I'm so glad you like Toy Polloi. He's awesome. I've been watching him for years. I'm a 27 year old woman and have no interest in old kenner figures but I love action figures in general being the huge tomboy that I am. I just found your channel a couple days ago amd I can't stop watching. You guys are both extremely talented and therapeutic to watch.

I don't even collect diecast cars, i just watch those videos because damn it is satisfying to watch a work well done.
I also really like the wheels on this car.

My Father had an Olds Starfire. Big, Comfortable, and FAST!! I would love to have it now. I can still see my Dad smiling when he hit the gas pedal as soon as my Mom fell asleep on our yearly vacation to Myrtle Beach. Hell of a car!

In my opinion, the '60s car diecasts are probably the coolest to restore because cars at that time were quite unique and had lots of options and features you won't find on automobiles today! Not to mention, they had style, class, and were works of art in their own right. The Oldsmobile Starfire was indeed a gorgeous and spectacular car in its heyday!

That colour reminds me of an old school friends fathers Oldsmobile from the mid 1970’s. They were American and brought the car to the town where I lived in the U.K. when they came to live there. Always loved that car!

  • @charlesm7589

I know this is a very old video, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Growing up, our family car was a 1965 Oldsmobile Dynamic. Very similar to the 65 Starfire you have there. Now, in my 60s, I own a 2 door, 1965 Delta 88. Again, very similar to that toy. FYI, the 'side marker' you painted yellow is actually an Oldsmobile logo badge. There were no side markers on Oldsmobiles until 1968, per federal mandate thanks to a guy named Ralph Nadar.

    What an amazing transformation!
It seemed like this was a much lower-quality car than a Hot Wheels or Matchbox however I think that the end product after the restoration was one of the nicest I have seen you do. I agree with other commenters, the color you chose was perfect for this car. Thanks for saving it!

I know this is an old video, but the refills for the Molotow markers you use can be used in an airbrush and produce a chrome finish that is second to none. As for a clear coat, use Alclad II gloss Klear Kote. It is made for metallic paints and won't dull them.

    • @clydeferguson519

Beautiful restoration and great color choice! That raised area on the front fender is not a running light but rather a distinctive crest/emblem that Olds used back then. I immediately recognized it after you stripped the paint and was surprised that Husky included such a small detail on the casting. And if you applied some Armor-All on a q-tip to the tires, the black sheen would make that beautiful paint-job pop even more.

I never even heard of Husky but it's not surprising as there's probably been, and still are, dozens of companies making cheap diecasts. I really liked that olive color as it reminds me of the factory paint job our '71 Monte Carlo had.

Nice results! I used to have a ton of Husky cars when I was a kid, because my mom wouldn’t spend the extra $ on Hot Wheels...if you can believe that .69 cents versus .99 cents for Hot Wheels...but that .30 cent difference was equal to a loaf of bread, back in 1968-‘69...My favorite Husky was the Batmobile! I loved it until my little brother played with it and destroyed it...
