As someone with opinions on watches, it is nearly impossible for content creators not to attract the nasty, snobbish, unsolicited responses of some viewers. I have received a lot of hateful comments myself on my own channel from strangers who couldn't pass up an opportunity to be condescending. My point here is that it just comes with the territory. First time coming across your content. Is your negative experience wholly with TikTok? I have been watching watch content on TH-cam since lockdown and cannot recall seeing many toxic comments - some very subjective but not personally attacking people's personal choices. Not sure if it is better policing by the YT moderators but the comments section on TikTok is often filled with hate and derogatory sentiment and, like you mention, it says more about the commentator than anything else. To quote a friend of mine - f@8k 'em! 😑
You have a bunch of envious people watching these videos that can’t afford these watches and they are bitter. Don’t let it get to you. It’s a reflection of them not you.
Good for you bro buy what you want. Wear would you want it’s your money. Don’t listen to these bozos because half of these fake watch enthusiast don’t even own a luxury watch. They’re fake luxury wannabe cool guys pay attention to these dudes man rock what you want ,rock what you can afford.
Most folks that comment on wristwatch videos, forums, and posts are toxic. I’d know. I’ve been in this community for years. When I owned a Submariner, they said it was fake, or that I should have got something different than what everyone else has. When I bought two Tudor divers, totaling the cost of a Submariner, the trolls said I couldn’t afford a Rolex 😂 You cant win! My antidote is to build relationships with other folks making wristwatches content, because here you’ll find some seasoned, friendly veterans in our community. Some commenters are experienced and cool, too; just not commonplace. Block the trolls; doing so makes it easy to move on. I’ve learned that most commenters are noobs. They don’t have much experience. They’ll watch a few videos on watches and become experts overnight. I’ve been in this hobby for over a decade, and I still learn something new about horology daily. Enjoyed listening to your experience. I’m sorry some aspects of your time in our community has been bad.
I have had a different experience it seems. The watch community has been nothing but welcoming to me. More of a sub genre as I’m repairing watches instead of reviewing. As any niche grows you’ll have insecure and immature people joining it. To some, watches aren’t a flex they are a passion.
What is the price point trying to achieve when buying/owning a watch? At that price point (what ever that dollar value is) their are watches over priced, underpriced and properly priced. This holds true for $100 watches, $1,000 watches and $10,000+ watches. The goal should be to find watches that provide 'more watch' for that price point. Most in the watch community want to learn about watches 'punching above their weight' in their desired price point objective. Anything else is just noise.
You've got to take in count that there are lots of watch snobs out there. What is funny is that they are potential targets for other people also. Because there is an infinite amount of watches and infinite amount of price brackets. Everything is relative as you said.
It’s partly racism, the watch community has a lot of deep racism - go on any luxury watch forum. That attitude trickles down. But then it’s just the internet - people are vile, teenagers etc mainly but grown adults too. Also people tend to stop looking at “content creators” as real people. And I often see that out of pocket comment as the straw that broke the camels back. Person A may hate the moonswatch, but it’s popular and the algorithm keeps showing them that watch, and finally they just snap and have to say something, and it just happened to be on your video. Sad, but social media is a poison and overall horrible thing
First video I have seen and I gotta say I’m a fan of yours already my friend. Sorry you had to experience so much hate. If you’re not on WatchCrunch yet I recommend joining today. The community over there is supper supporting positive people for the most part. I to share the motivation for collectors to be welcomed and treated qual and state it at the end of my videos. Anyways this is about you and I have subscribed and will binge your videos now 😂
Brother, this is youtube.... its a lions den. Gotta get thicker skin and not let it get to you. There are tens of thousands of 14 year olds that just say things to get under your skin. Stop letting them.
I have expensive ones and ultra budget ones but I wear my Armitron's and Timex's mostly. I've never had any snob comments about them in person, and if I did it wouldn't be a good outcome since it's not them wearing what they like it's me wearing what I like. I've gotten to the point of only watching reviews of under $75 watches. Most reviewers start off with ultra budget ones and go to the mid to high cost ones and that's when I stop watching. Tons of people can't afford those and some aren't snobs and like cheap ones. I don't have anything to prove to anyone with what watch I'm wearing. I only have to be happy with myself. Laugh at how cold people can be and be glad you aren't like those people.
Certain Seiko fans are awful people. They don’t want to hear anything negative or any critiques about the brand. It’s weird, but a real phenomenon. Block these people, report these people, you shouldn’t have to put up with these terrible people.
This is extremely common behavior online, you shouldn't expect comradery from strangers. The comments you read were actually pretty funny, but if you can't take it, stay away from comments in general.
Don’t think you watched the full video: 1: yes it’s common, that doesn’t mean I need to be happy with it. 2. Expecting camaraderie is not the same as not wanting racist comments over watch opinions (like…it would be one thing if I received racist comments while openly discussing political / controversial / racial topics, but I don’t) 3. Funny is subjective, being racist or rude for no reason isn’t funny to ME. 4. I don’t think I should be made to stay away from potentially positive feedback just because there are people out there who enjoy seeing people fall. Like I said, I can’t this comment personally because if you watched the video and really listened to what I was saying, I don’t think you would’ve said the above things. Thank you for your time 👍🏾
I promise you, none of these people in the comment section will say this to you in your face. If they do, they will back off immediately once you confront them on their comments.
Not sure they are watching youtube but theres people that can’t afford phones so a $10 watch may make sense. But yes reading comments this does seem to be an aggressive genera. Do what works for you, haters gona hate.
Sadly alot of stupid in the world, same with religion, fotball and other pointless shut. Just keep doing your awsome videos.. I never understand why People needs to be right and argue for why they are and you are wrong and stupid... But like i Said, screw them and keep going 💪
I will tell you why I think u get the hate in my opinion from learning about watches in the watch space for a couple of years. Watch collectors, watch fans, watch reviewers, watch enthusiasts ALL have utter disdain, contempt, and utter hate for Fashion Watches and Fashion watch brands. Because when they were young, fashion watches and fashion brands were the first to seriously rip off, rob, embarrass, and fool them. Most have a family or friend that gives them a fashion watch for their first watch, or most of us buy a fashion watch for our first watch after saving from a summer job or something. But when you get older and you learn about watches you realise how dumb you were to think you were buying something of quality compared to the history of watches and actual good watches that are often cheaper than overpriced fashion brands. Seiko to them is almost a holy name in watch history. So I think your love of fashion watches and promoting them is almost like a Cardinal sin, a deadly sin in the Watch community.
The world is a cruel place. No doubt about that. Still, for a youtuber who makes content using one's personal opinion, you should have a better understanding of personal opinion than others. You can say whatever you want but so can others. It is a right. Lets celebrate it. I recall an old film in which one of the main cast was an African descent. In it, he described how he was frequently subjected to racial attacks but had learned to deal with it from knowing he had a bigger D.
Actually Seiko is arguably among the few (only?) main brand watch manufacturers that has original designs (actually several) that are not only iconic (see tuna, Willard, marine master, skx/5 sports slim case, monsters, samurai, alpinist, king seikos etc…) but also boost superior technical solution (monoblocco case, larger size/legibility with better wearability, L lip sealings etc) to the point that other manufacturer have patent on features that Seiko deems obsolete (see Rolex helium valve). Also, all this at a fraction of a price when compared to a proper Swiss manufacturers.
You should get into the blockchain space. They might actually try to physically harm you for wrong-think. Not exaggerating. Sorry, the watch people suck.
I’ve been researching watches the past few days as I’d like to buy a nice automatic - the watch TH-cam community is just full to the brim of sleek looking videos that are just nonsense, it’s very frustrating!
Yeah, the watch collectors world isn't made for genZ snowflakes :D Bunch of older dudes that have seen more in their lives that you can imagine, they live too long for taking care about your feelings :D Its like you would sit in a bar with old guys sipi'n whiskey, order a appletini and try to have a chat with them about the last LGBT parade - good luck with that one :D
To follow my comment and your example of cameras. It will be like you promoting and liking a Camera made by Ralph Lauren, Adidas, or Nike, and going to promote it to Nikon and Canon clubs. They would laugh you out strongly. Just my opinion.
You need to learn more about watches before judging them. Watches are not like other hobby. History is attached to every iconic one. Before blaming others you should ask yourself these. Know the design inspiration of PRX? Already known Seiko History?
When making content I think you should always ask yourself "what is this contributing to my channel" and unfortunately crying and whining just makes you look sad. EVERY youtuber gets these kinds of comments but the good ones have learned there is no value in acknowledging them nor calling them out publicly. There is only a downside. Good luck to you.
Respectfully, if you think there’s no value in acknowledging problems I don’t think you belong on my page. If problems weren’t acknowledged or called out, they would never be changed or solved.

Keep your head up..
I'm sorry for all of the hate you have received from these keyboard warriors. They are indeed jealous, insecure, pathetic individuals who can't share in the joy of others.
Keep hustling, ignore the haters, and stay blessed.
Thanks! I think because I’ve never seen it before elsewhere, it’s really been a shock to me aha.
Nice video don't let the hate get to you. So many people give the moonswatch crap.... it is what got me back into watches I had been using cellphone for a very long time. Now I am branching out to different watches. But I will forever be grateful I bought that swatch or I would have not gotten back into watches.
Hi Kym, just found this video in my time-line. Really sorry you've been subjected to this ignorance, but please don't be discouraged. I have subscribed, and look forward to reviewing more of your content. Stay strong young man. Respect.
Such a wonderful video. I sub'd. Stay strong bro.
I wish you all the luck! Watches are a journey, just enjoy and buy what you like
Keep chilling my man. Splendid video. Well done.
I hear you, I like to make people feel good about their purchase whatever the choice. Its infectous, but that's apparently not how the World works. Give someone a compliment today, you'll boost their ego for the weekend & its costs nothing! Cheers..
I'm there with you, man. Nobody would say this to your face. Don't pay attention to the haters. Keep doing you.
@@ChristopherBrusa thanks!
Just subscribed on the strength of this video. Best of luck with your channel.
@@megasoid thank you!
You're spot on. Just subscribed. And I personally love my PRX.
Anyways this is about you and I have subscribed and will binge your videos now 😂
@@Skyler.Santana thanks so much for the kind words and the recommendation! 🔥👊🏾
The quality of watch content has fallen dramatically, so much negativity now.
Recently trying to get into watches. Love your account. also from the uk. Subscribed :)
Thanks! If there’s anything you wanna see from me, lemme know! 🔥
Brother, this is youtube.... its a lions den.
Gotta get thicker skin and not let it get to you.
There are tens of thousands of 14 year olds that just say things to get under your skin.
Stop letting them.
Not sure you watched the full video but thanks 👍🏾
@watcheswithkym yup watched the whole video.
Not sure you read what i said with an open mind
Keep pushing man, ignore the ignorance ♥♥♥
Take no notice the watch community r all Rolex snobs keep Ur head up keep going M8
Ops on the mechanical Citizen Forza titanium?
This is extremely common behavior online, you shouldn't expect comradery from strangers. The comments you read were actually pretty funny, but if you can't take it, stay away from comments in general.
Don’t think you watched the full video:
1: yes it’s common, that doesn’t mean I need to be happy with it.
2. Expecting camaraderie is not the same as not wanting racist comments over watch opinions (like…it would be one thing if I received racist comments while openly discussing political / controversial / racial topics, but I don’t)
Thank you for your time 👍🏾
Ignore the haters …. They’re opinion ain’t worth the sweat off your ass
I think it's obvious that the commenters are the ones with the actual issues.
How about we highlight the positive comments.
Hey bud , get you a great diver . Like a Squale and put it on mesh bracelet!
You do you, Bro 👊 I feel you 100%
Bro your awesome keep up the great work
Sadly alot of stupid in the world, same with religion, fotball and other pointless shut. Just keep doing your awsome videos.. I never understand why People needs to be right and argue for why they are and you are wrong and stupid... But like i Said, screw them and keep going 💪
ignore the hate
@@SalPerez-io3mz thanks for the insight! That makes sense.
bros is about to ragequit collecting watches soon 😡
I love your voice. Nice job.
At least you get views hahaha, nobody watches my videos. Keep on rolling and being creative.. F everyone else.
Agree that Seiko copies designs
Sounds frustrating. What kind of watches have peeked your interest so far? I might have something similar in my collection I could do a review on?
Yeah, the watch collectors world isn't made for genZ snowflakes :D Bunch of older dudes that have seen more in their lives that you can imagine, they live too long for taking care about your feelings :D Its like you would sit in a bar with old guys sipi'n whiskey, order a appletini and try to have a chat with them about the last LGBT parade - good luck with that one :D
0:25 Ever heard of Hi-Fi?
To follow my comment and your example of cameras. It will be like you promoting and liking a Camera made by Ralph Lauren, Adidas, or Nike, and going to promote it to Nikon and Canon clubs. They would laugh you out strongly. Just my opinion.
You need to learn more about watches before judging them. Watches are not like other hobby. History is attached to every iconic one. Before blaming others you should ask yourself these. Know the design inspiration of PRX? Already known Seiko History?
@@yelinaung485 ahhh so the hatred and racism is my fault? Gotcha 👍🏾
