  • Anjali Mehta explores the psychological benefits of yoga through her own personal experience as a teenage yoga instructor. She shows the impact yoga can have on calming one's mental state through the simplest of actions: breathing.
Anjali Mehta is a junior at Singapore American School as well as a yoga instructor and yoga therapist. When Anjali started yoga, she was 10 years old. Amidst the extreme expectations for her future, yoga brought her comfort and relaxation; after training to teach at Vyasa Yoga, she started teaching at only 14 years old. She has taught at many places, including the Indian High Commission, Nola Yoga, as a PE teacher for the elementary school at SAS, and even as a trainer for future yoga instructor. Her passion for yoga is boundless, and she plans to continue her involvement for years to come. Other than yoga, Anjali shares a deep passion for clinical psychology which she would like to pursue in the future. She is also a major foodie, writing, reading and is a guitar and badminton player.

very good, I am happy to see now people are understanding the power of yoga & meditation. this works on the concept of " prevention is better than cure" when any one do these regularly then his brain function as well as body functions will work in a better way, there will not be less or no chance of any diseases.

I agree with what she said.
A veryvery ancient form of yoga: "Swara Yoga"- is entirely dedicated to this. I had learned about it 2 years back through a book "The Tantric science of Brain breathing" written by a female Australian sanyasi Swami Muktibodghananda.
That book completely changed my understanding of this deep science called Yoga.

I agree that breath is the basis of meditation. I don’t sit down and meditate for hours at a time but when I practice archery I find the slow methodical steps matched with a breathing exercise (which is a necessary element of any shooting sport) it is a form of meditation for me. Everything falls away and I just focus on that one moment and series of movements

Let me tell you and others Why pranayam connects mind with breath In normal breathing the breath goes in zig zig position like a snake movement ,this zig zag movement of breath keep your mind in disturbed position but Anuloma Viloma pranayam straightens your breath so makes it straight line and mind soul and breath merge together besides every breath you take you inhale 500 ml of air means you inhale 51 ml Prana Shakti but when you do one cycle of Anuloma Viloma one inhales 2300 ml air ,means you inhale 500 ml of prana Shakti
Also after every Surya namaskar posture one need to recite one mantra and there are 12 mantras
I have not seen any one doing in this And all breathing exercises are not Pranayams

You may fall asleep sometimes, however, one should not worry about this. You will not be disturbed, but will awaken refreshed and ready for the Next Yoga Class. Sleep does not happen every times you practice Yoga, however, with sleep or without you will be deliciously relaxed.
