This reminds me of when I was kid how my parents despite being from other countries they tried their best to adapt to North American culture in every way. My asian dad used to try and teach me how to play hockey and baseball and introduced me to things like corn dogs and spam (we were poor growing up) and my mom used to make Candy apples and used to use maple syrup on every dessert we had.

We pull our bq to the patio door in the winter and dig it out after every snow fall. Where I live in Ontario, we loose electricity frequently due to storms, so the bq is pretty handy.
