  • This is a Prince Super Bowl Halftime Show Reaction. After I researched and tell The Prince Super Bowl Story. This is part first time Prince reaction of the Prince Half time show (because I had never seen it ) but also I went down the rabbit hole with behind the scenes as well as the significance since Prince death. A halftime show reaction 2023 is different than how it was perceived in 2007 and all the controversies are also discussed.

    I loved all the little tidbits of information. 🥰 I was in 7th grade when this aired, and I remember all of the “phallic” commentary after, and I just remember thinking that everyone completely missed the entire experience by drumming up controversy where there wasn’t any.
    Also, just as a side note, Prince was planning to end his memoir with the super bowl performance. He started it with his childhood, and he got about 50 pages done before he passed. Definitely worth the read though; the co-author’s commentary is fantastic as well.

      You know I wondered about this? I know it was released after he passed away. So I was wondering how much input he actually had on the final product. But they said his intention at the time was to start it with the Super Bowl, and then flashback to his childhood. It’s definitely gonna be something I read! Thank you!

    • @smh93
      @smh93 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@popcornphilosopher He said he wanted to start with his childhood and hopefully make it to the super bowl performance. The exact quote from the press release in March 2016 was, “we’re starting right at the beginning - my first memory - and hopefully we can move all the way to the Super Bowl.” 🥰 I was working for him when he passed, and him and his assistant, Meron, went to one of his childhood homes to see if they could take some pictures for the book. And Prince had on a black sweatshirt with the hood up, trying to hide his face. They vaguely said they were working on a book and wanted to know if they could take photos, and the homeowner was like, “I know who you are! You’re Prince!” And P tried to hide and said, “No, I’m not.” 😂😂😂😂 Incredible book though. He told the co-author that his goal with the book was to cure racism. 💜

      @@popcornphilosopher Yeah. ☺️ I knew him for like 9 1/2 years before he asked me to do some work for him, so that probably helped. 😂 He was very much a “I don’t care how you do it as long as it gets done” kind of boss, at least for the work I was doing, so that was super empowering and gave me a lot of room to be creative in my approach to each task. 💜

    I saw him live on two consecutive evenings during the "Sign o' the Times"-Tour in Berlin in 1987. I was nineteen then, and a fan since "Purple Rain". On the second evening, he must have thought: "Maybe there are some people who were already here yesterday. It's the same city. So I have to give them something new and special." And he played longer, different versions of the songs. He improvised a lot. The second evening was like a deluxe version of the first. It was like you had to be there on the first to fully understand and appreciate the second. That's the kind of musician and entertainer he was. Let me try to put it in other words: When you were there on the first evening, you got a fantastic concert. When you were there on the second evening, you got an even more fantastic concert. When you were there on both evenings, it was as if Prince took you aside as a personal friend to show you how music works, when it's done with heart and soul.

      What I never witnessed though, is one of his famous 2nd gigs in small clubs. He did one in Berlin on these two nights, but it was the pre-internet era, it was almost impossible to get the information about the location, and I only heard about it afterwards. Perhaps someone who was on one of these can tell you more about it.@@popcornphilosopher

    I saw Prince for the first time on the "Lovesexy" tour. I remember thinking at intermission that I couldn't believe there was much more to come. He had already exceeded every expectation. "Was that good for you, was that what you wanted me to be?" And then we got more. And he played and we couldn't sit down. We screamed until our voices gave out and our palms hurt from all the applause. This was a true legend. In contrast, at Madonna's MDNA tour, she started the show over 3 hours late with no apologies. She continued to be as late in other cities during this MDNA tour. DIVA behavior. Most of the performance was her singing to track. I've come to the realization that her talent is in marketing and the DVDs of live shows have been expertly edited to feature the highlights. Perhaps she was once amazing live but Elton John, Michael Jackson, and Prince all dismissed her as a great vocalist. I sincerely hope that someone got to see Madonna in her prime and had a different experience. I can't say every Prince concert I attended was a home run. He was always authentic and extremely talented. He played guitar, piano, and bass better than his session players. You can't deny the energy of this iconic performance. I can't even place Madonna and Prince in the same category when comparing their live performances. I applaud Madonna for her influence and industry success but she is better suited for studio and video performances. This was just my experience. I would love to hear if anyone else was able to see these two icons live and share their thoughts. Great job with the research and creating another interesting video.

      You’re so lucky you got to see prince live numerous times. I regret so much, not seeing him. I think it’s a combination of different elements of talents that make people interested in an artist. Prince is just very evident because he’s such a virtuoso.. madonnas talents are different. I love them both. That’s interesting a couple of people I know said they liked the MDNA tour. Although That’s notoriously Mdonna’s worst era musically. The album wasn’t good even said she was more focused on directing WE and she was getting divorced then too. I love Madonna but one thing is I don’t like the way she treats people sometimes. If she was that late she still should’ve said something. But I have heard people say that saw various shows and it was something they’ll never forget. Definitely early ones like blonde ambition and girlie show. I

    • @leannemiller9514
      @leannemiller9514 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Prince had his own DIVA behavior to be sure. Your "tissue" story is a perfect example of something that he would do. It's unfortunate that sometimes artists make excuses or surround themselves with "yes" men/women. I think Prince may have been guilty of that. Obviously touring takes a toll and I pray Madonna's new retro tour doesn't have a negative impact on her health. So many artists that started when she did quickly disappeared while she continued to reinvent herself. I wish my one Madonna concert experience could have been better. I was really looking forward to it. I think that 3-hour delay which pushed the MDNA show past midnight impacted my mood and therefore my appreciation of the performance.
