    This is easily one of my favorite easy card tricks for beginners! The secret is almost as satisfying as the effect. I love the fact that you never have to touch the deck!
    If the spectator stops cutting before they reach one of your key cards, just encourage them to keep cutting the cards, as the cards need to be more mixed! It can actually get quite funny, just lean into it. It's all in the presentation!

    Good stuff. I experimented with picking from the stack and realized that if they do, you just need to subtract one from whatever card turns up during the face up cuts. So if you see the JD for example, their card is at 10 as opposed to 11. You have to do the spread so it’s obvious where the bottom 13 cards are. That’s not too hard to do.
    I like the idea with the marked deck. Anything with a marked deck where you just name the card is too obvious; there’s always some PITA in the crowd that will shout out that the deck is marked.
    Penguin has a great video about all of their marked decks. I’m assuming the one you’re using is a reader deck where you can see it from like 10 miles away but the audience can’t tell.

    Couple of questions--Do you ask to see the spectator's chosen card? Also should you ask to see them cut the deck when they do it face up for the diamond-spotting part? Great video, just trying to understand it better!

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! Nope you don’t need to ask the spectators chosen card, it’s definitely stronger if you don’t know the card. You start by having them cut the cards facedown, then ask them to turn the deck face up so they can see that everytime they cut, it’s changing and shuffling the cards. You got this!

    Great and effective trick, thanks for the explanation! :)
    Just a little suggestion, after the initial ribbon spread, you can move your finger starting from the stacked side and after the 13th you can say "Tell me where to stop" while still moving, so you can avoid the spectator selecting a card from the stack.

    Do you need the joker in the deck?

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There’s no need to remove the jokers, though I usually never have them in the deck as a rule.

    The Pro version is cool but how do we mark it and know the sequence of the mark cards 🤗

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can get the marked cards from penguin, the set up is exactly the same as the other version, it’s just that you will be able to read the sequence from the back of the cards instead of the face

    Why would you need a setup if you shuffled the cards before doing the trick? Wouldn't that mess up the setup of 13 cards?

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Jason, I do explain in the video how to shuffle without disturbing the set up.

    when you cut facing up, what happens if none of the sequenced diamonds appear?

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question. I’ve never had that happen. Chances are 1 in 13 so very likely that they will cut to one ☝️

  • @jasonirelan-ig5fl
    @jasonirelan-ig5fl หลายเดือนก่อน

    One magician did a trick for me today, and I picked 2.98, and he said come on so I picked two, and he told me to add seven to it and turned a jumbo playing card over and showed a nine. I suspect he forced the nine on me, but I can't prove that because I didn't think of it at the time I was in the store, but 2.98 would've worked.

    If you are using marked cards, why even bother with the set up? When they choose their card, you already know what it is. Have them lose the card in the deck and read their mind. Or you can pick up the deck and look for their card and count in your head where it is from the top. This way they can examine the deck after the trick and you can do it again.Just another variation. ☺

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, that’s a great trick within itself & a complete different effect within its own right. I just saw the opportunity to use cards with this effect and really like how fair it makes the trick. Thanks for the idea!

    • @MattMcGurk
      @MattMcGurk  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also I like the fact that with this version, you never have to touch the deck. To me, that really enhances the impossibility of this.

    • @francisvandenheede7710
      @francisvandenheede7710 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you never want touch the deck- that’s the premisse-, you can use the combination of marked cards and a memorized deck. By turning over the deck, the spectator will never discover any deckorder (unless she knows a specific memorized deck). AND you can literally count between 1 and 52 cards.

    • @MattMcGurk
