MY HONEST OPINION OF RED BULL HARDLINE TASMANIA

- Red Bull Hardline Tasmania is insane. I don't race downhill, this isn't my MTB discipline, I'm a fish out of water and this course is the hardest thing I've ever ridden! Watch me hit the jumps and features for the first time, with raw POV shots and a review of the track as a whole from a Slopestyle rider hitting the full race for the first time!! Scary
- บันเทิง
Seeing a pro rider losing a pro downhill rider after a few turns shows you how good those guys really are. It's insane to see them riding in real life
Their corering speed is utter madness. This really shows where you win a downhill race.
This video really puts into perspective how fast the DH boys are. unreal!
the middle section of this track is ridiculously fast, and Matty hadnt even track walked it. but yes, even with a day of practice, he would struggle to keep up.
Best of the best
😂
Matt I think you should start naming these guys you're racing with. They're incredible talents and deserve the exposure. Someone like myself wouldn't know who they are by name (but would like to!)
Yep
100%
I also think he should do that , but you can see the name of the riders on the list of riders selected to ride hardline Tasmania
Would be nice yeah, but i think Ben is doing the edit of those Videos an he also has No clue who they are.
Agreed. It took a couple of years of asking Wynn to do it at the races, and he finally did.
First DH podium with jet lag we reckon...
Hopefully
🤣🤣🤣 dreaming.. Matt’s useless at this stuff .. I still don’t know why you keep sending him , keep him at his dirt jumps .. I can see him not walking on his own 2 feet off Tasmania
He’s there because he’s a sick mf, too negative you man !
@benmacrae4784 Bit harsh mate
@@benmacrae4784 Sheesh bro
The fact that Matt hit the drop at 13:13 with no track walk really does show how skilled he is as a rider, on Bernards video the boys were building up the courage and trying to work out the right speed for a while on that feature before sending it.
It is impressive, but also them lot spending that time working out the speed is the reason Matt was able to send it straight off.
@@zingrockBut he didn't know the speed, he has seen it maybe on videos, but not in real life
I think it's a mixture of being absolutely talented, crazy and a little bit dumb. No one should hit a feature like this without seeing it, the consequences are just too high.
i don't think he knew what it was until it was too late haha. he said it was bigger than he expected
Dude, coming a day late to this and riding it like this is absolutely savage. Good job & thanks for the honest commentating.
I was thinking the same.
We all know matt is a hell of a mountainbiker, but it is crazy to see the difference between him an the pro racers on a course like this
The difference I saw was that (in an effort to catch-up) he worked his way through those obstacles faster than everyone else.
@@pittdog231 Genuinely, he deserves so much respect. Couldn't believe he hit the gigantic cliff drop blind
the difference is he didnt walk the track
@@pittdog231 Definitily. He seems very confident with those big obstacles. Maybe sometime we will even see im in Rampage in a year or two.
Maybe also taken advantage out of every one else riding it already.
@@lachyt5247
I got so scared. Thought he just didnt see it coming up 😅
This may have been the best video I’ve watched in a long time of MTB. Matt I know how skilled and talented you are on a Bike, to see you reacting to these features as you did in this video was very humbling! Downhill is truly no joke!! Love ya brother!
This was easily one of your most entertaining videos ever. Brought back memories of you doing the enduro world stage thingy a loooong time ago. Just seems so authentintic when you are pushed out of your comfort zone and you still give it your all. Soo good, can't wait for more!
first video of his I've watched and I couldn't look away. Especially for that drop at 13.15. I've watched a lot of the other channels and the other pros spent AGES working that one out - my heart was in my mouth. And he just did it blind. Oof.
Thanks Matt for taking the time to chat to my son Kaiden, take a photo and sign his hat. You're his idol (he even rides a Marin because you do) so those few seconds made his whole weekend. Goodluck today in the main race. Legend!
@matt jones
How riders remember every single bit of the track is beyond me
Racers have a special place in their brain for that.
@@douwe3300yeah probably 'overwrite' a lot of memory space that 'normal' folk use for remembering everyday things that the pros struggle with
nah try playing trackmania or any racing game and you'll realize knowing a map track layout or even map layout in fps games isn't too hard. It's not about knowing the entire layout all at once but knowing what comes next after what you just did
its the same as musicians remembering a full catalogue of songs to play. When you're passionate about something, it does it by itself.
Watch Bernard Kerr. He walks the course and rides it in stages. Makes mental notes of all the features and records on go pro too. Then watches it back. Not any amazing talent for memory. He does this at most of his dh races. Matt had a big disadvantage not walking the course the day before with all the other riders.
mad respect for hitting those features blind! That drop through the trees had me trippin!
Right? Like obvious bike skills to hit blind jumps and still not die! Matt’s such a rad guy 👍🏻
i screamed 😭
Think this is one of Matt's best videos, huge respect he's so far out of his comfort zone and yet still pushing it
WOW This really puts hard line into perspective massive kudos riding insane features mostly blind and the honesty showing the self doubt and fear. Your killing it!!!
Matt is such a humble guy, never brags about his abilities and says when he's out of his comfort zone. 👍🏻
Happy days! Dark feat to hardline. What a life mr jones.
We’re so stoked to have you in Tassie Matt Jones!!!! So sick!
Best vlog you've ever done imo Matt. So great to see even pro riders have to overcome things still.
Matt, you need some serious sprint training or something.... maybe ask BK to train you in a collab video, get ya brother involved too, do a season of UK downhilling or something... learn a bit more of the racing side, which can only benefit you on the trails/jumps!!!
It would make for some great content between you all too and massively highlight the UK downhill race scene!?!?!?!?
🙏
Great shout, this would be good content and it would be hilarious too. Jonno is always a laugh and BK is a beast.
heck yeah. I would like to see that.
Add in Ed Masters commentary for the total comedy package!
And @RobWarner ❤️🎤🙏
@@darksmoka1 total mega awesome commentary package!
This is the first video i've seen where you seem worried about the track as you havent done a track walk, but the way you attacked the drop in on the road gap said a lot about the fact you know you're better than you know! Keep it up matt! This shit is SICK
I love this video so much! I appreciate the raw unfiltered commentary. Ton of respect watching this and as a novice I can relate to this video more than your others. Thanks for sharing Matt!
Hi Matt I met you at Hardline on saturday and I just wanted to say thanks for coming over and shaking my hand it really was a dream come true to meet you
Watching you hit some of those blind had me thinking “WTF MAN?!?”
good on you for smashing it!
One of your best videos mate. Shows the reality and complexity of the sport. Amazes me how certain features trigger different mental approaches. Thanks!!
Love this, Matt. It really brings a human element to this, where a rider like you is happy to show the struggle and work that goes into becoming these racers, who now make hardline look easy on TH-cam. You gave me some real heart in mouth moments watching this and I had a really sense of the difficulty of this race!
Super impressive seeing you work out the track on the fly at one of the most savage events of the year!
Love these kind of videos, getting to see the build up, learnings etc. The course looks insane!
Get it Matt! 🤘
Matt, I want to let you know I feel how you were feeling trying to get a feel for the trail. I am not a pro rider by any means, and I have felt that same feeling following my friends down gnarly tracks. I have done some bigish jumps (my biggest was probably 35-40 feet), so I know I can do stuff like that. But when I try to follow a friend down new trails, I end up getting so frustrated that I have no problem hitting big jumps, but when trying to hit small drops or blind features, I trip myself up every time. It's something I need to work on a lot, and I could tell you felt similar trying to send it on Hardline. You are an insane rider Matt, and I love all of your videos. It seems all mountain bikers have moments like this no matter the skill level, so you're doing absolutely insane. Keep sending it!
Mate! You are hitting features by yourself with no track walk, which the others had days to ages calculate their lines and speed. You are smashing it! Looking forward to watching seeding in a few hours✌️
This is the most relatable video from a pro slopestyle/freerider that I have ever seen ! You portrayed all the emotions that every Mountain Biker goes through before hitting a gnarly trail or line, with the exception that you're doing this on a Redbull Hardline Course. Mad Respect !
I watch a lot of people’s mountain bike videos… but yours are just better. They hold your attention better and the editing is just better. Also the brotherhood between you 3 always brings a smile to my face. Just hanging with the boys ! At the end of the day keep up the good work your channel is awesome !
Full props to you Matt. Downhill is really different to anything else. And to do it on a hardline track is insane. It's great to see a trick ferret hitting everything the speed ferrets do.
I've not seen this channel before but i now love this man. Hitting absolute death jumps like a boss.
I will forever love your content for bringing the “humane” side to all of it. Like you’re getting tired, not hitting everything first try, being afraid and so on (also bringing up how really fearless you have to be to COMPETE at Hardline - not even DH cup-level fearless)
man, I bet its hard to show up to a race like this with the best riders in the world, I bet you feel way out of your league. But I want to say that it is so cool and inspiring to see you expanding your horizons to stuff like darkfest, and now hardline. Matt, you are a diferent species of biker and I have so much respect for you for doing this. You have always been a great inspiration, and I love watching you videos! Keep going, what your doing is amazing!
Well done Matthew!! That top section looked insane, I never made it that far walking up. Thanks for taking the time with your your fans today!
Quite refreshing vid to watch listening to you in your own head, becoming frustrated and overcoming it as it comes, Iv often had similar conversations in my own head when following faster guys
Fair play man, hitting some of that without a track walk looked bloody mental, even at high skill levels, couldnt stop watching, good luck linking it all up!
Mate you’re nuts 😂 You’re on the toughest DH course in the world, making it sound hard and scary but at the same time just hitting it and making it work. Really cool to watch/listen to and the POV’s of the DH guys just off in the distance is madddd!
So impressive Matt! I think some people will see this and think you were maybe sandbagging at the beginning but its amazing to see how you handled yourself so far out of your comfort zone! I had a few heart in mouth moments, just watching! Especially when you took a blind leap off of the drop into the big corner before the double in the woods!
Mad props to you Matt on this Vid, the honesty and realness was legit! Also, the rider who was willing to stick with you and gave you a tow was legit as well!
So gnarly. Great perspective into what it really takes! Good job Matt!
Yes Matt 🤙 so stoked you and your family are in Australia
Riders honesty at its finest. Brilliant VLOG Matt.
I'm so hyped to watch hardline on saturday! I've never watched it live, just been watching your content on the OG hardline. Good luck! Best wishes from Norway!
That be some Hella time difference mate but respect🤙
This is the stuff I really like to watch. I can relate much more to this experience, and it gives PERSPECTIVE. Mr Jones is amazing and also it's cool to see him working stuff out as he goes here wow.
So good seeing this coming to Australia, these trails are absolutely massive for here! Hope there’s more to come in the future!
I liked this video. Kind of refreshing seeing you struggle. Like you said, not your discipline. But I think it just shows that this trail is next level as one of the best can't just link it in one. Cool to see a different side. Must be humbling!
Fair play mate you looked shattered and you were hitting the world's gnarliest DH track blind! Such a raw video, loved it.
Matt fair play, hitting this without a track walk is insane. Hitting that drop blind at the end of the video deserves serious recognition😂 helluva effort
Fantastic video Matt! Makes it so much more real seeing someone of your skill feel the fear!!
Matt! Did you hit that wooden lip drop @13:14 without even looking at it!!?! Dude! You might feel behind when it comes to the level, but you are no lower down the pecking order! You have mad skills bro to hit that stuff blind is next level lad! Well done! So stoked to see you at this event!
Matt you are an absolute beast for rolling up to that big drop blind and pulling off it
Welcome to Tassie! Huge respect for the race run. Steezy whip over the log and my head. So sick - well done mate
Such a good insight. Nothing conveys the enormity of this track quite like this video. Bravo Matt
This video felt like a deep journey man, nice work dude!
Matt mad respect for sending it like that without track walk, you're a mad lad! 💪
The fact that you’ve hit the features without walking the course wow !! Legend !!
Braver than a Brave thing....very engaging but slightly worrying to even watch, let alone do, drew me in with Matt's non whinging talk through on how he was feeling about riding 'blind' it gave a real feel to riding the course, great video.
Damn good effort dude. Knackered, jet lagged & fully blind, that was a bloody good showing ya put in. 💪🏻
This is a great video Matt! Amazing, thank you!
That was a nutty course. So many huge drops and big hits. You’re doing great so far.
It is absolutely mental to see the course broken down like this. So much respect for you and all of the riders!
Massive kahunas riding so much of that gnarl blind ! Love the honesty and so relatable for us weekend warriors who’d never ride any of that ! Respect
Between darkfest, the backflip supes and this i am so srsly impressed with Matt. We can’t even joke about Jamie “carrying the channel” anymore. Most versatile rider alive? Damn! Def my fav, that’s for sure.
Insane Matt.True perspective. Good to see Jai make an appearance too.
Hats off to you Matt. Hitting some of them sort of jumps blind... wow! Fair play. 👏
What a learning curve dude!! Up most respect!! Brilliant video! 😊
Of all the Hardline videos I have seen so far this is the funniest one watching you ride everything blind. Stay safe out there!
Matt, I could hear the stress in your voice and you had every right to be stressed. This is pretty insane for hitting this stuff first go.
Good luck for the show down
Sick trail, man. Watched from the US and the event slapped live! Great crew all around.
Love the raw honesty Matt.
Your best video in ages, raw and real 👍
this was so relatable, enjoyed every bit of it
Best of luck Matt, you're going to make amazing footage, whatever happens.
💪😎🤞
People were saying the course looked soft after Jackson’s course preview. Matt just put the hard in hardline.
Sooo nice and interesting. Thanks for sharing these honest insights. Almost go time 🤘🏻
That looks nuts, Matt! Sweet riding mate!
Matt this is just the best. Hilarious the whole WTF journey
Matt go for it!!!
I know you master those sections without that missing day!!
Good luck
You tackling challenges or things you find uncomfortable makes for really good content Matt.
Sending that drop blind at 13:15 was nuts 🫣 muchos grandes cojones matthew 🥥🥥
yess matt gotta love all the traveling hardline is gonna be epic!!
Honestly mad just watching you hit this blind loek that! Just so mental. Fair bloody play.
So rad to watch you piece it all together.
The entire first half I was thinking “wait till he sees the top half” haha glad to see you holding it down with the dh dudes
Your firstvl day you smashed it mate, dont be doubtfull any if those riders woukd need to study that track just like you, take it easy break it down to sections and your be flying like the talented rider you are!
Gutted I’m not out there with everyone but the course looks insane and I’m hyped for the race 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Tough gig. Coming in a day late. Watching Bernard's vids of the track walk and first rides shows how much help that is to instilling confidence for the riders. No wonder Matt was struggling.
This describes how I feel about doubles on a blue line :D Hats off to you Matt doing a blinduro on Hardline track
Super stoked to watch this live! Booked the day off to catch the action as it happens
Awesome stuff. The track looks insane.... I hope you have a good time in our beautiful state. Cheers
So far the best video from Hardline! The optics of underdog is so familiar to familiar to me :-)
That was one of the best MTB videos I've ever watched! My @rse was clenching every jump... Chapeau!
Well done Matt!! Bravo 🙌🏻
I felt your anxiety, Matt. I feel the same on every blue and red trail at every bike park I visit when faced with a 1-2 foot drop 😂.
You sent those features, though. Best of luck for the weekend
Incredible riding. Good job Matt
I doff my hat to you. Hitting those things blind 🤯 Mental track and then to do it at race pace!! Enjoy the ride 👊🏼💪🏽
I love seeing a pro rider not just hitting everything blind and taking his time to look at all the features, Makes me feel kinda normal for doing this. Most other youtube bike guys makes it look easy and as if they're just hitting it blind for the first time.
Crazy video.
Crazy track.
Crazy riders.
Crazy crazy.
Thank you for making and for sharing the video.
Best of luck with the riding and with the racing.
Stay smart.....stay aggressive....stay on the bike.
Use a black marker to write your blood type on your arm......just in case.....you case.
Probably one of your best ones yet 👏
