It's exactly the same mate. You just join another cable at the plug base and daisy chain across to more lights and follow the same process. Just need to mark them out and not drill into anything 🤣
Hi, I replaced a blown downlight globe with another, and it didn't work even though it had correct wattage and correct pin type and was the same bulb any reason why it wouldn't work? So I bought the exact same brand globe next time and it worked? could that be something to do with the transformer ?
hi man. i'n just install 1 the same down light with your video showing but after install the light won't turn it off. i don;t know what happening with it now, thanks
My down lights are the plug in type so i just get a new one and swap them. My old house was hard wired like these. When they died i just left them until enough of them burnt out it warranted paying an electrician to come out and replace the dead ones but doing that meant that the next time they go.... They all go..
Electricians and tradies get paid MORE than medical specialists like brain surgeons. Most get cash in hand in Australia too so avoid contributing to society through tax. I certainly can't afford an electrician to come in and replace over 24 standard lights in my place with 24 downlights. It will be exoberant. It cost $450 to replace 5 lights with downlights 6 years ago. Ah, god knows how much a large job will cost nowadays... doubtless over a grand and a half! Ill do it myself thank you, and thanks to your video. Im already on struggle street..
Lol in America, the UK DIY electrical is ok if you know what you're doing. I learned how to wire a plug in the UK because you're expected to know these things. The problem in Australia isn't that people are DIY'ing stuff it's because there is 0 education and your electrical standards cost hundreds of dollars behind a damn paywall. Stop blaming DIYers for a problem that could be solved with better education.
Excellent! I hope now I can replace my old ceiling light with a sensor down light. Thanks so much for the video.
Excellent video! Do you think you can do a video on installing a ceiling fan?
I have a feeling this will be my next one. I have had many requests!
Your videos are great. Perhaps another video on the installation of multiple downlights to the same switch?

@allelectricalau so the daisy chain creates a connection in series? No need to connect in parallel? Haha yes, check before the drill.
@BingOztube no the connections are parallel A-N-E earth join at each light and the end light will only have one cable
Cable in and cable out
What cable do you run from plug base to the next plug base?
Awesome. I feel confident about installing these now.
Fantastic!
Thank you legend 👍

Whens your new videos coming out just?! They are so informative, just for curiosity sake but help so much!!

Thanks for sharing your work. Very interesting and informative. Following you from the Hawkesbury.
Thank you
That's a great presentation. Thanks for that
Glad you enjoyed it!
where is the video for the hard active please
Was your hole drill size larger than the actual Downlight? 90mm Downlight, 92mm drill bit?
92mm hole saw the actual face of the downlight is like 110mm but the cut out required is 90mm
What if we are placing one old light with 4 downlights? How do we do the wiring? Thanks!
you would daisy chain each down light
You selected cool white and said You can always change it later? Maybe we could have a video on how? We would never select cool white
With the new tri-colour downlights there is just a little dip switch on top where you can change the colour temperature

You forgot to use a ziptie on your socket.
Strain relief is very important, poor form not showing that

Just ensure you have a multimeter to test before doing any DIY
Totally agree with you
As a licensed electrician this video is scary… too many home DIY’ers watching these things.. I’m glad I don’t work in residential anymore.

maybe it they didn't charge stupid hourly rates ppl would call a sparky, australia likes to baby it's citizens, it's pathetic
@@mrama5830100%, why pay $1000 to have a sparky get his snotty nosed apprentice to do some basic wiring. So stupid.
Why is it scary ? Its easy as fuck just gotta make sure the power is always off first and you won’t die
Can you elaborate???
Is it must to use surface socket to connect the down light in Australia?
Can I just use wire connector connect the 3 wire ( A,N,E ) to the down light?
You can hardwire if you prefer. Just easier to replace in the future if it just plugs in. And you don't need to be an electrician to change either.
@@allelectricalau Thank you!
