You don’t realise how good his acting as Father Jack was until you hear him talking normally
A very charming man. I only clicked on the video out of curiosity to hear the real voice of Father Jack, but his speaking and mannerisms drew me right in. A class act all the way.
Watching this it would have been impossible to type caste him, a totally different person and the sign of a talented actor, so underestimated. RIP Frank Kelly and long live Father Jack.
If U were going by his character as Fr Jack, U defo wouldn't have recognised him in Emmerdale either...
"In person he could not be further from Father Jack. Urbane, articulate, thoughtful, fit (he swims and hikes), charming company, full of stories, and quite serious, though his conversation is punctuated by the occasional burst of laughter-he is reputably a great slagger with colleagues, and is very well liked."
me too
He had done a lot before Father Ted
Mad how well spoken and nice he was compared to his character. Shows how much of a great actor he was.
Here in Italy we love Frank Kelly(and father Ted, blessed him RIP) as we love Ireland...so beautiful.
He is the polar opposite of Father Jack. Intelligent, eloquent, and really charismatic. What a great actor and a great man he was. A real treasure.
This video appears to be an ecumenical matter
Yes!

Now girls, Father Jack has very kindly offered to take you all for volleyball practice....and he's reminded me it's very hot outside so there'll be no need for your tracksuit tops.
GIRLS!
He’s completely right about kids loving him, he was always my favourite and as a young chap I went to see a childrens play in the gaiety theatre I’m which he starred .. I couldn’t contain myself and boldly shouted out DRINK! during a pause while he was on stage and he turned towards us for a second and shouted back drink and had a good chuckle about it.. completely made my day. Gent.
Frank kelly was in the origional italian job as the prison warder who told charlie crocker to keep your voice down your not out yet!!it was filmed in a closed irish prison.not a lot of people know that.
That' a great fact to know; thanks for sharing
was it kilmanam goal
I loved Fr Ted.. Jack was definitely a character & what a lovely man he is..
I also remember him when he was in Emmerdale..
Oh really? Wow
I bloody well didn't! Excellent!
Frank kelly had the sort of voice you'd want to hear from an audiobook
This is how I like to imagine Super Eyepatch Wolf will sound in thirty years.
It really is pleasant.
A charming, endearing man so far from his father jack character, his 12 days of Christmas is my favourite Xmas song, and his Michael Caine impression is spot on👏🏻 so sorely missed, RIP Frank 💚🇮🇪
This man is so well spoken and lovely but yet all I can think of when I see him is "A pair of feckin' womens knickers!" 😂😂
Awwww absolutely love Frank Kelly! Such a wonderful gentleman, never be forgot ! RIP Frank xx
It's so weird to hear him talk normally.
Loved ❤ Father Ted.
Hilarious. 😂🤣📺
Absolutely amazing character and such a huge loss. I remember his work going back to the early 1970s and he is absolutely priceless, it's wonderful to see this interview, thank you so much for sharing
The only celebrity I ever genuinely felt sad when I heard he died.
Censoring father Jack's appearance?! What? Why?
I was about to comment the same. I don't understand why they'd do that.
Frank Kelly did much more thank Fr Ted, very funny man.
I'm a happy camper.
What a class act. RIP.
I can barely reconcile this cultured, genial man with the lunatic he played on Father Ted. Unbelievable that it's the same person.
That’s acting haha
Frank Kelly was good at his job.
Acting
So this is frank Kelly if he is not in his character of Jack Hackett
FECKIN WATER!!!
Who would have thought that Frank Kelly was a kind soul who portrayed a comically vile priest in Father Ted.
Bravo, Frank. 👏
Frank and Dermot were just legends! Gone but never ever forgotten. 💚🤍🧡
Terrible interviewer
*DRINK!*
0:50 nice blurry photo right there...
Oh how I wished I knew more about Frank Kelly the man/actor - I just love Father Jacks character when father ted finally gets him to say "that would be an ecumenical matter" 🤣
Intelligent comedian, has a law degree.
Wow
Nice interview. Why is the video edited?
Esther McVey before she became a rabid Tory M.P.
I remember him in a childrens tv show on Irish tv in the 70s/early 80s called Wanderly Wagon where he played a mad German scientist.
I thought it was Brendan O'Carroll as I scrolled past
Women s knickers!!
He might have been mellow here, but I still wouldn't gt in a boxing ring with him.👈😳😉
My goodness! I decided to check this out after re-watching Father Ted. To think Father Jack is so intelligent and well spoken underneath! Lol.
So weird I used to go round the playground doing impressions of Father Jack when I was like 8 years old. A lot of small children did like him coz he said one word and made it funny, I think children say repetitive words. We must see a child like quality in Father Jack.
I remember them days when Channel 5 was known as 'The Snow Channel' round these parts. RIP Frank Kelly, you were fucking brilliant and unrecognizable as Father Jack
Well, that would be an ecumenical matter.
Fek Drink
Why are they all dressed as Michael Portillo?
It'd the 90s
9 years between his 2 children? What is he, a protestant?
Drink!!!!
Loved Father Ted but mostly Jack haha
0:47 why blurred out?

Frank Kelly is great but I did not like him as father Jack....
What a gent.

That's father Jack? He's way too sophisticated. Make up did a good job.
Sounds like he was a lovely chap! RIP.
DRINK!
I have never seen Father Jack, out of character. He is so charming and my brain is so at odds!! Ha. Ha. Now I can really see how talented he is bringing Father Jack to life in "Father Ted" show ♥️♥️👍👍
DRINK!!!!
Thanks for posting.
FRANK STATES THAT '''WE ARE GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER 8, 'FATHER TEDS''----YET THIS INTERVIEW IS DATED 1997, AND DERMOT DIED IN 1996 ? WASN'T IT?
