I'm currently playing with the Zidoo Z9X 4K and the Dune Solo 4K. I've removed the Zidoo from the system due to two show stopper issues. One, it cannot separate ISO and MKV files even if stored in separate libraries. If you put the same movie in as MKV and ISO, it will confuse the Zidoo. Also, the Zidoo IR remote uses a nonstandard IR frequency and cannot work with most IR extenders. The Dune does not have a graphic user interface for selecting music. To play music, you have to go to the Sources menu and select from folders. It also does not have any means of rapid scrolling such as the vertical alphabet on Plex and Zidoo. Other than this inconvenience, the Dune Solo 4K works pretty well. I plan to get the new HD Max 8K to upgrade mine. I'm wondering about the R_Volution. With the Dune you can only create your own listing for, movies and TV shows, you cannot create one for music. I wonder if the R_Volution can do this. That would be a big plus if it can.
The disc menu is something I really wanted from a NAS as I like those rather than the bog standard NAS one. I wonder if R_volution are the only ones who do this. I admit I am concerned with how low the bitrate it showed "Air Force One" was for the 4K as I would prefer to have the bitrate not be compromised one bit to the disc. I plan on setting up a NAS to avoid the overcompression that Netflix and the rest do when streaming TV and movies, especially 4K. Did you happen to just copy "Air Force One" at a lower size?

Yes it is! If you only plan to use it for plex then its not a good fit - While Plex is a great platform for streaming content, the PlayerOne 8K is designed for a different purpose. It’s meant for users who want the highest quality local media playback, particularly with large 4K or 8K video files that might not stream as smoothly through Plex. The PlayerOne 8K supports a wide range of formats and offers unparalleled image and sound quality, making it ideal for enthusiasts who want to get the most out of their high-end media collections. If you’re looking to manage and play back large, high-quality files directly, the PlayerOne 8K would be a great fit.

The Zidoo Z9X 8K is also a nice device, but the 5K or the earlier mentioned 8K version gives more options, and I like to have options, even if might never use it. I'm looking for a media player, which is the R.Volution, Zidoo 8000 (most likely), or a Dune as a example. These devices are not for streaming or playing your physical disks on. It's more of a add-on if you will. You can rip your existing movie collection, on your PC or other special equipment, put the files on a hard-disk or SSD in a NAS, external drive or media player and you can use these Media player devices to watch those rips on your TV. You could also play other kind of files, then only the rips. Maybe you have certain downloads, or whatever. For normal DVD and BR use I have among others a Panasonic 9000 UHD BR player in the Livingroom. I seldom use it, but If you have a large physical collection, like myself, a disk player is a must. The Pana is expensive, but they also have a cheaper option available. Then we have devices like a Apple TV. You can install streaming apps on it, and you can even buy digital movies that will be added into the cloud. I bought as a example; Furiosa and the new Bad Boys recently. if you don't want a media player, yo could also choose a BR player, with a Apple TV, as a example. You don't have to rip anything. A warning though; with a media player, you can still watch content you have when the internet falls out. With Apple TV or apps on your smart TV, nothing will work if you want to watch a movie then, because you are streaming content over the internet. Just something to think about. Good luck 😉
You can rip them, then create a massive library as full size, full quality, easy access, no need to get up and change discs, all your fingertips, instant access
Devices like the r_volution are designed for people who want more control over their home media experience, especially when it comes to playing content that they've ripped or downloaded. Unlike Apple TV, which primarily streams content from online services like Netflix or Apple TV+, these devices are geared towards local media playback. This means you can store movies, TV shows, and other media files on a hard drive, NAS (Network Attached Storage), or USB, and play them directly on your TV without needing to rely on streaming services. These devices often support a wider range of file formats and codecs, and they can handle high-quality video files like 4K Blu-ray rips with full HDR support and lossless audio, which you might not get from standard streaming services. People typically get their content by purchasing physical media (like Blu-rays) and then using software to 'rip' or copy the content onto their storage devices. This way, they have a digital version of the movie or show they own, with all the quality intact, and they can watch it whenever they want without relying on an internet connection. For those who have large collections of movies or want the best possible quality, these media players offer a level of flexibility and quality that streaming services often can't match. I hope this explains ☺️
@@ZinoNetic AppleTV has several clients to stream content from local storage. Apps like Plex, Infuse, VLC player to name some. And you get a better looking interface en a thread borderrouter for home automation.
@ZinoNetic Thanks for explaining. This might come in handy for me if I decide to download 4K BR Rips again and since I have a very high quality TV now it will look better than the 4k streaming content.
Funny that my reaction on the Apple TV was deleted. Because on the Apple TV there are several apps like Plex, Infuse or VLC Payer that can play content from a NAS. And you have the superior interface too. And say that this is high-end? Why because of the price? By the time 8K tv’s are sold everywhere and there is actually 8K content there will be a new Apple TV available that will perform better than this unit. Don’t get me wrong I like your video about this product but don’t agree with the outcome.

I am not familiar with this product, but i have used (and still do) use a shield in my living room with emby. I have a zidoo player in my theater room and if your playing remux movie files ripped 1:1 off a disc there is a night and day different how the player plays the media VS using a media app and a shield, apple TV, roku etc. There are more features and customizations in the zidoo, for example my theater screen is a 126" 2:40:1 widescreen...my zidoo settings has a 2:40 aspect ratio option that lets me make the UI fit that screen and looks pretty good. I am not limited to 16:9 if I was using plex or emby and get black bars on the side. The poster wall on the zidoo looks massive, especially on a large screen, it's clean and functional. I can scroll through that and see the most amount of movies at one time since I am filling the whole screen. It handles local trailers differently too, most trailers can be in different formats (4:3, 16:9, 2:35). On a 16:9 player like the shield, the trailer will fill the whole screen and put black bars where needed. On the zidoo, it plays the trailer in a fixed window that pops up and looks more pleasing to the eye, it keeps all of the trailers from being too large on the screen with bars, but large enough to see it. When done it pops down. It's kind of a neat trick and makes it cleaner. For my theater I use something geared to playing movies. But in my living room I am happy with the shield and emby on my 16:9 tv.
I will say zidoo will play full iso or bdmv backups and give you a full BR menu with the extras like you put a disc in, or you can just choose to play the main movie from the zidoo dashboard. It's hit or miss sometimes but is a feature that is there and does work.

Nvidia 💯 the best
Picture quality is much better with a Zidoo, Dune or R_volution.
Shield is good for streaming.
@@J.C.P.G still doesnt have an intergrated player that will scrap all meta data mate, also like mentioned the picture quality cant even be compared…
But You'll need a Blu ray 4k player anyway!!!!,
so, what's the point of this device if You have a collection of movies on DVD, BLU RAY, BLU RAY 4K?
What I want is a good Blu ray 4k player and, let's say, the AV Denon AVC-X 3800
You rip them ? 😂😂 thats the whole point mate
Dolby Vision VS10 this engine sucks it doesn't match the image quality of DP-UB9000
I dont agree, even the ub9000 is not even near top list for me - playerone 8k has much better options - But HEY, thats just my opinion…
If this is just a player and not a steamer for services such as direct TV. Netflix, sports etc... Never mind
Correct ✅ its for people who want to be in control 😉
I don’t get the point of this device. Where do you get content from? Apple TV does just fine.
I’ll stick with physical media. I don’t have a problem with picking out a title and go from there.
Wow looks good, but the price is super high. Rich man's toy lol
Def high but i love it
Waste of power cables should be shiped to.what ever country town in with 1 that works and 1m 8k cable.waste of space 2m minimum better for the price meh
Ehmm im happy with the extra cables as a backup - i do agree 2m 8k cable would be more convenient.
Ich bevorzuge die onn 4k Streaming Box von Walmart. Kostet 20 Dollar.
Okay 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ not same thing its streaming, this is local content
Don't you have to have a 8k TV to actually use 8k 😂😂😂
@@heirtothethrone000 yes you do - but as more & more devices support it for the future its an extra included. like the PlayStation 5 that was released in 2020 also supports 8k but theres no content for it yet…

Yes, that's correct. There are low-end, mid-range, and high-end market devices-this one is high-end.
This isn't the future. It's a rebranded Zappiti after that company was shut down with copyright suits.
Nvidia Shield pro is the best media Player
@@sansibar169 in 2019 yes, we are in 2024
why spend 900 on this when you can just use plex
