid century chest.

It was nice but every time I see beautiful wood painted, it hurts my heart..

Yuck....when are you flipper going to be done with the green....yuck yuck
It was black. Far from green. But I do like green. Have a fantastic day and may your days be less green and mine be greener. Yay yay yay.
