I really like the concept of the spy card enabling a player to look at another player's hidden information.

Great ideas and main mechanisms of the game! I really like the idea of building the map with exploring and fighting for the territories. Maybe instead of cards, it would be nice with not-square tile-laying instead (but that’s probably further down in the development).
Also, I myself love that kind of theme. But sometimes it’s a tough sell for many of my not-so-gamer friends (the Terraforming Mars / Scythe kind of games). Where games with a lighter theme such as Ark Nova is easier to get to the table. There has also been many games lately (I feel) with the Terraforming new planets theme.
So maybe the exploration theme could be more in the direction of Lost ruins of Arnak. Just a suggestion 😅
But great work! Keep it up 👏🏽

Psyched to see this series is still going. I still recall some of the initial mechanisms, cool to see how they have evolved. Thanks for showing the design/prototyping process. I can see it being time consuming and difficult to show a work-in-progress, but I dig it. Keep it up!

@Board Game Hangover Hear that, just submitted my first design to Cardboard Edison contest. Started off simple w a word party game but even that's been a lot of design, testing, rule iteration, etc. Feeling accomplished tho and have made some industry contacts and friends in the process.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I am designing my own game now and have gone through some of these things, having 3 play tests done at 4p and making tweaks after each. I will gladly watch other vids showing your progression and challenges. The format of this game looks neat!

Wooo! Excited to the series come back. I’m not sure I fully understand why the military/economy cards should be double sided, that and the initial draft confused me a bit. But the idea of hidden area that you can scout and “bid” troops on seems cool. Can’t wait to see how you guys develop that and the area control. I think there are some cool ideas here!

Great feedback! We still need to figure out how and if to implement the two decks. Maybe it's better with just one. Will have to test it

It would be great to have a discord so we can share ideas and help each other. I'm trying to make a boardgame as well, but I'm doing all by my own, so it's quite difficult sometimes. It would be helpful to have a community where we can learn together, and playtest as well.

Hi.. I see alot of nice ideas.
But I would suggest you start with reducing in to its core mechanics and see if that plays well and then add smaller mechanisms as a way of balancing the main ones.
Maybe even try and play each mechanism indervidually to test if they are fun on their own.
like are the battle mechanisms fun when looked at on its own, are the tile laying fun and engaging when if thats all you had, and so on.
Because there is a much higher chance of the game being fun if all the pieces it consist of are fun on there own.

Not sure just yet. We've discussed some ideas, but haven't selected any directions. What art style would you enjoy seeing?

Really cool guys. Developing a game ia probably the dream of most hardcore boardgamers. A suggestion: since you guys are working in a planetary scale, instead of +1 farm or +1 troops you could use something like +1 farming oligarchy/+1 seeds global trade, +1 imperial troop etc. Just more scaled up themed cards.

    • @BoardGameHangover
      @BoardGameHangover  ปีที่แล้ว

That's a great idea! We're not set on the theme just yet, but if it stays similar then we'll try to make if feel more grand

This sounds really fun and I like where it’s going with y’all’s concept of combining genres. I really hope you get it to a point that it’s ready for a Kickstarter as I would back it the instant it goes up!

Color me intrigued. Dual purpose cards are always great. Maybe instead of different corporations colonizing a planet for resources, you could do different alien races. Make a universe out of it and have asymmetrical abilities for each race.

This feels Dune : Imperiumish at first, but boy was i wrong about that feeling. I think this game will be my first to back on Kickstarter.
However IMHO the reward of the combat seems out of balance a bit. So in my opinion it should be A) the winner gets 1 territory, loser gets nothing or B) Winner gets a bonus thing (could be like choose from a fix table of combat rewards, or something bonus written on the card only the winner gets) + 1 territory from the card, and loser gets 1 territory from the card (not including the aforementioned winners reward).

I suggest "what makes yopur game UNIQUE?' = niche marketing
