The guy at the beginning said to hold your arms up straight, so in theory, she’s actually holding it correctly, and the guy was the one who was holding it incorrectly cause his arms aren’t straight. Easiest way to hold your arms straight with a big weight above your head is to keep your back straight as well. So her posture is better suited
It puts the weight on the bone instead of muscle too which makes it way easier to sustain. Having carried many a boat over my head I can say it is so much easier with locked arms to hold shit over your head.
I coach gymnastics, I used to explain to my students regarding handstands etc., straighten your arms if you do, then your bones are holding your weight, if they're bent your muscles are... and your muscles get tired before your bones
Furthermore, Australians invest hugely in sport for kids. They stay longer in gymnasts, solid upper mid level
Holding your arms up straight when you're inflexible and a bit bulky around the shoulders is not that easy. Endurance records with relatively low weights are held by relatively lean people.

Also this video doesn't show a woman overpowering a man. It shows a woman with more endurance than a man. The man would easily lift a higher amount of weight. Its nearly impossible for women to get strong because of their hormone levels. Through hard training women can get decently strong legs and pretty good endurance but theyll never be strong in the upperbody unless they take steroids or they are just a genetic anomaly. 225 lb bench press for example would be a HUGE accomplishment for a woman, it takes at least a year of hard and proper training and diet, and probably longer for most. You could take a geneticslly below average weak small male and get his bench press to 225 in a couple months easily

As everyone has said, it's about the form. If the marine guy wasn't overconfident and kept his joints stretched, he would have easily won. After the form, gender would play a bigger role than ethnicity or nationality. A relatively fit filippino man would have beat a norwegian woman if they used the same form.

Very, very likely wasn't about "plan", but lack of mobility. He isn't ABLE to do it properly. The woman has MUCH better mobility. Ever try this? Unless you've trained your shoulder muscles to be flexible, you have to engage both anterior delts and triceps to hold it. The woman didn't have to do that - brava for her. Most women have good mobility here, and most men do not. It's a great leveler.

I noticed that to right off. He got cocky and thought it would be over quickly and used purely strength and she locked the elbows in and relied on straight line bone stiffness.

Omg that reminds me of my year 10 PE class where our teacher challenged us to keep our arm raised for an hour (if more than one of us won he’d pay us each £1 and if only one of us won we’d get £10). After the 20 minute mark it got so easy that he said if any of us talked whilst working we’d be disqualified, all just to teach us how circulation and elevation works😭 (a lot of us lasted the entire hour including myself)!

@@kaje_zu she had a better way to support it than him, she had the arms paralel with her body, making the weight not really on her arms but her feet and the way she had it in the hand, she was just keeping it up with mostly the palm and the fingers to make sure it doesnt move from one side to the other, while he had a grip which is more demanding. even then it would not be easy to do this

need to run? you use different forms or techniques based on the distance. distance runners tend to land on the balls of their feet since using their toes could cause an injury. however, landing on your toes is good for sprinting and short bursts of speed.
you could even consider swimming and strength training. she’s mad smart and won it fair and square.

It’s actually damaging to the scapula and shoulder joint to do that though, so I would not recommend locking out for any exercise.

I only bring it up because the ammo can lift (this is usually done with a 40lb ammo box) is a training exercise that is done almost daily in the military, so it’s not a habit you want to get into when you’re doing this everyday. You are correct though, For this specific contest locking out once to failure probably won’t do too much damage.

@@OneKENDRA35 I believe it varies by country but for the most part no, women have different standards than men for basic military positions unless they opt to join a special operations unit like the SEALS or army special forces. Because many special operations teams see combat multiple times per week they do not relax standards for women who are interested in joining and expect them to be at the same level physically as the men.

And the Australian army doesn’t allow women to be in certain combat roles including Infantry, Cavalry/Armoured etc. So she is probably a medic, cook, analyst, or maybe a desk chick. But I can confirm that marine even if he wasn’t in a combat role, he would beat the Sheila in every tactic and role of combat including shooting, driving, marching, reloading... That’s just biology and the fact she isn’t Infantry or Armoured, combat roles and he is.

@@McCarthy1776 Infantry aren't the toughest of the tough mate. Grunts are pretty shit at everything except spending 2 months in the muddy and feral bush with bombs going off next to their ears. Grunts are resilient. At least in the Australian Army our Cav are often on par with our Infantry in terms of fitness and nearly as good in dismounted combat. Our Army is a Cavalry and Armoured Tank Based force in terms of funding and combat effectiveness. I've seen Arty blokes that are 5 times fitter than your average grunt. Obviously Artillerymen load big shells all day and that would've been best here. Cavalry do dismounted and mounted Operations often alone with no major support over very long distance's, which would help with endurance as well as versatility. And Would be better than grunts at this as well. All marines are trained to be riflemen and he's in the bush and he looks like your average marine grunt, thus he is a probably infantrymen. And he got smashed by a sheila who probably does desk work or support. So marines like to boast on how tough they are all the time. And they get beaten by Aussie Chicks who do desk work. Maybe the marines haven't gone to shit instead they were just shit all along.

EXACTLY. Some dont understand army isn't all about pure brute strength. It needs a good balance and harmony with your body. Smarts, Endurance, Strength, Focus etc etc. She simply used all her skills and he relied on his muscles. No-one told him he couldn't do the same thing she did. The only rule was probably 'lift it up and whoever holds it longer wins'

I don’t know if she locked them, I think she more so used her shoulders as support rather than arm, like how in ballet when we support our arms and elbows to keep them up and not droop we have to do so by engaging our shoulders and back to hold up our arms. I don’t know though

Also this was a competition of endurance so it wasn't about cheating or anything because whoever is the last one standing is the victor. Whether or not her elbows were locked in was never stated to be cheating because no one in the video ever mentioned anything about a rule set.
