  • In this installment, I get the console mounted to the truck and do a lot of the wiring for the accessories. Because over the years I have added system after system, I took the time to clean up a lot of the wiring, labelling it both under the hood and under the dash and console. Most everything went according to plan. As always there's still something that needs more investigation.

@@sikk84mcss i’d have to pull the console to do that, sorry. Just template the factory holes in your truck and build your brackets from there. I wasn’t doing anything terribly scientific with it. Just mocked up until I got the height and position I was comfortable with. Again, something I never intent to build again, I usually don’t write things down.

Great build video. I have a 2004 Avalanche that I am looking at changing the sub woofer in the center console. I am inspired now to go farther than I had planned. How does the sub sound? Great job.

I know this comment is 2 years old. But this isn't always the case. Many mfg's, Chevy included have both black/white stripe as well as just black for ground. Chevy also uses black/white for power for some things. Why I don't know, but always reference the wiring diagrams to be sure!

Cringe all you want. It isn’t your truck, you’re not doing the work. This ain’t a brand new Cadillac Escalade. It’s a 23 year old Chevy. *Nothing* is clean or perfect in this truck, but it all works the way I want it to most days.

@@caseyrose5166 how old are you kid? You not have anyone teach you proper manners in your life? Do you walk into people’s houses and start criticizing them for no apparent reason? If so, I get your inexcusable lack of courtesy. If not, why are you doing it on line? At what point did you believe I wanted advice from a punk who is obviously jealous of a lifetime of buying tools? When you learn to behave more courteously, maybe then people will actually want to converse with you. Until then, you’re likely to get the same response I am giving you right now.

@@rockymtnredneck4888 First of all, I'm not a kid, I'm 40 (not that it matters). My manners are fine. I could have been much more rude. Where was I discourteous? I didn't realize you were so sensitive. Second, I've been installing car audio and doing custom fabrication for nearly 25 years. I made a simple comment about panel tools and you just lost your mind. Being immediately defensive, flailing with insults and name calling. Then you accuse me of trolling online. I pretty much never comment on TH-cam. When I do, I never say anything I wouldn't say to anyone's face. I think if we were face to face, you might feel differently about responding the way you did. Last, I own many Dewalt tools, that's why I know what they cost.

@@caseyrose5166 you’re 40 and you still haven’t figured out how to be courteous? I have not “lost my mind” I just have zero patience for negativity. The comment you made, “cringe, “ I would *never* make. I don’t care how right I feel I may be. 90% of human communication is non-verbal. Text loses *all* of that context. So you may feel you are not being rude, but sorry, you are. Perhaps you should consider that most of what I do is *not* oriented to pros. I am showing people the with a basic garage and basic tools you can still do a LOT of your own work. You don’t have to have everything you see in 5 Star Car Audio’s shop. And Face to face? Maybe I would, maybe I wouldn’t feel different. I’m just sick of the way people treat eachother. And, yes, I will respond to rudeness with rudeness.
