@@nicolarollinson4381 Yes, what looks like just B&W to us has within it the distinctions that can be computer-analyzed to identify the colors of the object when the B&W image was originally produced. That's how colorization of old movies is possible -- they're not assigning the colors by choice but analyzing what they actually were . . .

@@oolongteaforjoyluck17 TZ Twenty Two is a good one. It was apparently inspired by a story from the British anthology film "Dead of Night" which came out a couple of years after WWII. Similar premise is handled differently in the Dead of Night story - both worth seeing.
The spooky nurse in the Twenty Two episode was the beautiful Arlene Martel (billed as Arline Sax at the time). She also appeared in the Outer Limits episode "Demon with a Glass Hand" - acting under trying circumstances when she had just undergone major surgery. Also, she played Spock's fiancee in the Star Trek episode "Amok Time." : )

I have very warm feelings about the series. We had a very difficult time trying to tune in the TV. This would mean climbing on the roof to turn the antenna for the best reception. My mother and sleeping dad would watch those episodes that we were able to tune in. I think we only watched about 10 episodes but to me it was a good feeling to have my parents in the room with me.

This was the absolute high point of the entire series. People couldn't sleep normally for days after watching this episode. People were scared incredibly. I watched the effect on my family and afterward my neighbors. Amazing super effect TV. The entire series was, really Broadway quality productions, the staging, dialog and writing was light years ahead of What was on TV then...or now. Collier Young and John Newman were important Broadway figures according to members of my family who were frequent play goers in the mid to late 50's.

+jo egleton: This leads to a problematic consideration. Let us say that I create the absolutely, positively, categorically funniest joke of ALL time. You're the first person to hear it . . . and you just laugh and laugh and laugh. Unbeknownst to us all, another guy coincidentally creates the very same joke. He tells it to you . . . it's only the SECOND time anyone in the whole wide world has EVER heard it . . . but now you yawn in boredom. Does the guy still get credit for having created a funny joke . . . or not (?)

    • @TheWriterWalker

jo egleton, I enjoyed this episode very much, especially the performance of the villainess (in her coquettish manner, she reminds me of Vivien Leigh)...but I must agree with you. It doesn't fill me with the scares (as, for example, the Nan Adams-hitchiker episode of "The Twilight Zone" has always done to me--lol). Having said that, though, I must admit that the writing, directing and acting of this episode is of excellent quality, I think. I love 1950s sci-fi and suspense, and the quality of these "One Step Beyond" downloads is impeccable.

I thought everybody knew the classic Biblical tale of the Babylonian king seeing "the handwriting on the wall." The king asked all of his seers and wise men in the court to translate what it said, but none of them could. Then Daniel, one of the Israelite captives who had been taken from Jerusalem when it was overrun by the Babylonian empire, stepped forward and said he could read it for the king. Shortly thereafter, the Babylonian empire was overrun by the Persians, who took over the land. As the story goes, somehow a gate to the city was left open over a water way and the Persians just floated right into the city in the dead of night on rafts through the open gate. They had taken control of the palace and killed a number of soldiers before the rest of the Babylonians could even get organized. "Seeing the handwriting on the wall" or "He's not seeing the handwriting on the wall" is an old saying - at least, I grew up hearing it and still use it (70 years old).
