I'm so sorry to hear the lose of your mum. I know exactly what your going through as I lost my mum. But its great to see you back again. Your not the only one that lacks in confidence. I do aswel when I'm out on my bike. Your confidence will come back. Love watching your videos. ❤

Hey Gordy. So sorry to hear about the passing of your mum. Great to see a video from you.
As a side note, I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism again. I noticed that you mentioned a lot during the video about struggling with some of the features on the trail, mentioning you weren't comfortable with them. One thing that I would suggest as from experience when helping my dad when he got back into riding, as he is in his early fifties too.
Is to take it a little slower and ride slightly easier trails, things like green or blue trails just to regain confidence, a lot of them have smaller features that are more easily rideable compared to some that you are riding That way you can work yourself up to bigger stuff and also have a bit more fun which is something that is lacking in your videos at the moment. And without a bit of fun, as I have found, it isn't as enjoyable.
I know that there is a comment mentioning about pushing your comfort levels however with still riding a new bike to you and getting used to the way it rides, it might be worth holding off on pushing too much for now. You are still new to 29 inch wheels and as you will have found, they are a lot better when it comes to rolling over features however they sometimes are not as manoeuvrable due to their size.
    Hope this helps,
P.s: My dad made the change to 29" last year and had to adjust to the difference, and personally I went from 29" down to 27.5". Therefore we both completely understand what you may be going through with the struggles of the wheel size.

I would shorten the Handlebar ,it will make the bike steering more responsive and you won't catch as many trees . I did this and its transformed my scout for me
I cut my bar to 730 mm the stock 800mm is too wide for normal riders like us

i think its more about being comfortable on the bike first before getting into the steep stuff. looking at your bars, they seem quite far rolled forward in the video and your brakes are pointed quite far down, which means your having to stretch further towards the front of the bike to maintain a grip on the levers, not being able to position yourself comforably behind the BB and pushing your weight over the front of the bike.
you might wanna watch this video about cockpit position and how it can effect your riding. will give you a better setup, and more control in a comfortable position 😀

Shift you body weight above the rear wheel and keep your speed up. If you leave me we could meet up, I don't drive but I'm still willing to meet you and show how to handle it a bit more, I'm no expert but I'm semi decent, you need to look ahead rather than the front wheel, keep the speed going and you'll roll over alot smoother.

It seems to me that a gravel bike is more suited to your riding and skills

For me, just sessioning power line/article 50/ 4into1 is what’s needed to build confidence.
