Blocking really does make a difference. I had refused to the entire time I was knitting for YEARS, and then I started crochet five months ago and then blocking didn't seem so bad lol
hey wanted to let you know this video is what convinced me to learn how to knit while being left handed. so i can make gwen's cardigan. and after literal months of trying and giving up repeatedly i can happily say I FINALLY KNOW HOW TO KNIT!!
Blocking makes your work feel more finished because the process relaxes and evens your tension throughout the project. When everything is more uniformly distributed, the fabric feels smoother and has more drape/flowiness! Definitely recommend blocking for garments but it’s not so necessary for more decorative items:)

In regards to the cardi, we are our own worst critics. I would never notice the cuffs if it wasn't pointed out to me. It looks amazing, and you look super cute in it and the suit! I thought that was a really nice touch! Another awesome video that I had to smile at!
Seeing how cute the Coraline sweater turned out makes me regret that I couldn't figure out knitting, when I can crochet just fine. I want to figure out how to knit so badly now!
First - you can give yourself and your work 10/10 absolutely no doubt about it Second - I waited until the end to see which one is my favorite and the Cardigan is definitely my favorite! The first sweater is 9,5/10 and the blanket 9/10 but the entire journey is 12/10 thank you!

I never leave comments but I have to say that I have been trying to learn to crochet for years but I have never finished a project because I always find a different hyperfixation. Your first (I think) crochet from film is was inspired to pick up crochet for one last attempt because I wanted to make Coralines gloves. I impulsively also decided to turn her star sweater into a cardigan. I have 4 squares finished which is the furthest I've ever gotten in a project so thank you for the motivation!

im not sure if you've tried it before, but you mentioned the connection of the sleeves to the body (coraline sweater) being a bit bulky. i recommend trying the mattress stitch when connecting them if it's possible for knit projects! it's such a nice, seamless sewing stitch and looks very neat :P

i cannot describe how excited i was when i saw that you have uploaded this lmao. the speed at which you make them is incredible and thank you sso much for telling us the patterns! also, if you used an acrylic yarn for the stars on the coraline sweater, you could have "killed" them instead of blocking. acrylic is very blocking resistant sometimes and killing it with heat might be an only option for the project to keep its shape

fun fact, the coraline sweater in the actual film is hand knitted with teeny tiny needles. The creator is Althea Crome and she also made the gloves too and she makes loads of tiny complex sweaters for art shows
I’ve been watching a lot of edits and a few have been American psycho related so the intro definitely threw me off cuz I wasn’t expecting that xD I had to double check to make sure I clicked on the right video LMAO
If you have trouble finding the correct colour in the correct weight yarn in the future but find the right colour in a lighter weight, you can hold two strands of a lighter weight yarn together to create the weight. Eg 2x dk yarn = Aran or worsted weight yarn
My rule of thumb for selling is the cost of supplies + number of hours it took to make x my labor cost. Depending on the craft my labor cost fluctuates depending on how good i think i am at it. So a newer craft i have not a lot of hours in might be $15 an hour, but a well loved and practiced craft I will charge $20-25 depending on a lot of factors.

I tried but they dont look as neat and I try to look at the pixel crochet on google and count on the peg to switch the colors but yea I just want to see different ways I can do it to make it neat
