    I have not only been to the Biltmore, but I worked there for almost two years. I love it there. The family is so down to earth, attentive to detail, and always consider if their visions for the estate are aligned with their ancestors original plans. There is so much to see and do! It’s like walking into luxurious history.

    Just came back from Biltmore just a few days ago for my 52nd birthday! I first visited 2 years ago when I turned 50. It was memorable! It is wonderful place to see and visit. I have been back to the estate close to a half dozen times in the last 2 years. I absolutely love Biltmore! My Dad and mom visited years ago. My mama told me all about ! I had wanted to visit for years and so me and a friend went to Ashville and the rest is history as they say. If you haven't been.....Go and see and see Biltmore! It's worth the visit! ❤

    I absolutely loved this one. I've been to the Biltmore and it's exquisite. It's always impressed me how the family has taken care of their legacy while growing and planning for the future. Thanks for highlighting what they do.

    We went to the biltmore estate last August. We loved it, we spent 2 days exploring the house and the village. We loved everything about it, and our goal is to go back during Christmas and stay at the inn. We loved the biltmore and plan on coming back. The staff and guides were super nice, helpful, and kind.

      The Biltmore at Christmas is absolutely gorgeous! You should try to see it decorated. I’ve been twice. I took my mother before she passed away when it was decorated for Christmas and she was overwhelmed with the splendor of it. So happy I could do that for her. A lovely memory! ❤

      @TooStinkinFine that is awesome, I'm so happy you got to do that with your mom. We want to go at Christmas, I've seen pics of it decorated and it looks amazing. However, I'm sure in person, is a 1000 times better.

    Asheville has its beautiful charm..The Biltmore grounds are just absolutely beautiful.... I went last November and it was freezing walking around the estate and I kept looking at the house .... I wanted to go in, but my daughter said you need a reservation and you have to pay ahead of time... So it was already late in the day and I said my next trip I would definitely love to see the inside of the home..... So I visited her in September a few weeks back...made a reservation.. Very very happy I finally got to see the Biltmore estate... The grounds are so beautiful overlooking the mountains.....The home was absolutely amazing and it was so well worth it!!!.. so much history..

    My first visit to the Biltmore was as a child in 1962. Back then, only two floors were open to the public. You parked right in front of the house. I have been back many more times over the years. Great place.

    Yes, several times. I would love to go back. It's a beautiful and historic place. Everything about Biltmore is wonderful. On my next visit, I would love to stay at the Biltmore accommodations. When my daughter was in middle school, we had the opportunity to visit Biltmore during the Christmas season as her church youth choir was invited to perform in the Biltmore house. It was an amazing experience.

    Very interesting! I'm obsessed with Biltmore and go a couple of times per year, every year for 25 years, and I learned a few things I didn't know in this video. I love this home and the story of the family. I love the legacy they children are preserving. Love it, love it! This is such intriguing history.

    This episode was very informative. I've been about 70 times starting when I was 7. A point that wasn't discussed was the negative reaction many historical house museums had to the commercialization the Cecil's promoted. The efforts were proven right and now are copied at many historical houses. Good job Cecils.

    My husband insisted we visit the Biltmore. I couldn’t imagine it was a good idea to spend so much and care for four children. But he didn’t insist on many things and agreed to my rule for stopping every two to three for the kids to get out and expend energy.
    When I think about the Biltmore I still feel my jaw drop. I still remember details that had me in awe. Of the many antiques and leather wall-paper, three large fireplaces along one wall of the dining room. Not average fireplace width but I’m guessing each more like six feet wide.
    The thing that most impressed me was the large pocket doors for drying bed linens. It wasn’t the only part of the laundry.

    Biltmore in the Spring is a wonderful time to go. As you drive a few miles to the House, I noticed the Dogwood trees, the Azalia bushes and flowers are in bloom. It is beautiful! Mr. Olmstead did a wonderful job with the landscaping. I am sure his patterns have been replaced exactly how he had them planted. It is indeed an American treasure.

    Biltmore is one of the most incredible places to visit and I’ve seen some of the grandest in the world. Many of the guided mansions burned and lost to history, tapestries and craftsmanship unlike anything elsewhere. The remaining pieces of this time must be protected to inspire the minds of future generations.

    I've been to four of the Vanderbilt homes, two in Newport, one near Hyde Park on the Hudson River, and the Biltmore. All of them were ostentatious monuments to unimaginable wealth. But Biltmore is the only one I really thought could actually be a home. And the surrounding countryside looks like it could have doubled for some fantasy world of elves and hobbits.

    I hope I'm not wrong about the last Vanderbilt's heirs. The Biltmore definitely belonged to the daughter of the direct George Vanderblilt but married twice to an English then Cecil. The sons nowadays have no connection or DNA with Vanderbilt as they were born from a different father. I hope I'm not confused.
    However, I'm glad they preserve and restore the history and the family largest estate to open to public. Too bad this is the last Vanderbilts legacy that stands. I wish they had preserve the others that spread out on the east coast. There's no such architect and artistic handcraft left in the U.S.

    • @sdaisy1001
      @sdaisy1001 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You are confused - John Cecil was Cornelia’s first husband and the father of her two sons. After their divorce she left Biltmore and never returned. She married two more times and is buried in England. Her sone, George and William are direct descendants of George Vanderbilt.

    • @angelalien157
      @angelalien157 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sdaisy1001 Thx for clarifying the many descendants. I wish the Vanderbilts keep their mansions. Cottages like castles to run B&B, hotels, museums or anything, better than being demolished. So much gold inside, elegant artwork, craftmanship that we can't find in the U.S. these days. So sad....that's America, who has no taste of classic architecture. In Europe, it's not allowed to remodel the exterior, even if they have to upgrade the interior.
