Prefer site work tools in the van 3.30pm ,job done no looking at jobs working out prices etc, been a bricklayer all my life, from 16 and now i am 62 ,worked overseas as well, worked for the last 2 years now as a bricklaying instructor in a prison😮😅,loved every minute of it.
crime must pay... teaching criminals a trade... probably get out early too, starmer needs to hit his targets.. having a qualification in bricklaying dont get you on site these days, you have to go through a stage of criminal activity to get that privilege... what a f joke.
@IzzytheBricky yes I really do, I love the life of a bricklayer and am very enthusiastic still I think this rubs off on the guys I now work with, we learn the basics well, and eventually for those who want it, we do arch's twisted pillars , bulls eyes ,curved brickwork , battering brickwork using a battering plumb rule and spirit level etc etc, most of the lads love it , will they carry it on when released?? , a couple might, we have opened a door of opportunity
Worked on site as a decorator, also worked for a mate who contracted to local council work, hated every minute of it but did about 3 years, so went back to my own work and ended up working and spraying Formula 1 race trailers, yes wallpapering inside lorries in working areas and debriefing rooms, really enjoyed the technical side of the work and got a few benefits of working for teams in the sport, few freebie tickets and pit passes got issued to me and my mates which was so much better than magnolia paint and council work where skirting boards came with their own carpet stuck to them from the last time they were painted, I was also my own boss again, lot to be said about that because like yourself I took a lot of pride in my work, not having a day off in over 15 years tells you how busy taking pride in your work can be as it sells itself
That's amazing mate! Sounds like you really ended up loving your job! You never know where work will take you! Hope you had a good weekend mate, new video for you tomorrow 😊
Another cracking video Izzy. Thanks for the explanations as you progress. It helps me understand. Just watching on a 55 inch tv which i have repaired, you are looking good
Enjoy your videos izzy but as a fellow bricklayer i need to say when you lay your brick use the tip of your trowel to take the gobbo off going back and fourth all the time is only making your brickwork look messy just some friendly advice
Thanks my mate, ive got a new video on Wednesday on this job... I tried your method..looked better, hopefully you'll notice the difference. P.s. Hope you had a good weekend mate, new video for you tomorrow 😊
I work as a mason in northern germany. I have never been on a site in that sense. Because the people that want the house come to us directly. Same with more industrial things. We are 22 masons and 4 apprentices. 6 People in the office. When someone wants to build a house they come directly to us. No big site with some giant company. Its really nice this way. Same with more industrial work. Concrete etc.
I was honestly also tired of laying as many bricks as possible and as quickly as possible every day. I had lost the passion. That is why I took evening classes as a residential electrical engineer. I have now been working as an electrician for 7 years. This is also a good thing. A lot of variety and you have to think too. That way the hours go by very quickly. But I have a lot of respect for what you do. And I am also much older than you. I am 51 years old. My back has had a hard time in the past on the construction site.
Love the content mate. Never realised you brickies were so into digging each other out. Ignore the muppets. You do what makes you happy. More to life that sucking off the site agent.
@@IzzytheBricky on stone work it’s very good. I haven’t tried it on brickwork as the drill control I’m still getting used to but it definitely brings a different feeling and removes the repetitive hand movements so there is a plus side.
I always said you could train a Gorilla to do site work so bloody boring, and I hated working day after day in mud especially if you were doing footings and trying to keep the water out, extension all day every day.
I don't think it's to do with the worker/work...very much personal preference. If a site is well managed it's a nice place....if its not...it's shit😂 Hope you had a good weekend mate, new video for you tomorrow 😊
Pros and cons to Site and Privates i suppose. I Like the private work as u have no one to answer to and not getting shouted at to put hard hat on or getting pulled pilar to post but i do find Site work the days go alot quicker then Private. Suppose its personal preference

I'm just watching this away, and near the start of this video, there was steam in the background (heating, i assume), thinking you're getting stuck in too well with that smoke comingbofcvyour trowel😂
You’ve been using the insulation to clean off the brickwork , but have you saw the state it’s left the pointing?? Lightly brush the brickwork, that’s all that’s required
I've got so many, but this one is nice...on site it's perfect cos the muck is so light...on here it's hard though! Hope you had a good weekend mate, new video for you tomorrow 😊
You should have someone helping you. You are going 100% backwards doing all your own labor plus you should also be teaching the younger generation of men your considerable skills.
It's funny to hear a guy who couldn't make it on site work criticize it. I mind you used to be humble and what's with all the dramatic muck spreading and smearing the bed

That's a much better set up than the UK
Any bricklayer who's worked in Germany will confirm that like the roads building sites are better set up

Unfortunately alot of trowels have to work on sites to pay the bills and if we all jumped on private work you wouldn't have none 😂
They don't have to, it's just the only place where they will find work.
