The Nigerian system makes more sense to me. It is similar to the system colonialism left us. In my school days, we started off in Kindergarten, then seven years of primary. We had to take a test at the end of standard seven, and if we passed, we were placed in secondary school for four years. We took another test at the end of form four, and those who passed went on to form five and six for a total of six years in high school. Those who got the highest scores in form six were admitted to universities. Nairobi University admitted very few students. Maybe 3,500 students at most. Others who did well but didnt get a slot at Nairobi University went for second best; the teachers University. Polytechnics came after the teachers...and so forth. Nowadays, they change the education system constantly. We old school folk dont understand the new systems.
To correct her, new system of education is called " competence based curriculum ( CBC) . _ 2yrs in earlychild education (ECD)-6yrs in primary-3yearyears in junior secondary-3years in senior secondary and then partways
A Kenyan but i disagree with her,, in secondary schools no mixed boarding nowadays, this ends like 10 years back.. Talk about day secondary school. That is mixed. About lectures going strike, have heard this from her. Very rare. Is she from Kenya?
In Nigeria anyone can go to University in Kenya You have to be An A + to B student to be accepted to university ,if you score B- you are going to a college (2 years not 4 years university program
The guest wasn't well prepared on this education topic Not so many Kenyans know about the new curriculum. If you don't have a kid in primary school, it will be difficult to keep up with the new school rules.
SarahBee, you goofed o 😢. Nigerian educational system is currently 6-3-3-4, and effectively took off in 1982 (or 1976 thereabout). It is not 6-4-4-4 you mentioned. I'm sure it's a slip of tongue. The former system was 6-5-4 from 5-5-3 and 6-5-3 we got from the colonial era. The 6-3-3-4 means 6 years primary, 3 years junior secondary, 3 years senior secondary, and 4 (minimum) years university. The 3-3 came to be when the old 5 years secondary was split in two. The syllabi of the first two years in the 5 years secondary was stretched to three. That's why the junior secondary became 3 years with certificate. SarahBee, I'm sure you forgot because you passed through the 6-3-3-4 system. 😅
Wow thanks for the info👍 I only know the 6334 system 😀 You're right it was a slip of tongue that's why I corrected it by inserting it on the screen. Thanks for watching
Very rare to find mixed boarding schools most high schools are girls or boys only and we have some small bursary to help pay part of the school fees but for university the fee is highly subsidized with the government giving all students loans and then there's the bursary so if one is lucky you pay nothing in university
Sarah I think its high time you stopped bringing another youtuber to represent Kenya. If you must please ask them about their own experience about the topic.
Issues a bit mixed up. Little attention to detail and can't differentiate a semester and trimester. To be sincere, many facts are misrepresented here. Entry for medicine is actually a B plain mean grade, and a B in four cluster subjects. Because of over application and few slots in colleges only the best are placed.
This 'Kenyans' saying she's lying are just ignorant and young. Mixed boarding schools have been in Kenya for the longest time before there was even boys and girls separate. But the last about 15 yrs the mixed schools have been shifting to the separate (boys/girls only) mode. And theres time's uni strikes would last for long but on and off. She's very accurate.
When did you last here of strike and mention which year people repeated in university? You might be kenyan but naive if you say junior sec start in class 6 then we have a problem anyway viewers this comment given don't necessarily reflects the views of kenyans we purely disassociate with her we regret and apologies on behalf of kenyans
this lady is not very informed..strikes were a norm in the 90s, for many reasons.. many kenyans had to seek education abroad especially to US and UK..kibaki transformed our education systems by expanding universities..

To correct her, new system of education is called " competence based curriculum ( CBC) . _ 2yrs in earlychild education (ECD)-6yrs in primary-3yearyears in junior secondary-3years in senior secondary and then partways
Please, pathways start in senior secondary. We have a long way to go to understand this spidery education system.
The last time Kenyan teachers went on serious strike was when sosion Wilson was leader.of teachers
