I'm not giving a ton of details on my process, just a broad over view. some of the details are in my Instagram Reelz, some in my Shorts here on TH-cam. But here's the culmination of all the work since May when I discovered how bad the rust issues were that Linex left me with. I believe I have remedied the issue fairly well. That and I have returned the truck to the color I always wanted.

@@VatorTech maybe my eyes don’t work as well, but I don’t see a black line. I saw one line with printing, one bare. Is that what you’re talking about? @@Lee-nr5xv yeah, LEDs will usually handle from 9 to 32 volts. So if you have a mil surplus vehicle with a 24v system you can put LEDs on it, no special type needed. That also opens up a range of batteries you can use to test polarity.

What are you asking?
@@rockymtnredneck4888sorry that was a typo . @@rockymtnredneck4888I’m doing this tomorrow on my new parking lenses for my 98 suburban. Should I do any Scotch Brite scuffing first ? @@Chevro91 glad you found it! I wouldn’t have remembered. And yeah, it was pretty close. I liked the effect. New grill and lights now. You need to go light coats till you get what you want.
@@rockymtnredneck4888 Do you suppose the Negative reaction you had to the dupli-color brand metal cast and rustoleum will be just as likely to occur with any other brand of clear coat ? Or was that in part to the drying time applying the clear to soon ? I just wondered if that was because of a non conventional paint being a metal cast type of paint I wouldn’t mind making it permanent once it’s sprayed on .. as in Auto grade clear so it don’t peel / or easily allow bug guts to eat into the amber paint . I have kind of a show quality truck .. well kept and partially restored so this is hopefully gonna go well ..
Beautiful ride, yes for sure it's a lot of money but still cheaper than buying a new truck made out of plastic. Great build, I have a factory 6.5 turbo 94 suburban with a 6" lift and it's a ton of fun. Enjoy it 👍
Glad to see your back. There are some of us that really enjoy your videos. Keep em coming!
Apreciate the support. I’ll post stuff when I can, when I am doing something of note.
Nice work. I 100% know where you are coming from. Been doing youtube for about 6 years now and I have little to no desire to continue. There is little to no pay. Its fun as a hobby but if you want to make money you might as well forget it. Im burnt out and I can only imagine if they started to flag my old videos. Such a bummer but like you said you will just go on building cars without videoing it. Thats what I started to do. I built a whole Denali and not once have I pulled my camera out. Im sure ill do a video on it eventually but for now im just going to have fun. Good luck with everything and I love all the stuff you have done to that truck.
Apreciate it, brother. I’ve loved all your wacky builds. I’d totally drive several of your trucks; demise of the Turtle was sad. I guess if I post anything from here on out it’s gonna be back to what it was before I was monetized. Just doing it to interact with the other dudes doing the best they can in their garages.
I don't think they polish the cheaper stainless. No point because it slowly tarnishes. When i was welding my stainless headers for the big block in my 80 Silverado project i noticed it was a little harder to weld. I was using stainless wire but it wanted to fight me. A tig would be ideal.
Exactly. I noticed the old 304 could be cleaned up real easy with a wire brush. They places it corrodes is where it was welded an where it was bent. From what I read, it has less chromium than 409. I was using the standard MIG wire I use on everything I do. Had a small roll of .025 wire left over from the body work. Honestly, it was easier with the normal .030 wire once that ran out. I’d blow through the pipe when not careful, but the higher heat somehow helped. I did have several pin holes to plug after first fire up, too. Cold temps helped find them. Again, I’m wondering how long it’ll hold together.
I wonder if those O2 sensors should have been installed before the x muffler. So they were reading the left and right banks separately.
That’s my whole concern. There are the sensors right after the manifold. Then the sensors after the cats, right. The x pipe is supposed to be as close to the manifold as possible from what I’ve read. I’m wondering how much it matters since it’s not a true X pipe. It’s basically a double Y. The computer doesn’t seem to care right now. What I’m more worried about is the welds on the 409 stainless. Will they hold up? Supposed to weld that with TIG and specific rods. Leaves me wondering if I’ll be back with 304 pieces to redo it all.
It’s perfectly fine to weld stainless with mild steer or vice versa.
@@mikewatkins4512 I sure hope so. I can’t find much that says what will happen. I can see how the 304 faired over the last decade. I hope I’m okay with having done it with 409. I understand the generalities of using TIG and certain filler rods, sure. That’s ideal. I’ve stepped into what if territory.
@@rockymtnredneck4888 I get confused with what stainless is the better one. The 409 is the cheaper stuff. I used that on Dad's Camaro and my 70 Chevy truck. You can weld 409 with regular wire no problem. I have done that. The 304 is the better stainless. That is what you find polished. That is what the headers on my 80 Chevy truck are. I am not as confident that you can weld 304 with steel wire. As far as the O2 sensors if those are after the cats they aren't very important from what I have found. They won't effect how the motor runs. It's just so the computer can see what is happening. The important sensors are before the cats.
@@mossman381 dude, I get confused on it all, too. 409 is the high chromium content, polished. 304 is low chromium hardly ever polished. I had to go look it up after the first day I was trying to weld it. Some were saying the 304 barely counts as stainless. Additionally, I relooked at my order and I did in fact order those kits in 409, when I meant to order them in 304. Everything else was 304. This also tells you how long ago I bought all the parts. They sat for a while waiting for me to get the time to work on them.
glad to see you any way
Its definitely not the prettiest welds but you did it yourself and saved a boatload of money paying someone else to do a half ass job. Looks good. I just did an exhaust on my k5 blazer last weekend . Ugly welds but it will hold and if it doesn't ill fix it
Yeah, I feel like my lack of attention to what steel I was buying for the tubing lead to my welding woes. Expensive mistake. If need be, now I know exactly which mandrel bent pieces I need to order in 304 stainless.
Exhaust is impressive 3 inch
Thank you. Ton of work for me. I have my doubts about the welds on the 409 stainless, but we’ll see.
Been missing the content 'mano! Hope all is well! This makes me want to finally put an exhaust on my Tahoe might call around for some pricing

Any Idea how much air this can flow? I have a 5.9 cummings, and just wondering if it would flow enough air for that engine. It looks like you have a big block? how many horses does that enging make?
No Idea what air flow it makes. I do know it is way larger than the stock "sippy-straw" that went down behind the turn signals for intake. I have a 454 pushing about over 300 at the wheels last time it was dyno'ed. See my vids on the Procharger.
how much does the tube block your vision at the right A pillar when you go to look for cars as you turn?
Doesn't bother me. I heated and bent it into place to give the best visibility possible.

Did your battery light turn on when it died? My dies at 70 and rpm’s go to 0. Pull over and a couple minutes later it’ll start. Alternator replaced, fuel pump replaced
ICM dies, everything comes on. Whole issue went away once I uninstalled the MSD Ignition system. Those were great on 70s and 80s trucks, not on the 90s trucks.
Great job and sure a lot of time building this sucker. Thanks for the video. I’m only in at 22 minutes of the video so hopefully you finished it and take it forms spin. I’m curious about the plastic rattling.
It’s solid I don’t get rattling on or off road from the music or not.
PL premium glue will take care of any cracks and air leak spaces no problem just FYI for next time. Very nice job. Exactly what I need help figuring out for my truck. People aren’t creative enough today in finding locations to fit proper sized subs in vehicles. Everyone wants to put small 6.5” or 8” subs under seats, or even shallow mount 10”/12” drivers when I know good and well with some creativity in enclosure design some large motor 12” drivers could be squeezed into most vehicles.
Yeah, PL is a way to go. Fiberglass is something I normally have on hand. Yeah, I think you’re right about finding a place to fit things. That’s probably why this vid has been one of my most watched. I looked at the size of the console and what air volume I could get given the other things I needed the console for. Not even sure I have the volume for peak performance, but it does what I want it to do and that is the key for any build.
