You should rethink this project and do it to an Envoy XUV. It already has the the dividing wall with roll down window in the middle and the back part is water prof.
Try heating up a 3/4 inch or similar sized pipe and use it to melt the carpet where your hole needs to go. Clean and round and won't fray. Excited to see what's coming on your channel!
It's good to see someone else doing factory style stuff and keeping it that way. So many people buy some aftermarket ebay console and throw it it. In most rigs they look out of place. That looks like how it should have been done.
I like your style of customizing. Clean and simple. It really dresses the truck up. I think they made the short consoles for 4x4 trucks that had floor shifters and trucks with manual transmissions.
I’ve owned all those years and the best console was the 88-94 . It had cup holders that pull out for more storage and it was very deep and wide. The sliding tray was extremely useful as that held the everyday stuff, the front pocket was for gloves and hate. Rear was junk and all my tie downs went under the cup holder.

I have the 99 00 Yukon/escalade console in my 1998 extended cab I wouldn't go any other way. Iv tried the 07+ console and seats an took them back out after a couple hours of fab. The escalade console bolts straight up. And fits perfectly to the dash. I find that the 99_06 console leans to far forward. And also you don't burn your truck all up by welding in your truck. Love the content LT.
I really did want to do the Yukon Escalade console like you have, but with the floor shift transfer case, it wouldn't look right without some drastic mods (in my opinion) so I wanted the shorter console.
@@LawrenceTolman yes your 100% right my truck is 2wd so it worked perfectly. I'm really looking forward to all the awesome content you have coming. Hope to see a new shop in the near future. Iv been a fan of yours since day 1 on power block.

I dig it man. Good work. I find the CD holder works great for oversized water bottles though. I bought a late 80s console to do exactly what you are doing lol
You could always buy or borrow a plastic welder to attach filler panels to the holes on the front and passenger side of your console. Then, hit the seams with a little plastic filler, sand it smooth before you paint it, and you'd never know they was there.
Love the mods thus far. I will keep my eyes open for the block off plate when I’m out in the yards. For all it’s worth I would not pursue the Avalanche mod on that truck...I think it’s going to mess up what appears to be a decent survivor Suburban. Looking forward to your next upload.
LT can you one day go over that LS oil pump DIY upgrade? Drilling the dimples, minor grinding? Title it what it is. Even if you could go over the oil feed/drain to turbo, the barbell, oil coolers. It would be great to have 1 video covering it. Your explanations are clear, to the point and descriptive. Always easy to follow, learn apply to real life. Thank you.
Last upload I asked about a dye color for the interior. Well since then I bought a can of duplicolor medium gray its a near perfect match. Figured I would let you know
You could use a piece of holster making kydex to cover up that spot. It's heat moldable. The texture I think would be pretty close. You could get it in the right color you want
My '98 'Burb came with the rare console that had a Monitor/DVD player built into it. The monitor had been replaced at some point with a different model (but same size), CRT type and the overall console was in sad shape. I Managed to find the standard model and swapped it. Never thought of trying the newer version though! Looks great. A little woodworking would have made a nice panel for the front and a good place for a CB radio (remember those?).
Man i really enjoy your channel , i wish had found it earlier, your down to earth and explain things so clearly, looking forward to more projects, great job.
nice job on that I have a 94 Diesel that I will swap out the factory console for one like that as the 94 cup holder does not fit any modern bottles or cups.
Preciate the video! I have a 98 GMC Sierra w bucket seats but hate the CD holder of the console and like you said the cup shakers are useless! I was looking at using the 02 40-20-40 split seats w flip up console just for the 2 cup holders at the base or go w the 08-13 same set up for the 3 cup holders in the flip part. I don’t like full consoles but forgot those used a 2 piece! Definitely going to grab one up next chance I get!
Looks great... I did this on my LIMITED 10 plus years ago... I also integrated the top portion of the center console to the dash... I wish I would have used the Denali/Escalade (one long center console)
Old video, but i put a 99-2000 denali console in my 99 2door Tahoe. It's a full length console. Right up to the dash. Looks 100% better an rest is taller as well. Bad news is the are only a 2 year option in a Denali only
Do a little research. I had a 2001 tahoe that had the center console but didn't full connect to the dash. It had a block off plate on the front from the factory. Kinda rare but they are out there
That looks so good man. You can totally add a nice console to ugly truck from 07-13 models of the same truck. For traction in my extended cab, I want to put a gear upgrade in it to get the obvious benefits but is there a way you could have a way to get traction when pulling out in traffic but be able to switch it to do a burnout at will if you want.
