    I have these inserts (as does my wife), and they rock! SVED is a great company to work with, super accommodating, and very prompt. We couldn't be happier with this set up.

    Great review. I have Smith Ruckus with multiple lens options depending on light conditions...The SVED seems better than the ODS 4Rx Adapter that has steel that could be a problem in a major crash MTB... Thank you so much for the reviewing SVED

    Well well, I ordered some of these last week and now YT seems to know.... 😂 Thanks for some confirmation that Ive done a good thing. Its amazed me for years that all these big name glasses manufacturers seemed to ignore the prescription sports niche. Looking forward to my Sutro upgrade one they arrive 🎉

      they dont ignore there are much better options then in the video, rudy do loads of options much better then an insert, they have optical doc on rydon slims, rudy project

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @diorocks5858 disagree. Looked at Rudy Project options and found them to have the same limitations as other prescription sunglasses for mountain biking. The Rydon Slim model you mentioned are ugly and don’t offer the same full coverage as something like a Sutro for mountain biking. From what I could tell, the Rudy Project frames still mostly rely on inserts, but it’s proprietary to their frames. That’s a negative in my opinion, while SVED makes options for various makes and models.

    • @diorocks5858
      @diorocks5858 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@letsgoridebikes no you dont need insert you can use the optical doc. Best alternative to Rudy is Julbo

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Still only a few options that accept RX lenses, and most of them are ugly and aren’t an ideal shape for mountain biking. Too much of a compromise.

    Thank you so much, I'm in the process of building my next bike, and before the spring I wanted to sort out my glasses situation. Currently, I just wear lightly tinted sunglasses that have a XL lens it's okay but through chunk, I constantly need to push them up. I love the look of the sutro's but they didn't have a prescription option. So thankfully I came across your video/review are the lenses your running the trail-specific ones?

    Great video! 2 questions:
    What happens with vibration? Do they touch the Oakley lense?
    And what happens when the rubber of the nose piece breaks?
    Thank you!

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With vibration, the prescription lens is pushed against the Oakley lens when your nose applies pressure to the nose piece. I haven’t noticed any rattle or vibration while riding.
      I suppose if the rubber nose piece breaks, or wears out, you’d likely have to replace the whole insert.

    Do the lenses seem to be a decent distance from your eyes? I worried they'd be way closer to my eyes than usual.
    Anyway glad you posted this, there is so little out there and most advice is to wear contacts, which I can't do. Feeling more optimistic now lol

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They don’t seem any closer than my regular glasses, I have long eyelashes too, so it’s pretty normal for mine to touch a little. It has never been something that’s bothered me though.

    The RX seems to be kinda floppy. Do they tap against the inside of the glasses while you’re riding (especially in chunk)???

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are not floppy once you put them on. The nose piece keeps them firmly in place. I live and ride in a zone full of chunk and have never had an issue.

    Is it worth getting anti glare since the lenses are inside actual sunglasses?

    • @letsgoridebikes

      No, I don’t think so. I mean, maybe if your sunglasses lenses didn’t have any type of polarization or similar technology.

    Hey, do you still have these? Do you still recommend and can these inserts go in just about any sunglass that’s meant for mountain biking or is it only specific for that Oakley frame? Thx

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I still have them and love them! Go to the SVED website and you will see which glasses they make these for, there are lots! In some cases you may need to send in the nose piece that came with your frames to be modified to accept the lenses.

    • @letsgoridebikes

    Any updates ? Have you noticed any issues? Does it give you a fish bowl affect? What would you estimate the savings over just getting Oakley prescription from them directly?

    • @letsgoridebikes
      @letsgoridebikes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So far no major issues and I love them. I’ve had several crashes and they have proven to be quite durable. I haven’t noticed any fishbowl effect, it’s been no different than any other pair of glasses I wear. It saved over $300 CAD compared to getting RX frames and lenses from Oakley, which they don’t sell direct to consumers (at least not in Canada), have to buy them through the optical store

      @@letsgoridebikes Thanks for the info. One thing for your viewers to keep in mind: with an insert you are looking through 4 surfaces, instead of 2. So if there's dirt or fog or even overhead light coming down between the lenses, you will see that. I just put prescription sun lenses (polarized and with gradient) in a good pair of sunglasses that rise above the brow and it works much better. Super clear, lighter, no internal frame to obstruct view, and you can have the bottom of the lense boosted to +1 diopter, so that it is easy to see the computer. Price was $420 for just the lense, but I already had a sunglass frame ($50).
