I agree with you guys, honestly the very basic problem we're facing as a country is politics, I say this because our government gives various dockets to people who aren't competent in these areas locking out those who are good at their professions, it's all politics then blame games after. There are still very huge gaps in the history we are teaching our people as Kenyans and as Africans KICD Kenya Ministry of Education - Kenya 1. Migration fictional story does not correspond with history and archeology. If humans originated From East then southern Africa,how come migration stories contradict? You see if you teach that everybody migrated to everywhere then it implies that even the invaders migrated to Africa so let's get the story of our home straight. Who between Africans and Europeans landed to America and the Caribbean first? 2. African civilisation, culture and religion before slavery and colonisation. How old were they? How thriving were they and who destroyed them as far as we know our ancestors built evidence to last millenia. 3. Why is the History of Sciences in Africa not taught in Kenyan and African schools ? This is the reason Africans mistakenly think clothes and Technology are European and American, it has to stop! 4. Between 14th century and 19th century we beat European invaders for 400 years and contained them on their ships and several forts of slavery along the coast of Indian ocean and Atlantic ocean until the invention of gatling gun in late 1800s ,that's what enabled them to machine gun their way to African interior. Where's the history of African victories against non-Africans for 400 years? 5. Europeans imported foreign diseases like small pox and weaponised scabies against Maasai oloibon to take their lands because after oloibon died of scabies after receiving scabies infected blanket as a gift from Europeans his two sons fought in Kenya and Tanzania and that's how European came with treaties to take their lands from 1904. Scabies was also used by Catholic religious missionaries to separate kikuyus from their culture and religion. Why was this detailed process of introducing colonisation not taught because we know it was never instant. 6. Fort Jesus and all forts in African coasts were forts of slavery and prisons for African slaves , why do we teach our people as though those forts were a good thing? 7. In all this history of slavery in Africa and colonisation of Africans what do we teach about the role of foreign non-African religions like Christianity and Islam especially Christianity on their critical and major role to slavery and colonisation? 8. Why don't we teach our people that African artefacts of worship, of culture and African heroes,civilisation and education are in European museums upto date? Were they given willingly ? Were they sold to Europeans? Are they being returned? Why do we Africans have to fly to Europe then go to European museums all over Europe to pay Europeans to see our ancestral stuff? 9. What do we teach our people about our own African religion before foreign non-Africans tricked their way into our spirituality? Do we teach that it was great do we teach that's its a good thing ? 10. What do we teach about African superior culture? Do we teach that we had our own kind of democracy? Do we teach that we were communal? Do we teach our women were respected, powerful, had own council of women and did not need to be de-powered by feminism, do we teach our African justice system, our governance, our militaries? What do we teach about our culture? 11. What do we teach about our African education ? African thinks we were not educated before foreigners imported their curriculums, what do we teach our people about trade ,agriculture and nations of Africa in the Pre-colonial times because we were nations not tribes . 12. Africa has had and still has 4 tribes or 4 nations ,the BANTU, CUSHITES NILOTES and BARBERS . What do we teach Africans about the nations of Africa? Because its is very easy to unite these 4 nations. 13. Do you put into consideration the African perspective while creating our educational curriculums? 14. Do we teach our people Kenya's contributions to the community of nations like the role of KDF in peace keeping,the role of kenya police in peace keeping, the role of foreign service academy and academy that trains african countries public service. Kenyans have no idea about the role of kenya in africa ,caricom and the community of nations. We create our educational curriculum now and we have fixed many things like lies that Europeans discovered Mt Kenya for example, we also now teach skills and a bit of our culture. But, why do we have these historical gaps even in our highest institutions of teaching and learning?
The Most unfortunate thing about all this is that ,The Proff Admits just like Sussion Did, that We have thousand of graduates ,and hightschool and Primary student in schools and frm school who went through a curriculum that turned them into book cramming robots who cant survive on thier own with our an employeer.Basicay whole two generations of Robots
We should never have got rid of the first system since independence the British system of 7423 and changed it to 844. 7423 produced more competent students, which was more rigorous. Moi changed it for political expediency. Britain still keeps the 7423 system. Like everything Moi touched he messed up. That's why we have half-baked campus students being churned out with 844.
