    FAQ
    1. This can run anything a PS2 can because it is a PS2 (a physical PS2 motherboard is inside this case).
    2. No matter how powerful your computer or phone is, PS2 emulation cannot compete with actual hardware yet (pcsx2.net/compatibility-list.html).
    3. It has 3 hours of battery life.
    4. It cannot play Wii games because it's a PS2.
    5. A Vita cannot emulate PS2 games.
    6. The price is so high because of how long it takes to produce one of these and how much the components cost to make one (I didn't make this). It also includes shipping in the price. They've sold 600 worldwide so far.
    7. It doesn't have pressure sensitive keys.

      i have to disagree on your #2. Because this portable device is still an emulation...because it uses a boot loader in order to boot games from their iso file. This is the same process that PCSX2 uses. Btw PC can run PS2 games just fine at more than 30 fps, i tried many games like Persona 3/4, MGS 3, etc.... The fact you can't run Final Fantasy with stable fps and drops tells you that the portable machine here lacks actual ps2 hardware, emulators generally drop frames because its not well optimized, which seems to be the case here. PCSX2 minimum requires quad core with decent single core processing, so any modern generation of intel/AMD will do just fine.
      The defragging operation you mention isn't that different than PC emulators, likes PSP emulator. Defragging is basically there to extract the exe boot loader rom file that it needs to boot the game. The only difference here is PCSX2 directly boots from iso file without the need to defrag.
      Also compatibility is largely dependent on the bios you use. PC emulators allows you to select regional bios to run games for different regions. SCPH0001NA, SCPH0001EU, SCPH0001JPN are examples of variety of bios ps emulators run on.

    • @Jah_Coby
      @Jah_Coby 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That.. that's really not why it's difficult to emulate. Consoles get difficult to emulate because they are purpose designed and programmed, and emulation requires trying to work backwards to get the right build that can mimic the hardware and software involved, as these games were set up and coded specifically to function on this device. N64 can still have emulation issues and it's even "simpler" than a PS2

    I love how it was able to fit into a larger PS Vita type body. Very impressive and resourceful use of space here. Come to think of it.. I do wonder if Sony had given it their all, that they could have built a working emulator for PS2 on the Vita. The Vita itself is much more powerful, but the issue is emulation is resource intensive. Though Sony would have known all the ins and outs of actually doing it, if it were possible. It's a shame. Anyone have more insight into if that would be possible from Sony themselves, or is the Vita simply not powerful enough? I've heard a rule of thumb for emulation is something like 50x performance of the original system. Vita is only about 10X, but I assume 50x is needed because devs need to build emulation from the ground up, rather than having insight into the original product like the manufacturer would, if that makes sense..? Am I totally off here?

      @@Kusanagi13 A portable PS2 is not a "diy *k*nock off". It's a mutated PS2. It's also somewhat of a piece of art. A lot of work goes into making these things, too. It's not just some some company going "Yeah let's just shit these things out and throw them on the market because some dumbass will buy them". They're probably not even built until they're ordered. And if they are, they're probably only kept in short supply.
      Also, the PS Vita can't play PS2 games so saying that's a valid replacement for a portable PS2 isn't really a good argument unless you're arguing with someone who just wants a portable device and doesn't care about playing old games that they were fond of in their childhood.
